- ATTITUDE TO RUTHLESS | Wrestlers that Succeeded in Both Eras!
Getting over in one era is a hard enough thing to do if you’re a wrestler. But staying over all the way through to another era, well that’s another feat altogether. Yes, it takes a special kind of performer to keep that flame alive for so long that it passes beyond one phase of WWE into the next. But who are the best examples of superstars that succeeded in both the attitude and ruthless aggression eras of WWE. Well, that’s exactly what we’re going to be looking at today.

WCW/WWE Cruiserweight Division: Where Are They Now?
The disrespect with Shawn Michaels was stupid! HBK was successful in both the Attitude and Ruthless Aggression Era. Fucking channel!!
undertaker - Golden era , new generation era , attitute era , ruthless agression era , pg era , reality era , Modern era
renaissance era too(wm40)
Taker debuted in 1990…the new generation era. No golden age for Taker…Yes Mark Calloway was wrestling during the golden era, just not as the Undertaker.
@bluecollartradesman715 the new generation era started in 1993 so yes Undertaker was part of the golden era
@@spike3082that is correct although the new generation era really kicked in full swing in 94' it was being set in gear 93' when ho kogan left after king of the ring
@@spike3082 I always considered 88 as the final year of the golden era and 89 as the beginning of the new generation era.
Kurt Angle, Taker, and Huntee had so many classic matches in the ruthless aggression era.

Kurt Angle was good in the attitude era, but in the ruthless aggression era, he was even better. His matches against Edge, Benoit, Rey, Brock, and Eddie Guerrero were all amazing.
Perc Angle was legendary
@@palindrome1023I wish he stayed in the wwe. Bcuz his matches at Tna were 🔥🔥🔥

Maybe try actually watching TNA now before you talk!!! I am so sick of people putting TNA down without giving it a chance!!! tna has actually improved since Kurt left so please show them some respect!!@thegameking3931
@@zemox2534 tna is crap it's look like watching some indie wrestling with poor stage and lesser crowd. Roh looks 10x better than tna in terms of everything. Tna ain't even big show anymore lol.
Tna is dead that's facts only things tna is doing better is improving wrestlers like drew McIntyre, Bobby lashley, Cody and others to become them big names in wwe rerun or debut and Aew

Dear Internet Wrestling Community,
Don't ever let the legacy of Eddie Guerrero be forgotten.
Triple H, Rock and Kurt all started to become big stars during the Attitude Era and when the Ruthless Aggression came they turned it all the way up and put on some of the best matches in wrestling history
Nonsense. The Rock became the mega-star he is today during the Attitude era. By the RA era he was part-timer and was completely gone by early 2003.

Rock definitely was at peak popularity during the AE. Fans started booing him during Ruthless Aggression.
You forgot to mention big show won a tag title with undertaker in 1999 before he teamed with Kane
Chris Benoit should be on the list. He was main eventing with The Rock, Triple H, Undertaker and Stone Cold in the Attitude Era while Eddie Guerrero was dancing with Chyna in the mid card.
Of everyone on this list, Kurt Angle arguably had the biggest boom of them all. Once the Ruthless Aggression Era hit and workhorses became more sought after, he was easily at his peak. Sure, one can argue that if he could go in today's WWE, he'd excel just as well, but remember: he had Jericho, Benoit, Guerrero, Lesnar, Cena, Michaels, Taker, Kane, and Triple H all at their peaks. While we can no longer watch his bouts with Benoit, they were a highlight of the era, often being damn near technical masterpieces.
For me, I always remember the Ruthless Aggression Era a lot more than the Attitude Era because I always favored the in ring work than one's mic work.
Beardless Triple H in Evolution was weird looking to me.
He was shaved earlier in his career tho?
@@jahjr92aka187i dont even remember him ever having a beard

