Noob now confirmed
Mid tier at least i know the basics
Beginner for sure lol
Interesting to see that guys!
Beginner
My only argument against Tip #7 is that in my own experiences I have found it EXTREMELY rewarding and effective to place a couple of units on the opposite side of the map during a siege attack (usually light/cheap units as they are the least effective in the attack, or more commonly I use cavalry because they are the most mobile units and can quickly cross the map to join the main assault once it is underway). It forces the AI to commit at least some of its units to defending that portion of the town against what it considers to be a threat, meaning that your main assault has been made just that little bit easier before the battle has even started!
ye that works also some times
Well tbh you can do even better,
The main assault you should put hidden in trees and the air out most of their forces on the "fake side", by the time the air releases and sends the forces back you should be already climbing the walls.
I've been playing total war for a few years now but it's always useful to expand your horizons on tactics. I'm decent in a land battle but just a bit less so when it comes to sieges. This is probably the first video I've found that doesn't overly explain it, thank you!
Np man!
Great video. I was addicted to the original Rome Total War back in the day (plus some of the harder mods). But I've been out of video gaming for years, and have just installed Rome 2 for the first time. Compared to the original, it is definitely a step up in difficulty. These tips are very useful.
Complete newb here. started playing total war rome 2 a few weeks ago for the first time (my first total war game) this kind of content is Golden. Thanks! Can't believe I slept on this game series for so long...
Yes its my fav Total war! Good you discovered rhe right content!
I love how you explain everything. You make it sound so simple to bekome better!
Ahha ye right just do those things easy done!;)
This is very informative, straightforward and easy to understand.

Awesome, thank you!
Dang Phoebe you're hot af. Are you full Asian or half?
The only thing I would add to this is that since patch 20 you have to be very careful with formations. The removal of spaghetti lines and the general improvements of how models stick together in a unit (even without formation attack) has helped with a lot of different things but when it does bug out (seems to do so less than before) it is much worse. Static formations (can't move) as far as I know are unaffected so if appropriate use those. I would personally only use square but that doesn't mean you can't find a use for the others. Pike wall seems to work most of the time but then again if it isn't a siege don't bring pikes unless you are confident you can use them and have a plan. The big offenders are shield wall and hoplite phalanx. They can really bug out and face your guys the wrong way, make them pull through inferior units taking a ton of losses. It is not that you can't use these formations just be aware if your men freak out turn it off immediately.
Your hoplite tip wth the gap for range attacks is also really really good in TW games with gunpowder units like medieval and shogun 2
ye true!
Lot of good advices. If a new one apply it to Rome of Hellenic faction , he will climb fast in skill.
Well , some factions are still experience hungry...like Parthia , that is a King in many 1v1 , but requires so much micro and game knowledge.
nice one!
I’m a beginner on Rome 2. Your advice on highlighting the whole army and moving it all in one go and using Ctrl to pivot as one was really helpful, a real game changer for me. Keeping archers on the left and targeting corners of settlements with siege equipment has also been super helpful. Thank you for the videos 🙂
Np man glad to help!
Im a veteran in campaign batlles against AI, but in multiplayer battles im a average -, especially in city assault...a lot of unexpected things happen and i need to getting better to react it...your tips are very useful, thx.
Hello Sir, do you have any tips on how to remove all the families in your faction? I've tried removing them by provoking the other factions to secede. But everytime I remove them, another family will rise up with a new name. Do you know how to solve this problem? 😅
Im totally new, these tips are probably for multiplayer battles, how would you rate the vanilla AI commanders?
I'm a beginner and this is my first time playing total war rome series. I started with total war rome 2. One time I was raiding a village in a grand campaign as a roman. I killed around 8-9cards enemy unit with just 5 cards of my troops. I bait all the enemy outside town using general and let my main army capture and defense the city. When my general exhausted and flee to the city. My main army crushed their archer, killed their general and routed their main army. It's a win with almost low damage and no casualties.
Experienced. Great info for new people. Been playing total war for a long time
Only thing I'd say is that regular hopolites are decent as well. They won't get kills, but they're good at not dying in siege battles. Shield bearers from Macedon and the Selucids are also a very good hopolite, they aren't top tier, but they're very good for the faction they're in.
