I've seen this movie so many times and it's just absolutely brilliant. Tom Hanks and Denzel Washington played their parts so incredibly well. Not to mention the message this movie sent at a time it was needed to be heard.

I was only 7 years old but still.. he worked for Hannah Barberra cartoons. lost so many talented people to aids in those early years.
No, that wasn't "perfectly normal." People acted like that long after it was well documented that AIDS could not be spread via casual contact, as shown in the later scene with the doctor. The bigotry and homophobia outweighed actual knowledge with the public for YEARS.

amazing film , fantastically acted by all concerned, tom hanks lost so much weight it was scary, I love this film. He (Denzel) watches everything, not sure if he can catch aids off of Andys hat, at the time this went out people still believed that sort of thing.
My Uncle was very openly gay, he contracted the virus and eventually came to live with us until he died in 1994, (his funeral was actually on my birthday, but i don't hold nothing against anybody my family was going to come together that day anyways)... he was favorite uncle i got a lot of uncles most of them are gangsters so saw them a few months before their next stay in the joint, but with him he was at least there
My uncle was in the army probably got it during his deployments. He was ladies man back in the day. He also came to live with us when he was now very sick. He was dating his boss’s daughter who was in turn delaying his retirement package from being realest probably waiting for him to die first. So coming to live with us was mainly because the partner was medically negligent by not taking to the clinic/hospital. Back then ARVs had not rolled out but my mother took care of him making him accountable in teaming the home remedies like gargling with cayenne pepper for mouth ulcers- which really healed him. Unfortunately when he got better he would remember his old life and go back to his partner and come back again looking like the first time he came to us. He was the best uncle too between his meningitis he inspired me to travel and see the world. I live abroad now.

Absolutely heartbreaking, excellent acting by both actors. The crying scene of his partner reduced me to tears. Great timing. The story reminded me of late Princess Diana, Angelic to the core, she opened our eyes. Thank you Tom Hanks for all your great films. ❤❤❤❤

Of course, since his age was never mentioned, I'm only basing this on Tom Hanks who was in his mid-30s at the time. My cousin was 39. He's actually my grandmother's second husband's first cousin's son. But since my grandmother and step-granddad got married when I was a year old, the love was always there, despite not sharing a family tree. My cousin died when I was 12, back in the early 90s. It was heartbreaking to listen to my grandmother describe she and my step-granddad's hospital visits, as she mentioned that they had to spoon feed my cousin because he was so weak and frail. The three of us went to the wake, but I sat in the waiting area, since I couldn't bear seeing him like that.

i am a very sympathetic person and it is incredibly well done and emotional. i can not watch it again but highly recommend.