Will you do one of wrestlers who failed to translate from the attitude era to the ruthless aggression era? Love your videos
Chris Jericho never winning Money in the bank still is a crime . He cashing in on Shaun mickels would have been perfect for building another WrestleMania match between them
While I don’t disagree with these choices, this video is cringe. Their research was clearly TH-cam comments. The commentary about HHH only succeeding because he married Steph and “backstage politics” holding Eddie Guerrero back is hilarious.
what about New Generation Era to Attitude Era to Ruthless Aggression Era?
Kurt angle vs Brock Lesnar was once in a generation fued. If kurt would have not left in 2006 he would have been the face of WWE
Chris Jericho was there during the transtion from ruthless aggression to pg era since he return in late 2007. The pg era officaly began in August 2008.
Great list but y'all forgot Chris Benoit
Chris Jericho has to be one of my favourite wwe stars of all time. His feuds with the rock Triple H shawn Michaels and edge were my most favourite
Wrestle With Andy Your TH-cam Channel Is Awesome
Lets hope the Netflix era is as good as Ruthless aggression era
the undertaker is the only constant that has existed from the very beginning till date. while it is true that he had become a part timer lately and possibly wont have another match ever. but he still makes appearance nonetheless and showing his presences and support for the industry. taker has been the backbone of wwe all along. tbh one could argue that wwe wouldnt have existed so long without taker. he was present support vince from his highest highs to his lowest lows. truly an icon.
Many great WWE superstars made their debut on SmackDown
i agree on this
"When has Kurt Angle ever been a normal man"
Id say just before the PEDs?😅
Bro next yearly review only here to comment this
Even tho his never ending title Reigns and strangle hold on the main event scene got tiresome it's honestly impressive how much logentivty and good at adapting with the times HHH was, and while he was never the top guy others thought he was he was a reliable hand and a believable enough talent who could carry the show when they needed him too and a top 3 heel of all time
It is hard to praise him when you consider who he married and the identity of his father in law.
@@zemox2534 I mean he was already a main eventer even before dating Steph which showed Vince saw something in him and believe or not he was an internet darling between 1999-2001. While it's true his marriage into the family gave him a lot more benefits he would've probably had a pretty successful career regardless
@@Kalel2.0 I mean even without marriage he would be in the same position with the likes other legends and who knows hhh would still become creative manager just like Shawn Michaels. Hhh just got lucky Steph fall in love with him and Vince definitely saw something in him even more than his own son that he made triple h his son in law. Vince given hhh more authority power than his own son shane that hhh is leading the company now after Vince name is erased which shane never would've pulled off
Mick foley, undertaker… and Chris Jericho
You say "Hell" a lot! We should start betting on how many times it's said each video!😂
I'm breaking balls! I really enjoy them!! Keep em coming!

What about HBK? I understood that he retired after WM14 but I he was still a big player in the attitude ere. If you consider anytime after the screw job as part of that era
15:09 I hate the fact that Kane only became champion to take away from Austin only for it to be taken from him the very next night
He should have had a longer run 8 months to a year
@@certifiedchaos4643Wasn’t gonna happen, the belt was being passed around like a hot potato back then 😂
@@Agentunderfire yea frfr u get a turn u get a turn. I do think he probably could have gotten a solid run in the 06-09 era
The only thing that made me laugh though is when The Rock came on screen I was kind of expecting a variation of his theme song to play but a random hilarious jazzy music plays instead (you had other wrestlers themes play for the previous wrestlers before The Rock) Despite that? I loved this!
Big Show in Ruthless Aggression Era was honestly booked better than in the Attitude Era
The Attitude Era was when he flip flopped between face and heel the most frequently and he also wasn’t always portrayed strongly (ex: losing to Shane McMahon all the time)
Once the Ruthless Aggression Era began, Show was place into a feud with Lesnar where he became the first man to beat Lesnar and took the WWE Title from him
And throughout 2003 he made things hard for guys like Brock, Kurt Angle, Undertaker, Rey Mysterio and Eddie Guerrero
On top of that, his character was also more consistent in the Ruthless Aggression Era as he got to have full years where he remained a heel without turning(2003) and a face without turning (2005 unless you count him and Kane picking on Rey Mysterio)
Honestly I couldn't agree more man. Paul Heyman seemingly knew how to book Show as threat both when he was in Smackdown and the ECW brand and honestly some of his best work came from that period
Attitude era is far more superior that PG ruthless era. Ruthless was riddled with mid-card talent sitting on top while Attitude era had real stars running the show. Zero comparison
Ruthless aggression was far from PG buddy are u high???

