This is probably the most honest documentary clip I've watched regarding Iran that's not biased or one-sided. I grew up in south west of Tehran not so far from many of the places shown in this video. I've actually been to many of the locations showcased in the video both in the South and North of Iran. I've been living in the US for several years now and seeing how everything has remained just the same or more or less has gotten worse, especially for the low-income class is very difficult to watch. I don't think the government would ever consider dealing with this horrible situation. As long as I can remember, the income disparity has always been huge and is growing more than ever and never stops. Sadly, the majority of the rich are actually those who shape government officials.
Thank you for sharing your perspective. It's valuable to hear firsthand accounts like yours, which provide insight into the lived experiences of people in Iran, especially regarding socioeconomic challenges. Income disparity and lack of government action on these issues are indeed concerning, and it's understandable that witnessing little to no improvement over the years can be disheartening. Your observation about the influence of the wealthy on government officials reflects a broader issue of corruption and its impact on governance and societal well-being. It's essential to continue raising awareness about these issues and advocating for positive change. Your input adds depth to our understanding of the situation in Iran, and I appreciate your willingness to share your thoughts.
It seems that’s a common theme around the world. In western countries, the middle class is disappearing and turning into lower income due to inflation and economic conditions.
Its the same across the west. 30% of Brits live in actual poverty and this pattern is across all western countries. The divide between rich and poor gets wider.

This is a good video for showing these brutal contrasts. It's the same everywhere and it is the central problem facing this planet. Unfortunately the global elites have their own dark plan which has to be exposed and fought against. For all the poverty I prefer south Tehran which at least has life and character. the North is just anodyne and an anywhere/nowhere sort of place.
Thank you for sharing your perspective. The disparities you've mentioned are indeed troubling, and it's important to raise awareness and take action against them. It's concerning how certain regions are becoming desensitized to such horrors. Your preference for the vibrancy of South Tehran over the North highlights the significance of community and culture amidst challenges.

The sanctions hurt everyone, but middle and upper class have a much easier time dealing with the effects of sanctions/inflation etc. It clearly hurts lower classes the most...
I'm an Iranian living in the US. I have visited and lived in a few other countries as well. Iran is not a third world country and has all the resources, geographical advantages, educated workforce and solid historical precedences to be quite developed and for it's citizens to be happy and relatively wealthy. So to say things like poverty, homelessness and child labor exists everywhere is not doing Iran justice. In more advanced countries homelessness is almost never due to poverty, but caused by substance abuse for the most part. Iran could be doing a lot better, as it has done historically. But for now we are occupied by a government that has no care or sense of belonging to Iran and who is willing to sacrifice every last Iranian in the advancement of their 7th century cult.

