For anyone making this cake, be sure to stabilize freshly whipped cream or it will separate, run and turn back to gloopy cream. Especially if it’s made to far in advance, even frozen for the ice cream. Lots of TH-cam videos on stabilizing whipped cream. Plain gelatin is the usual method used in bakeries.

Hi I want to make this for a surprise birthday party, after you apply the whipped cream frosting, and you place it back into the freezer. When you take it out to serve wouldn't the texture of the whipped cream change ? How long did you leave it out before cutting ?

You have to keep them in the freezer up to about 5 minutes before. It starts to melt fast. I've made 2 of these and that's my experience

The whip cream does not get hard unless you are using buttercream. I usually will cut into mine right after I take it out from the freezer
