Nice. Playing with a group of friends with specific roles would be fun. Mechanized force, artillery, infantry, air force, tank division, anti tank, ect.
One of the men said, "This is a story you will tell your grandchildren." And that's when I remember A Bridge Too Far when the commander said, "Gentlemen, This is a story you will tell your grandchildren, and mightily bored they will be."
More than likely they will do that in a second game or at least a very major expansion but i doubt it. Look at the Wargame series.... Each one goes to a different front so that's my best guess.
I know it's just a game, but The 15th (Scottish) Division did not land in France until 16 June 1944 as one of the follow up divisions. I know this as my father was in the Division as part of the 7th Bn, Seaforth Highlanders. Their first action was Operation Epsom.
All of the SD44 Streamers are doing it live commentary vs. commentary over replay. Would like to see close ups on battles vs. whole map views that are ubiquitous.
QF for the 6-pdr gun just meant that projectile and propellant were in one pre-made lump. So it's quicker than the old fashioned mechanism of adding bags of kaboom after loading the hurty-bit du jour. And usually still faster than the equivalent gun in a tank, owing to extra room. Why does the guy saying "This will be a story you tell your grandchiwdwen" sound so very not-Scottish? There's no way he could have been born before the 70's and outside of South or East London, it's a blended accent.
Yeah, some of the voices of the Allies make me just want to play as the Germans :D Though in fairness, most officers in His Majesties army at the time would sound as Scottish as any person sent to a Public School.

Kinda looks like a WWII version of Wargame: European Escalation or a smaller scale version of Hearts of Iron. It's really cool, i especially like the controls for air units and the little box on the bottom right hand corner that shows information of the selected units and the rangefinder.
Oh man for sure....if you're looking for something like that with the same type of scale...order of war is pretty cool...a bit dated and multiplayer is down, but has an awesome campaign with the landings
I'd like to see a longer, but narrower map, where you'd have a longer fight where you push deeper and deeper into germany, with the objective of capturing towns and villages.
Germany occupied it, however it's still France. It doesn't suddenly become "Germany" They invaded Normandy in FRANCE, no Germany. They pushed into FRANCE, not Germany.

Before you buy this game: 1) The devs will not (probably) be adding many factions. USSR and Japan will not be in the game. 2) This is not a ww2 game, this is a normandy game. This means many units from ww2 will not be showcased in SD: N. 3) When the release comes out there will not be a huge wave of additions. Some new units and maps, but not new nations. Just a heads up, these kind of deter me from buying the game.

I am hesitant with this game... What is the purpose the ABC deployment phases? That really doesn't make sense to me. I play Wargame and some R.U.S.E.. Will I enjoy this game as well?
Zachary Vasey it plays more like war game rather than ruse and the deployment phases are to simulate the landings with mostly infantry landing first with lighter vehicles and etc...
Zachary Vasey yea I've been playing it a lot and I say that if you've played red dragon you'll be able to get into easy but it's a bit slower due to it being in ww2
The phases don't simulate the landings, but rather the escalation of battle. Recon units and infantry first meet in battle and the front line is established(Phase A), and then armored units are diverted to the battle(B and C) as it escalates
Dude just had a hard time watching you till end of first game (That point where you get disconnected), i'm totally new to this game, actually just discovered it like a day ago and watching you play was ennoying me, you're simply moving the camera around too much, being way to quick in your actions, i cannot understand a thing and not even see some interesting actions at some points, i can remember at one point, you send in some planes destroy a unit, wanted to actually see the plane drop its bombs and see the bombs reach and blow that thing but you simply moved away and i was like, ok than i guess he doesn't quite care to see if target was destroyed or not ? Anyway, getting ready to be attacked in the comments, but i just wanted to let you know what i feel like ;)

I just started playing this. I love how you can see range and vision of your units. Not being able to see vision in war game really irritated me.