Happy to see Iranians in Tehran look happy and ok anyway, with all those problems like terrible inflation that prices go up daily and other problems. Have been away from Iran for a long time, a similar video claims Tehran looks like New York, it seems that is right!
Thank you for this sincere documentation. This is complete different from what we are shown in news. I have a very good cooperation with Iranian people.
Honestly This is common all over the world. I’m NOT world traveler but seen this in UK 🇬🇧, USA 🇺🇸, Turkey 🇹🇷, France 🇫🇷 & more in Pakistan 🇵🇰. Anyways thank you for great video 👏🏼👍🏼
There are streets and districts in Istanbul where the children carry knives and crude, spiked " brass knuckles." Even the street wary Turk does not venture into these parts of Istanbul .
Wishing you the best in Tehran. We have our problems in the United States as well. The top 1% of families in the Unites States holds nearly as much wealth as the bottom 90% combined. It's also an acknowledgement that the top 1% largely controls the government and is therefore able to rig laws, taxes and regulations in its favor.
Yes, there are brutal contrasts in quality of life and income inequality in Iran, as we can see. The same ones that you can find in Brazil, Mexico, Argentina, Chile, India,, China, South Africa and many other ‘developing countries’. I don’t think that this is at all a problem of religion (Islam), but a problem of social and economical system, both regarding the inner economy of a given country and its position in the Global Economy. And believe, I’m not Muslim, not even religious, I’m a secular Scottish liberal/democratic socialist that happened to have lived for many years in ‘developing countries’ (mainly Chile, Argentina and Mexico), so my “Western bias” has been clearly diminished. Cheers. And great documentary by the way. I’m looking forward to visit Iran!
Oh sure. This is everywhere, it is actually NORMAL that in a rich country as Iran a few MOSLIM Mullas have allthe power and do what they like as they like, yes, has nothing to do with islamic clerics, it is actually normal and of course you are going to visit this paradose. I guess you are already in Iran and are member of regimes propaganda machin😂😂😂
Honestly I don't see a clash. Looks to me that you just recorded normal people on a normal day, doing normal things. You could just walk out of one of those malls, walk for 5 minutes and you'd be in a bazaar. I think we have much poorer, and also much more lavish lifestyles, none of which I have personally seen. What I did just watch, both types, was my everyday life. If I ever get out lol So I guess I'm saying that this was a good documentary, not dramatic at all lol Thank you for making it
Comparing it with other cities , in western world. I dont see much difference if not better , it seems , the makers of the clip never got out of iran to see cities like Rio , or even , east end of London for that matter . And compering it with middle east , it is heaven.
Thank you for sharing your perspective. While I appreciate your comparison to cities like Rio and London, the aim of our video was not to compare Tehran to other cities. Instead, we aimed to highlight the class differences and realities within Tehran itself. Just as every city has its unique characteristics and challenges, we sought to shed light on those aspects within Tehran. Your insights are valuable, and I encourage further exploration and understanding of diverse urban landscapes worldwide.
Agree! Kamran you're educated. Unfortunately some Iranians are spoilt by media. They even dont search the truth on the Google. A simple accident in the street is enough for a minority group of youths in Iran to press "reset" key of their country with another revolution. They want to treat cancer by changing cloths. Isn't stupid?
You're correct. Income inequality is indeed a persistent issue in many large cities worldwide, shaped by various social, economic, and political dynamics. Difference is In Iran, particularly in Tehran, the majority of people are considered poor due to the high poverty line compared to the average income. With an average income of about $300 per month and a poverty line set at $700 per month, many struggle to afford basic necessities such as housing.
Thank you for making this. I am traveling to Tehran from New Zealand in a couple of weeks, and plan to do a lot of walking and catching public transport. Very interesting to see actually how disparately people live within the same city.
So incredibly interesting videos. It is fascinating. I would love to travel to Iran, but it is not recommended now. I hope it will be possible soon. Who are you exactly? It would be interesting to know more about you guys doing these videos! Thanks again for your great job!
There is nothing "natural" about wealth disparity, it's just what we experience. If one only saw bears riding bicycles in a circus one would also think it's natural for a bear to ride bicycles.
It’s the same in all cities. I don’t see a problem, it’s life and it’s beautiful like that. I myself immersed in both world without any problems or judgement.
Teheran is not different from any other city in the world. And honestly the poorest part of Teheran look to me better than NYC, LA, Chicago, San Francisco or Paris, Milan and London. I cant get your point. We all know in many ways things are not good in Iran but dont tell me Teheran inequalities are less than in USA biggest cities. Despite embargo they are doing better.