Had the game for a while, never got past the prologue but I'm about to fully hop into it now, thanks for the tips...beginner 😅
Have fun man! Gl trying
I'll be putting myself at beginner-mid tier. My main problem is that I can't tell left vs right and hence as a result I end up wasting too much time on one side of the battle and don't focus on the other. I always play Armenia for that matter!
Armenia isnt easy to do good with so in that regard 👌
@@FightMeTotalWar They have eastern Spearman which are just trash. They have a bad roster and the only good thing is probably their horse archers and even their starting pos is meh.
Great vid, some great advice. I'd rate myself mid to experienced.
My open battle tip, try and overload one flank.
Good one!
this is great man thanks!
How do you draw the lines?
Giga beginner Ty so much for this video it help alot
Beautiful cinematography as always bro
Thank you 🙌
Thanks for the vid❤️
No problem 😊
I've been playing this game for years. And I never knew could manually fire your artillery 😅
great video bro
what is your computer hardware? quality was impeccable
What you've just said is articulate, it is intelligent and it is logical.
That laugh track at 3:18 scared the shit out of me. Edit: time stamp
Very good video
as far as the those being the only hoplite units worth bringing. What is your reasoning? why not add illyrian thureos or rakeem palace guard as well?
rakeem are nice units but not not worth bringing really not the best unit to bring, the illirians i classes them as thureos spear haha
Looks like I am still a noob ... the putting your archers to the left of the army is a genius play never thought about that
yeah right glad it helped!
Haiii.... erghm i'm new to the game, i just.... joined my first multiplayer game ever.... i got clapped so hard by randoes ;CCC and now i feel very sad.... but then i watched your GLITCH AND CHEAT "DO NOT WATCH THIS" and now i win every game ::DDDD
Glad that the Cheats helped ;)
Can you please write the name of the units under them for beginners because I can’t tell any of them by pictures
My bad
I think I am more of a mid-height tier, I use most of this stuff I just don’t have the best micro, at sp it’s fairly easy to win every battle but it become challenging when fighting pvp
Total beginner! Just started on rome 2 my first total war game
Yesterday I played a battle where I was outnumbered 1900 to 2700. I positioned my army at the top of a hill to combat their main force. The enemy had 700 reinforcements charging me from the rear so I sent my 3 units of cavalry to harass and delay them. I was projected to lose the battle with only 18% of my forces surviving but I slaughtered the enemy with only losing 400-500 men. I love this game
Hi, nice video. Could i ask you for some examples how to improve Fighting while in disadvantage? I learned how to reflect ambushes, but mostly im Fighting against biger armies. Do you have any advices?
you got try and split them up try pick at them one at the time
@@FightMeTotalWar Tried that but failed. If you ll feel like it i would really love some video from you ,,how to" win against biger armies 😊👍👍👍 i really liked this one!
Thanks real drake ;) Good concept I will think about it!
great content!
Thanks man!
I would say I'm a Mid-pro player at total war games. I only have about 45 hours on Rome 2, but I am an expert at the original. recently I got Rome 2 and I think it is a lot more fun and epic
Thanks!
Np man! Thanks you for the support❤️
Ty !
Very useful tips indeed, but to be honest tactics counts for little against a campaign legendary AI, because it has advantages in every single thing! the most effective tactic that I found during my long years of playing this game, is using the terrain and buildings to your advantage, coz its the only thing AI can't touch, so when I'm being besieged for example, I start looking for narrow alleys and stack my troops there! seems to work most of the time, and the best tactic I use when I'm attacked by a larger force is the 20min battle option and playing "Catch me if you can" 😈
When you say AI can't touch buildings, can they not destroy parts of buildings at all?. I haven't played a Total War game before, ever but I'm really close to purchasing this 😄
@rywoodman4450 it depends on the building. Some are destructible some aren't. Pretty sure destructible buildings are rare, though. Please do get the game BTW its great
Except for the primitive graphics I think RTW 1 is more enjoyable, less bugs you see, but I enjoyed playing RTW 2 too, I like the fact that you must consider every tiny detail to make it on Legendary difficulty, get it by all means!@@HeartbreakKid69
Just another tip: Reserve some oathsworn ...when u think u will be losing just charge then in front of the mass enemy (except pikes 😜) and use the HEAD HUNT ability and throw them to the enemy ...u will see the magic happen 🤪😁🤣
hahah good one!
