  • *TIMING INDEX BELOW, SKIP AROUND!!! Here's the early prototype of the new E520 Hyperion Processor from Synthesis Technology. To me this is really the next generation of audio processing and FX in the Eurorack format. Having the prototype to play around with I wanted to get this out to show you the great sounds already in the unit, which is constantly getting updates and new features even at this stage. Head to the links below to support it on Kickstarter and for more info.

      If you buy 2, sure

    • @Fedor_Tkachev_Music
      @Fedor_Tkachev_Music 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Obviously I'm speaking about chaining fx on a single module, especially with less demanding fx that don't take the whole cpu.

    • @Diamond_Eyes_24
      @Diamond_Eyes_24 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      yep - same question - FX stacking? should be a given on the spec and expected price point

    • @paulschreiber9384
      @paulschreiber9384 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Diamond_Eyes_24 If you are referring to arbitrarily chaining, the answer is no. And I'll explain why.
      The key to the E520 is having 8 CV inputs: 4 Parameters, 2 for L/R Feedback, and 2 for L/R mixing. These are 'fixed' in the sense we can't 'add more' because it's set in the hardware. Also, we use 3 programmable 'option menu' switches (the 4th is BYPASS) and a Tap Tempo, which if not doing 'tempo things' we also can re-assign.
      Now, every algorithm uses all 4 CV parameters, all 3 buttons and usually the Tap Tempo. So, if you were to 'chain' 2 of them, how are 8 CVs and 8 buttons required mapped to a single algorithm? People don't like to menu dive, and the only way to do it is have another page where these are assigned. But on the 'main view' screen of this chain, how do you actually use this? Answer: you can't. It's a jumbled mess. All you can do is have a "swap" system but then live performance? Still a mess.
      Rack-mount effects that did this used MIDI, because we have lots of CC messages, and every 'variable thing' got a CC and then you just have to keep track of THAT which is not that easy. Or, you just "set it up" with everything (or mostly) fixed, and hit record. Sure, you had a "chain" but little or no real-time modulation. The E520 was designed from the ground up to be the exact opposite: LOTS of real-time, CV modulation. like 9 things at once.
      So, if you look at the Stretch Goals, we have a compromise. It's in 2 parts: different algorithms on L/R, and also FACTORY presets of "chained" effects which have a reduced feature set but you can still access everything on the main screen. And our backers will vote via a poll what these chains are. We have enough memory to do 4-6 different ones.
      That is Stretch Goal #2, which is right now about 11 pledges away. I hope this limitation is sufficient.