Iran has progressed tremendously since the revolution despite economic sanctioned by the ZOGS. I pray that Iran will further progress in the near future. May God bless and protect Iran. May God bless and protect Yemenis and Palestinians.
In Indian cities, "North and South Tehran" inter-mingle a bit more. And there is more of South Tehran than North. There's also quite a few Iranians living in Indian cities.
Truth, life in poverty is... Kinda awful. Funny enough, both rich and poor go up north for vacation( by poor I mean Lower middle class, the absolute poor can't afford a trip around the city), and the rich goes to certain areas very nice places, kinda doing little and chilling and having fun while the poor will either resort to cheap suits(seaside usually, people are obsessed with beach), if they can find any otherwise there is camping in nature(seaside or jungle, the latter is a bit dangerous, through the night you can hear wild animals making creepy noises(mosly boars, or wolves) I personally had such experience and we pitched the tent on a covered and fenced small area that we rented for the night, we would then put up blankets hanging around and making a small tent inside... Kinda cozy, such is not exactly the least expected sight.
This is not isolated to Iran......Pretty much the same in all countries........From India to USA Still I got to ask. What's with those ridiculous wind shields on motorbikes?
the people with wealth are they working class in high end corporates, and which corporates or major industries drive economic growth of middle-class+ earners? Or is it people with proximity to power, can be through corruption etc?
Difference is very visible.Rich country under sanctions and badly managed.Plenty blue donations bins on the streets but not enough rubbish bins. They do not care to much about it.Feel sorry but hope for better days to come.😢 Subscribed !
Parece com o Brasil e outros países em desenvolvimento pelo que eu vi, então não me chamou muito atenção essa parte de existir Ilhas dentro de grandes cidades que parecem de um país desenvolvido e outras que lembram países pobres.
Nice Video Really Going Deep, But The Important Thing To Add Here Is That Every City Even The Best Of The Best Have A More Poor Region And A Richer One, Is There Inequality In Iran? YES But This Is Not A Good Demonstration Cause Everywhere Is Like This + The People In "Northen" Tehran Are The Same Normal People In The South Tehran They Both Suffer From The Government, Do You Except Drug Addicts And Their Family (In a section of the video it is said : Turn It Down, Behdad Is Having Headaches "smoking drugs") To Live Any Where Better Or A Guy From A Normal Family And His Family Getting Educated And Being Far Away For The Social Dangers? So Im Saying Its All Butterflies And Sunshines And Everything Is Normal? NOPE It Could've Been A Better Topic To Show The Government Incompetent For Social Welfcare For The Poor , If You Want To Show Inequality You Gotta Go Take A Look The Corrupt High Ranks :P A lil thing to add is to search The Same Thing For The Cites Of Usa? (fine you might say they are too big) in that case search the same thing for London Madrid Rome Even Cities Smaller Than Tehran (Tehran Metropolitan Area Has Near 8-9.5 Million Of Citizen Living In It) Hope These Stereotypes End.
You pointed out a very subtle point. Thank you for your attention. It's absolutely correct. Many of them stay at home due to the dirty and messy environment, dangerous nature of the south city, or because of the religious extremism of men in the south city, they do not want their women to leave the house and they order their women to stay home.
The period of bigoted and violent men in Iran has almost disappeared for years, unless a man is strict with his wife due to mental problems and pessimism... the fact that women are not seen in the places you posted a video about is mostly because of the unhealthy nature of that place. There are women who prefer not to visit that place... because you posted a video of places where only addicts and criminals can be seen, and not only from the south of Tehran.@@visitera
"The number of millionaires in Iran has exploded despite the country suffering under U.S. sanctions and the Covid-19 pandemic. In 2020, the number of high net worth individuals (HNWIs) in Iran grew by 21.6%, way above the global average of 6.3%. The collective wealth of these dollar millionaires grew even faster at 24.3%."
Unfortunately these dear Afghan children are abused as child-wotkers by some of their own countrymen . The human trafficking is found everywhere . Plz make sure to do a video on the homeless ppl of US and the pedofile scandal of the rich European and American elites visitis of the famous " Island "
It's more rational to compare Iran's economic stats to those of its neighbors or other Middle Eastern countries, taking into account the economic sanctions imposed by the civilized West, instead of comparing them with European states. It's easy to see that Iran is performing much better than any Middle Eastern state. While there may be corruption in administration, it pales in comparison to pro-Western states like my country, Pakistan. If you question human rights violations in Iran, look at states like Iraq, Pakistan, India, Lebanon, Arab states, and even China. As an outsider, Iran is performing admirably from defense to dealing with Western sanctions. When Western puppets rule, it's disastrous, as they often sell out their public and state interests for the benefit of a big power thousands of miles away.
The percentage of wealth between the poor and rich is not like anything in the world, and there is much to wealth than just cash ... It's so bad, so deep, that a thousand videos as good as this can't cover it all ... 90% of the country is rural farm, mountainous or desert living. It's really really more horrific when you go into their lives and see what people do to survive
I much prefer the south. Maybe it is just my impression, but the “poor” side just seems older, more traditional, but I see plenty of food just maybe not the “fancy” westernized looked of the north. My idea of “poor” is very different knowing truly poor parts of the world. I would feel a lot safer in the South of Iran than in the average city in the US. To be honest believe it or not by looking at this video I would say the south has more future than the north. The so called “rich” area will end up (if it’s not already there) having much less children, an empty, materialistic shell like the west with no future, it is all a facade.
Your comparison s flawed since none of these counties can be compared when it comes to how rich Iran is. Its actually the FOURTH richest country in the world in natural resources as oil and gas! The problem is that the country is LOOTED by the Islamicregimein the name of allah.
I'm surprised to see women without the Islamic headdress. I thought it was mandatory 🤔 Here in the United States, we have the same issues . Homeless people sleep along our sidewalks, some with tents and some without. They sleep in parking lots, doorways , and public restrooms, and I've even seen them living in tents in the middle of the roads. The United States is not a place filled with privileged people like the world believes.
Thank you for noticing! Iran indeed has a rich cultural heritage and takes pride in cleanliness. I'm glad you enjoyed seeing that aspect in my videos. Stay tuned for more insights into life in Iran! 😊🇮🇷
I am from Tehran and hear are the people very poor and the people which are mostly Shia are not religious this country is not Islamic which a lot of people thing it is because of propaganda the religion of iran is mixed with Shia to their own custom which was fire worship and many people convert to Christianity because the people thing what the mullah preaches is Islam
Thank you for sharing your perspective. Iran's cultural and religious landscape is indeed diverse and nuanced, blending various influences over centuries. It's important to recognize the complexity and uniqueness of each individual's experience and belief system.
You're absolutely right. Income inequality is a global issue affecting countries around the world. Addressing this disparity requires collective efforts from governments, businesses, and communities to ensure fair and equitable distribution of resources and opportunities. Thank you for highlighting this important aspect of our global socioeconomic landscape.