need a video about TNA
This is exactly what I've been referencing when people complained about Becky Lynch winning the championship. Just because we're moving into a new era that doesn't mean that the established stars cant still be main eventers, hence Triple H, Shawn Michaels, The Rock, Kurt Angle, Kane, the Undertaker, the Big Show
Two of the best eras hands down. Shame what succeeded it. Thankfully Hunter is running the show now.
Forgot about Rob Van Dam.
Theses dudes were mainstays in my childhood.
was Kane the only wrestler to be WWE Champion in all the era transformations
Great stuff as always Andy. I think lita and JBL should’ve been on the list. Especially when she was with edge lita arguably became a bigger star as a villain. JBL obviously was never a huge star in attitude era but was always on tv with apa and then to transition to the wrestling god would’ve never thought of JBL as a world champ before that
Something that is really forgotten about the rock is that he put ALOT of other guys over !! Angle n lesnar won their first championships from him, Benoit pinned rock clean on an episode of raw weeks after debuting....hell on a late 99 raw rock was pinned by Al snow ffs !!.... dwayne really had no issue putting people over n making stars.....
Imagine if Stone Cold kept wrestling during this time. Austin could’ve beaten undertaker streak. Austin v Cena, Batista Randy Edge etc
He’s the one that wears the scarfs
The disrespect of Shawn Michaels is noticeable in almost every video but this one is on another level, one for the fact of he’s not on this is absolutely ridiculous and then when discussing Kurt angle as one of the “greatest in ring performers” the quick list of people that can lay claim to that didn’t include the man that sits all alone at the top of that mountain HBK.
Shawn Michaels was out during the Attitude Era...
@@tareklegrand7747 Eh, I'd still count 1997 as part of the Attitude Era. Even if it wasn't officially labeled Attitude with the scratch logo in 1997 yet, the culture and atmosphere was definitely there during that year.
@@fredster594 that's the New Generation Era
@@tareklegrand7747 Officially yes. But if you compare an average episode of Raw in 1997 to 1996, the difference is night and day. 1997 in spirit is very much Attitude era in terms of its edgy content and atmosphere.
You gotta remember, WWF isn't a movie or a book, so there's no consistent date as to when exactly The New Generation era ended in spirit from a cultural perspective. The company's shift from being family friendly to appeal to a more older and edgy teenage audience in the mid 90s was a slow and experimental one. And you could definitely see a drastic change in scenery in 1997.
While 1998 was when the company officially began the Attitude era campaign, the company itself and the content it produced wasn't all that different from 1997. I mean, there's no way I can look at DX, Kane & Undertaker and the Bret Hart & Stone Cold feud and call that the New Generation era.
@@fredster594 WrestleMania 14 is actually the official date
I Understand I Went From WWE and TNA to UFC and Bellator and It made me a awesome guy I love Television I really do
No Shawn Michaels? 👀
If you’re good or even great in amateur wrestling than you’re already far better than the “professional” wrestlers. lol I can’t believe you said that at the 6min mark. There isn’t a single “professional” wrestler that is better than ANY college/ amateur/ Olympic wrestler. If you win a legit gold medal than you’ll immediately be the best wrestler in the business and a top guy automatically. In a true wrestling match, Kurt would DESTROY everyone not named Brock. And even then, it’d still be close and I’d prob pick Kurt.
No era was as good as 97-03
