  • Welcome to the new Nuuk international airport! This animation provides an overview of the construction process and the planned features of the new airport. The airport will have a 2200 meter long runway to accommodate wide-body aircraft. It will connect several international cities, such as Reyjkavik, Copenhagen, London or Toronto. It should open in 2024.

I've been watching the work being done at Nuuk on their webcam over the last year. Quite a project! It looks like it will be a very fine airport.

This looks great and it will be good for Nuuk to have an international airport of it's own. I look forward to flights from Canada!

Well done animation. What a change. I understand a lot of Chinese workers will be coming to Greenland so the larger airport will be needed.

The runway could do with being a little bit longer than 1 kilometre
Edit: ah it will! Good good 👍🏻

I am sure the passengers will appreciate not walking in the Nuuk weather. Well done, Nuuk. Will there be a spotting location?

2200m runway is long enough for an A330?

Yeah i agree its a bit short. It would be nice is the runway was stretched even an extra 200m to 2.4km

@@ifjchsiwocjcjs4378 Looking at the map, there are not realy much length left before getting into some rather tall land filling. There was maybe a wish to make it even longer, but they have concluded it was not worth it, for now. Guess there is potential to lengthen it a bit in the future if needed

Have you seen the room they had to work with? Its definitly not much skybridges definitly wouldn't have fitted there. And if its really that cold for you then just get some freaking warm clothes istead of complaining

Such 3D models and animations are much used these days regarding civil engineering and industry complexes, and are very helpful to everyone engaged in the projects, from the planning stage to completion, and also presenting the plans to politicians and the public. These animations are not created thinking about kids and games.