I appreciate these videos and the effort you put in making them. But every time someone compares the rich and the poor I detect the socialist agenda and the guilt trip creeping in. With very few exceptions, the poor are poor because they're dumb and lazy and the rich got there because they're smart and hard working. When poor kids make the effort they pull themselves out and when rich kids take life for granted they fall. It's the same everywhere. Also, what's with the annoying knock every time you switch to the south? It's not doing anything but irritate the viewer. If you're doing it right, you won't even need a title every time you switch scenes. Lastly, I can only assume you weren't able (or allowed) to show Evin prison where all the drug addicts are kept until they die. Otherwise, this would look just as bad as LA's skid row.
The fact that women are not seen in these places that he has filmed is mostly because of the unhealthy nature of those places, that women prefer not to visit those places... because he only filmed the places where he saw most of the addicts and criminals.

Hmm everyone around the world is like that. There are rich areas and there are poor areas.
Excellent video!
Interesting and honest video. Most parts in most US cities are fine. But, many cities have some parts that range from bad to awful.
It's like an other city in the world. Tehran has the best underground rail system ❤. People are amazing
If I ever get out lol
So I guess I'm saying that this was a good documentary, not dramatic at all lol
Thank you for making it
Surely the zakat that every Muslim pays or should pay should go towards improving the lives of the Iranians living in South Tehran. Inshallah
People in south Tehran are so poor, they almost can't afford cigarettes. When Iranians can't smoke you know it's bad.
Horseshit
Economic disparity is a global issue and pretty much evident in every country. Iran is no exception!
This is a worldwide problem in all big cities.
The disparity between rich and poor. Its been like this for centuries.

Not so different from so many cities in the West and in the East. I like the open air markets rather than the indoor markets of many places.

This is not isolated to Iran......Pretty much the same in all countries........From India to USA
Still I got to ask. What's with those ridiculous wind shields on motorbikes?
Youve seen how they put their head behind windshields ..if it gets muddy that windshield wipes it...
the people with wealth are they working class in high end corporates, and which corporates or major industries drive economic growth of middle-class+ earners?
NOPE
It Could've Been A Better Topic To Show The Government Incompetent For Social Welfcare For The Poor , If You Want To Show Inequality You Gotta Go Take A Look The Corrupt High Ranks
:P A lil thing to add is to search The Same Thing For The Cites Of Usa? (fine you might say they are too big) in that case search the same thing for London Madrid Rome Even Cities Smaller Than Tehran (Tehran Metropolitan Area Has Near 8-9.5 Million Of Citizen Living In It) Hope These Stereotypes End.
Very few woman's in southern Tehran. I wonder why
You pointed out a very subtle point. Thank you for your attention. It's absolutely correct.
Many of them stay at home due to the dirty and messy environment, dangerous nature of the south city, or because of the religious extremism of men in the south city, they do not want their women to leave the house and they order their women to stay home.
Because south of Tehran is dangerous and full of illegal immigrants
Are these areas dangerous for visitors? you know often maybe someone doesn't like it. What is an area that needs help?
Toutes les religions se ressemblent avec le même résultat...
It is the same in many countries. Not just Iran. Athens looks like shit, there is high inequality in Bangkok and Jakarta too.
same here in Sierra
