- An upstream adventure to prospect big gold from a huge deposit of one of Tasmania's remote rivers. Sniping gold underwater I find huge amounts of gold caught up in the quartz veins of the river bed these quartz veins act like giant ripples in a sluice box the coarse structure of the stone traps the gold leaving huge amounts to be sucked up.

One thing that is interesting to me is that the gold you pull out of your Tassie rivers has a definite look/shape to it. Very different from the gold I find in the Sierra Nevada mountains in California. Sure we’re on it when you found that crumbly quartz!!! 👍😊

I'd be moving every boulder, rock, skipping stone and sand particle in that river close to those decomposing quartz stringers.

Great gold Levi thanks for the inspiration. I've only been to Tassie once but its very similar looking bush and rivers to here in NZ. Unfortunately I'm in the north island and all the gold is in the south island so it takes a bit of planning and travelling to get down there for a gold trip. I've recently taken up gold sniping thanks to your videos. Still having trouble seeing the gold - I need a magnifying lens in the mask I think.

It almost seems to me that Gold is somehow attracted to quartz stringers, I find a bunch around the stringers where I snipe. Thanks for another Wonderful adventure :)

Yeah it loves the coarse nature of the quartz but sometimes I even wonder whether it’s sitting there from years of erosion and from shedding from the quartz itself 🤷🏼♂️

Do you ever wonder if your near the source? ie on the hillside next to were you snipe? or is the gold to worn?
I have a couple of sniping locations which I believe the gold has shed very close in the hills haven’t been able to find the source yet though the gold is extremely coarse in these spots