@@FightMeTotalWar 😂
@7:20 how did you make them line up on wall like that?
didnt i explain that? haha
@@FightMeTotalWar ahh only if the unit has loose formation lol gotcha
I’ve been playing total war since empire collectively over 2k hours and I’d still say I’m a beginner 😅 no joke I am just starting to play above easy mode
the advice 8 is HUGEEEEEE!
hahahah YEAH!!!
Didnt really get what the first tip was, but good qual video!
Thanks man! it was having a good strategy and gameplan!
But how can you quickly formulate an plan in a land battle? How do you make yourself, or rather train yourself to think ahead to defeat an enemy?
Its a combination of knowlage experience and Logic thinking.
Really understanding your strengths and weaknesses with the army that your bringing which is knowlage,
Then Play with your strength and putting your self in as many winning engagments as possible (logic),
Then act to (unexpected) situation with experience
U make the plan up as u pick ur army, check the map, know every units purpose. Don’t bring units for fun or u will lose vs good player.
Great advice, knew most of the things tho
Alright atleast hope you learned one new thing haha
0:40 - The difference between a noob and a pro - is also knowing when to use the term "tactics" instead of "strategy." But, good video mate. :)
😂❤️
Learned a lot
Nice!
Don't you think that levy freeman are pretty insane? I mean the ones you name are good but idk, would love to hear your opinion
Yes they are very usefull! Insane would not Say but strong and very effective/ usefull Yes!
My tip the ia is silly. Roleplay as alexander. 12 falanxes 4 cavalry 4 Archers >:D
This is better to play it yourself. In the aitosolver isnt as strong
The cycle changes are a good idea. Use before but the thing is ur unit may flee after the movement order :/ Even their morale isnt low. Did i miss some fact? i mean its a legit move to keep your troops "fresh".
Yeah you need to watch out bc ass soon as your unit moral is low u got to leave it in there, bc when you retreat you will get that attacked in the rear debuff which will make you unit possible route
What are your thoughts on 124 during sieges? I personally hate it
oh but its a rule thats really needed, people spamming pikes is just not fun to play against and getting to many archers to op and then the battle becomes a fuckfest with to many projectiles
@@FightMeTotalWar yeah fighting pike spam or mass arty during sieges is dumb, but some factions that don't have the strongest infantry need more missile and cav to even things out. Imo 125 or 126 would be more balanced
maybe yes i will extually think of that one
Does this apply for DEI?
Mostly vanilla
When I play single player and a town gets attacked I always set the peasant just a few meters before my main frontline
That indeed helps a lot!
W8 you can fire manually!!!!! How do you do that?
Hahah YES! It becomes first person shooter haha, click on the art and then get in cinematic mode, with the button at the corner down left
I found for me, playing Attila and then coming back to Rtw2, I was a much better player, Attila being very hard.
what about rekeem palace guard? i think theyre pretty good
They are alright But if you got the armoured desert hoplites no reason to pick them
@@FightMeTotalWar fair enough, i usualy bring them on defence as general. shield screen and they really hard to be killed
yeah thats true!
I would argue I’m a mid tier player. I’ve got countless hours in the total war series, but am still aware of some holes in my strategies. Just trying to always improve.
Thats the right mentality
there is just one simple way to destroy them all...levi pikemen + 150 standard range archers with a scout full on range in ya army, and everything dies :P
Archer war? Whats that, i only know charging 108 cavalry at 3 Archers Just cause they got one of my units
hahahah Mad lad
Probably beginner. Because i attempted to copy an recreate historical formations as Macedon that may or may not work well in a videogame. lol
That cheap unit on wall is genius
yeah right haha
will you try DEI Now i am waiting you to play as maurya
I want to but not sure how i can make a vid about that
I really want to buy Rome 2, but its kinda expensive, and I was just wondering if its really worth the money?
100% only not sure if summer sale is coming, but either way you have fun.
campaigns = Fun!
