True youtube storm chasers. Never once did I hear them consider calling 911 about the fire. Nope. They are too busy filming and storm chasing to worry about anything else.... seemingly unconcerned. Very troubling to actually think that people have become that selfish.
Hey there! I'm a firefighter in the area that the fire was in. Fire department was notified instantly 😀. To note (for the less educated), fire trucks are extremely hard to operate during severe weather, especially tornadoes, which were occurring around the area. I'd rather have my fellow firefighters shelter from tornadoes and then respond to the contained fire.
The natural gas system that went off towards the end is a good example of always tripple check your path for gas lines and power good solidifying reason to not just go barrelling in for post storm search and rescue without taking the time to screen for first responder safety especially with gas leaks etc.
Professional or not, chasing in the dark is irresponsible. I think most of you guys knew it was a bad idea from the beginning, but emotions and adrenaline took over. Luckily you survived! Be safe!
Fortunately, I don't base decisions off of emotions.. and adrenaline is not a cause for decision-making. Night chasing allows for a unique experience, for sure. Not dangerous unless one intentionally makes poor decisions. Also, it allows confirmation on tornadoes during a time where residents might not have warning of ongoing tornadoes until they are impacted. Regardless, I will stay safe! Thank you!
Give me a time, we passed many houses. It would place us in grave danger to stop at every house, both from the storm and from the occupants of the houses (at night, considering Oklahoma's castle doctrine pew pew laws.) We do the best via social media leading up to the event and livestreaming the event to keep people informed. If they choose to ignore the weather, it is not our responsibility. Get out there and do it yourself, bud!
I think they mean about the big fire that looked like a main gas line that got hit ...I'd at least would have called 911 to let them know that it was raging..that could have set the other home around it off ..and if it was a main gas ...but from your video the way the flames was burping up or puffing up it was probably a gas pipe line ..
