This video, and all of the reaction videos on this channel, transform the original material from entertainment into a commentary, educational and/or opinion expressing video. The original content that is “reacted” to is analyzed by professional commentators and podcasters, who use the performance to highlight instrumental technique and further discuss song structure etc. In addition, musical theory and style choices are also often analyzed and discussed.
While the video does use the entire song (as things such as instrumental performance and song structure must also be considered), there are many pauses. In addition, often the parts of the original content are played multiple times to examine a particular element of the song being reacted to. During pauses, reactors go into detail on the emotions that are invoked by the song or content, and why or why not they are good, or if they’re particularly difficult. The pauses often last a long time, so much so that this video cannot be considered a replacement for the original material. A link to the original video is always placed in the about section, and viewers are encouraged to watch it without pauses and commentary.

I think the biggest thing missed about Sylosis are the lyrics. It’s never filler. It’s always poignant and that’s what made them my favorite band. The fact that the music always kicks ass is a bonus.

I will say after giving the beginnings of this reaction another go…if you listen to them pre-2010…you would think of a bunch of categories to put them in but still be left saying, “It’s just metal.”
They really are the best. Lol

U really have to listen to Edge of the Earth its their BEST album by far, alot more thrash, melodical death metal.. not sure if i can say but EotE is the best metal album of all time!

Nice disection of Sylosis guys!!
I would like to recomend another band In the same vein of Sylosis that blends grove metal with new sounds, ( its like a Metallica 2.0) they are making waves this couple of years.
They are Orbit Culture Im 200% you will dig them, You can start with "Redfog" or "Saw" and then listen to the newer songs, bands like them and Sylosis are a different type of "new" metal blending the old genuine metal with the new styles.

Josh Middleton/Sylosis rules all of their music rules and this new album should be great. Edge of the earth is one of the dopest metal records ever and monolith is phenomenal too, all of their projects are awesome tho and worth listening to, wish more people had heard edge of the earth tho that’s one of the sickest metal records of the last couple decades. This new album seems to have a more straightforward modern metal approach so I hope that brings them some more popularity because they deserve it. I do hope at some point they will return to a style more like edge of the earth again which was like an awesome mixture of melodeath and thrash. Anyway I’m rambling but Sylosis rules and Josh Middleton is a genius, nice reaction guys

@@SuperMetalBrosPodcast definitely recommend empyreal, most popular song of their edge of the earth album and it has a video which is always nice for reactors, my favorite from that record is apparitions but empyreal is definitely a banger, anyway good stuff fellas
