    At last, an in-depth, blow by blow tutorial. Great job, thanks!

    That's the way Dominic plays it live because of the guitar he uses on stage. When he was in the studio, he used an electric nylon guitar that had a cutaway and he started up at the 14th fret. The studio version is much easier. This was what Dominic said in an interview with Rick Beato.

    • @RG-cm8qv
      @RG-cm8qv ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes! Would love to see someone break down the studio version clearly for someone who wants to learn the song correctly the way it was recorded and doesn't understand music language and can't really learn it without tabs. I have tried to search for the real tabs and can't find them anywhere. Would pay money for the tabs.

      He also says the intonation can be troublesome that high up on the fretboard. So thats why he plays it lower live.

    Several years ago I spent hours watching Dominic Miller play this song live to get all of the correct fingering and nuances. You have captured it all with great accuracy. Great Job, as always! The bridge was unfortunately left out but is somewhat easier to figure out.

    Very good tutorial, Alberto.
    I wonder why the A bass note of the A chord in 7:50 is not played on the open 5th string. It would be way easier and the sound texture of the chord is practically the same.

    • @albertolombardimusic
      @albertolombardimusic  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I play this song live quite often and I have to say that A chord does sound different played with an open low A. If you get used to the sound of the fretted note, the open string sounds funny...

    • @taccamine8312
      @taccamine8312 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It's the same with the D6 with the added upper A. It is easier played with a loose D string. Could it be Domenic avoids loose strings in case Sting suddenly decides to changer the key?

    Alberto, the very first chord is not correct. The tab would be -x-9-11-x-10-x. Listen once again to the song.
    When you do the second round, then you play the 3rd string on the 7th fret.
    Many online tabs are wrong about this.
    In the bridge it’s the same. First, you play the 5th string on the 11th fret. The second round you do the 4th on the 7th tread in the fist bar.

    I like the way you talk about it, just talking about the chords.
    Most other videos are people saying "sixth string seventh fret fourth string ninth fret second string first fret fourth string 12th fret. blah blah blah." I can't listen that stuff. They're spitting out string of numbers. It's mind-numbing. It's micromanaging. And it's unmusical.
    Yours is much better.

      It is a stretch. Dominic Miller and sting both use guitars with very short scale (fretboard) when playing this song.
