  • Libero rules can be a little confusing at times, so I put together this walkthrough of how libero replacements work with the USAV ruleset.

If I have two liberos can they play both in the same set ?......like can I sub each middle when they come to serve with a different libero ? .......example M1 comes to serve I sub him for Libero1......M2 comes to serve I sub him with libero 2

In USAV rules, you can use two liberos in the same set, however only ONE libero can serve for ONE position. They cannot serve for both middles

@@ThriveVolleyball Thanks.....so I can sub the middle for another player to serve and after serve, sub him for the libero ?

@@CAPDCJR That's correct. Let's say you are using a regular player as a serving special. The serving specialist can go in for the Middle and then after the serving specialist is done serving, the libero can go in for the serving specialist to play back row.
      Dows that make sense?

@@hellenmutupa9491 the depth of the service zone depends on the court... some are 10ft and some are much longer

Is ths the same rule as FIVB

To the best of my understanding, the main difference between USAV and FIVB rules for libero is this: Under FIVB, Liberos cannot serve. All of the other rules should be the same.

What if I want my m2 to serve then what happens

@@jadegizzi6109 That works! There are so many different ways to use liberos. Whatever makes the most sense for your team 😊

There are really no "rules" for when position players can serve. But if a libero serves for M2, then that is the only position they can serve for. Your M2 can still serve if you want them too, even if the libero has already served for them

What if i only have 1 libero

    • @ThriveVolleyball

If you only have 1 libero, all the same rules apply. They can only serve in one position per set. If you want them to play in different back row positions, they must come out for 1 rally before going back in. But even if they play in multiple positions, they can still only serve in one position per set.