Only historical Total War = with very active mulitplayer + tournaments
@@FightMeTotalWar ok tnx
Did you just say, fire artillery manually? Almost 700 hours playing Rome 2 and didn't even know, wow.
begginer cant lie but im getting better with your vids
leviulysses here. Fight Me how do u have almost 5k hrs and still be just better than noob? 😂 glad people r still having fun w this game like I am
hahaah indeed still a knoob lol, ye i am also happy to see so many people liking rome 2 still its crazy!!!
3:25 and this is why DEI is superior, spears are actually good
Truee
Thin archer formations really make the difference in a battle...
Yes 100%
500 hours in and i still get mopped in multiplayer...;
I thought the illyrian thureos spears were really good. They still have 5 javelins and even have cav counter tactic and very well armored for the price, and they are also much cheaper than standard thureos spear. Another good one is Massalian thueros. basically a more agressive version of standard version, same price too.
Another good hoplite, imo, is thorax hoplite, they have weaker attack and charge bonus than the armored desert counter part but have higher morale and are cheaper to field, so you can bring more of them or save money for other units. Massilian Hoplite is also pretty good, basically a cheaper version of Illyrian hoplite for a little less stats, but compared to armored desert, they are kinda overpriced. I guess CA was overpricing units with morale boost aura too much.
Finally, the late lybian hoplite from Carthage, you pay 300 gold for a very well armored spear units, maybe too well armored for literal 300 gold, with very high anti cav bonus on top allowing them to screen enemy's cav from your flank and archers. They can also soak up a lot of arrows, a perfect meat shield for Carthage. You can also put them in hoplite wall in some situation as well. highly recommended.
Idk, It's just my opinion, or maybe because I'm just a noob xD
yeah thorax hoplites are nice ye but no really reason to take them over thorax unless you playing with the 7 max rule
@@FightMeTotalWar yeah, no reason to bring them. because thorax sword exists. If it were the same for Naebate, there would be no reason to bring armored desert hoplite as well. Man, this game really make did injustice to hoplite units.
yeah indeed, unfortunately
@@TheBikeOnTheMoon I think it was an overcorrection from how op hoplites are in Rome. You can take over the world with armored hoplites.
@@johndarcangelo6893 you mean in rome 1? yeah they were OP in that game. I kinda understand why they nerf hoplite in rome 2, but this is over nerf. I did a mod test to see how much bonus vs infantry they need from hoplite wall to be able to fight generic mid tier babarian sword and turn out, the minimum number is 15. Yes, 15 bonus vs infantry, and yet they barely have any men left, to continue the fight, often they even route right after the fight.
knowlage?
why have you put me inn b tier hahaha
hahaha duhhhh
I see... I was a noob this whole time.
It's a shame that's how the game play is. No collision. No movements. No strategy. You have to cheese the mechanics to win
Til that you can aim with your catapults. Wtf
I've never played this game youtube keeps recommending me how to be better at this game
hahah maybe bc you kinda like to watch the game or would like to play?
3,000 hours on this game sadly, I’m a good experience-mid tier player still
hahha Thats fine we are just in a discord with a lot of other people to play games etc and then you learn really fast
I feel attacked.
Hahaha you should
Don't worry bubbles, somehow the community still sees you as an B-A tier player
👀
After I watched your video I can say I am D 😂😂😂
MID, but with 20 years of experience 囧
ultra noob because i just found out you can manually control artillery xD almost 700 hrs played...
hhaha thats alright with rome 2 there is always something new too learn haha
Well explained But again…. You talk way to fast!!
srry for that! :(
Ничего не понял но очень интересно!!!
😂
Im definitely a noob
I only play solo so I probably am a noob because I only fight the bots
Hahhah if you prefer so than so be it right.
@@FightMeTotalWar I tried having multiplayer but every one is already Very good and you have very little servers in Brasil
ye from the good you learn a lot right, but ye if there are little servers that sucks
Awwww, I'm a beginner??? 😭
Hahah🤣 Joe its all good u are i would Say mid for sure But hopefully it helped!
@@FightMeTotalWar Lamo Joe was referring to last video bit where you mentioned JOE as beginner
oh ye that was just a joke haha forgot about that😂 that means the winners of the tournament are also beginners lol
@@FightMeTotalWar all good. I've claimed to be a pro haha
