I love this series so much! I'm shooting for vague nerd points here, but Arkham Asylum: a Serious House on a Serious Earth by Grant Morrison talks about Joker's insanity a lot. It says that he's not insane, but 'Supersane' and can't filter the sensory information he receives on a daily basis. This causes him to invent his own personality every day. That blew my mind when I was like, 18.
Unfortunately, awareness is not the same as sanity, and being in a condition where sensory overload or anything else is causing irrational behavior would definitely not be sane. "Supersane" would be more akin to Vulcan logic or similar tropes in science fiction (or the Kwisatz Haderach from the Dune series if you're coupling it with increased awareness), and would basically mean deterministic behavior. From what I can glean, the story was really just making an excuse to give the Joker awareness of the reader as well.

Certified diver here: not by any means a correction, just an addendum. The longest snorkels I've encountered have about an 8 foot hose and float independent of the snorkeler. They typically have a series of one way valves and water escapes to prevent drowning and inability to draw breath. You could consider classic dive suit style diving to be pressurized snorkeling though. I highly recommend not refreshing your memory of the Mythbusters episode where the drop the pressure from one of those. Love the show, keep up the good work educating the masses.

Imagine one day he's going around fighting against over-fishing of various regions when he tears through a bottom trawler fishing net, only for one of his feet to get tangled in the torn netting. Now, he's getting twisted and turned, flipped up and down and dragged along the sea floor and the fishing boat moves along. Maybe its not super fast, maybe it's not super forceful. But he's quickly disoriented and getting lightheaded from the lack of oxygen as he's dragged backwards and his gills struggle to breathe co-currently to the water flow. Aquaman reacts quickly, reaching to his feet to untangle himself, but too many interruptions back-to back slow him down just enough. Dragged over corral, bumped into rocks, on-and-on. He's getting lethargic, his thoughts muddy. He flips over, making one last heroic struggle to free himself. A brief moment of lucidity as his gills are properly oriented for a moment. Then, *THWAP!* A fish smacks right into his face. He blacks out for just a moment, but it was a moment too soon. He is dragged along powerlessly and passes silently. Felled by no Supervillain nor clever scheme, just a small crew of fishermen, biology, and bad luck. One day, he left home and never came back. Never heard from again. No one ever steps forward to claim the honor of defeating the mighty hero. He just, fades away.

I never really thought about it bcuz even in a pool or the beach my chest felt pressure, people would just tell me its anxiety but I like to think I'm pretty strong will and overcome that. I've done crazy things water related then just sitting in a pool. Could the pressure of water just enough to cover my chest be the reason my lungs cannot hold much air and help me float. Also I was a premature baby by like 2 to 3 months

Little correction about Tonic immobility on sharks. Under their snout are electroreceptors to help them hunt prey that are EXTREMLY sensitive. Rubbing those is the key to put a shark into "Tonic immobility"and be able to turn them upside down. Love the vids as always
The water pressure thing actually reminded me of what happened to my daughter when she was a few months old. She had a growth spurt but as sometimes happens not all her muscles grew, the ones that fell behind were her breathing muscles. This meant that she could only take a few breaths flat on her back before she lost strength and stopped breathing. Her doctor explained it by saying she wasn’t strong enough to fight gravity as she could breath perfectly fine on her stomach or propped up. I am wondering if it wasn’t just gravity but the way the pressure from your own weight and the air around you effects you when you lay down like that.
