Great video Mark. Just to let you know the Aladdin Autovents have been on sale since 2002 this is only the second version of the valves. This version was launched in 2008 using a different mechanism from the original one and allowed us to expand the range to various sizes to fit all radiators. The cartridge for the HV30C fits the earlier models and the later ones too.
Good video mate, thank you, could you have removed the side panel from the radiator to prevent damage? Also when I fit these I put the aladdin on the blank side and have the benefits of both worlds so I can bleed quickly if I need to, thoughts on this?
Hi Mark, just wanted to pick your brain. I have a brand new system repiped with a new boiler. I have both horizontal and vertical designer radiators for some reason the system is always drawing in fresh air.. any advice would be greatly appreciated!
as there is a connection point each end of the radiator i would personally use both vent points, thus easy fill and empty and no worry's about checking they need venting
What is the solution for the older system that air continuously let in and radiator have to bleeding daily ? Replace all the pipe. Can you make a video on that subject please.
hi mark great video. we have aluminium column radiators which gurgled and also make steam water noise once they get hot. the noise can be altered by increasing the temperature on the tRV. any ideas what can be causing this. had a few engineers out who weren't able to help and said it was normal.
Its the design of the radiators, it could be like the tall panel type ones, if yours are tall they have to flow in from the bottom left or right depending which way round they go, they are directional unlike most ordinary radiators, water goes up the left two for a left hand entry and when at the top falls down the right 4 for e.g , this is the water noise they all seem to do it, try altering your pump speed to increase flow rate, but you dont want pump over if its an open vent system, you need to check what that (steam) is as that could be dangerous, i.e a stat malfuntioning and overheating, you could be sucking air in, could be numerous possibilities, design etc.
Replace inner cartridge or replace the whole thing. cheapest is replace the whole thing with standard blanking plug www.markballard-ltd.com/recommends/radiator-bleed-air-vent-blanking-plug-12-inch/
They are a waste of money. They work when new when fitted to radiator that has no water. Drain down a system and refill within a couple of days and they do nothing. If you have any sludge in the radiator this will block the pin hole vent within a short time.
But is sludge not heavier than water? And these are at the top of the radiator, if they let out only air, how will this pull through any sludge? Genuine question

Fitted 8 of these today. Had to go round and bleed the rads and towel rail???
Amazing info re the flow and returns off the rad pipes, thanks for the upload !

You have an excellent hairline for someone of your age. Is it real hair and what do you do to maintain its magnificencey?
Can you do a video on fitting an external expansion to a combi boiler please
From a gas’s safe engineer . Fitted this valve it worked for about 1 year then leaked remove and placed in the bin that it was designed for😊t
Normal air bleed that comes with rad at other end for maintenance and refilling works for me. Thanks

Sorry not sure with out looking.

That's over tightening. You should remove the side cover so there are no scratches.
Seems to be ok but I keep loosing pressure in my system.
Want to know how to fix when they stop working
Replace inner cartridge or replace the whole thing. cheapest is replace the whole thing with standard blanking plug

Interesting information
I fitted one about 10 years ago. It seemed to clog up and stop working within a couple of years. Waste of money.
Hi PB they are guaranteed for 5 years if you had contacted us we would have helped you. thanks
Less than a ringing endorsement, Id say!
