I totally agree. I’ve seen him in a ton of videos. I met him in the pits yesterday. He didn’t know me at all, but he took time to talk to me for a few minutes. I got a chance to talk to a lot of the guys pitting with Cleetus. They all were nice. Doug Cook even shared his pizza with my son and I.

@@PGAAfterShock The oil pressure problem was only on decel and only started being a thing recently and was intermittent. Can't blame them for thinking it was "ok"

@@g120957au If you go by the clean air act, it is already illegal, Ruby, Mullet, El Toro are all illegal under the act. So are a majority of dirt track cars. If you started with a vehicle that was assigned a VIN number at any time, it falls under the act.

Ever since Cleeter bought the FF…I get a laugh when he mentions things like concrete walls, bleachers, grass….lol. Rolling into the lanes and appreciate the concrete walls 😂
Me too. Most people notice things around them that are in line with their own lives. It still makes me smile though.

I noticed this too in several videos when he goes to a facility or track, checking out the bleachers and all 😄 Cleetus be like that nosey nieghbor looking over the fence appreciating how green and trimmed your grass is 😂
@@timjackson6941 My neighbor and I almost compete on our mowing. We have around a 10 acre hay field behind the houses and every week, he mows another foot or so in his yard and I mow to match his line. We're each mowing about 500 feet behind our houses now. Pretty soon, the hay field will just be yard. lol I guess I could stop it since it's our property but I actually like the big yards.
I am not surprised Ruby’s engine started knocking, she has a lot of passes on it and highway driving. Additionally Cleetus and James have both commented about oil pressure troubles on deceleration on both LeRoy and Ruby as the cars have gotten quicker in the quarter mile. The LS based engine oiling system in C5, C6, C7, ZR-1 Corvettes when driven hard are well know in the RoadRace, Autocross, community’s where stock vehicles get pushed to their limit even with the factory dry-sump oiling systems. The historical thing to do with wet sump oiling systems has been to put a deep sump pan to increase oil volume and open up the oil returns and to be honest that’s not an option on LeRoy or Ruby because they have both cars have hit there oil pan more than once so that leaves a large capacity multistage dry sump system or possibly an oil accumulator system to to inject oil into the system during no / low oil pressure conditions. I am actually quite surprised that Donnie the drift car did not get a dry sump oiling system as part of his new engine package.
I mean it did take them til this 427 (2-3 oem blocks later) to take oiling somewhat serious. They blew the first block from cut down pan baffles.
I was wondering if that crack in the piping had a little to do with this. Say leaning out? Seizing up sometimes means the rings and pistons got hot.
@@kramnull8962 The crack in “the piping” was on the hot side of the turbo so at worst the engine would loose a little boost which could cause a little loss of boost but would not cause the engine to run lean.

Wish he was on the channel FULL time casue his positivity is so contagious! Just brings ur spirits up. Missing my daughters terribly and my mom jsut passed from cancer so it’s been rough but seeing your videos and Brent on here truly helps bring some happiness and levity to my life. Thanks to all! Shades of when she was the auction Corvette tossing engines dang near every pass. No but Ruby had been a real reliable piece of equipment, I think she’s been through 4 or 5 race week events no problem but alas the gremlins have shown up this year. Texas Speed has a great relationship with Cleetus and I’m confident they’ll get Ruby back on her wheels. Cleet’s probably gonna send this engine back like the last for a proper diagnosis of what went wrong. Seems like it was oil starvation on the decel.

Before you put a new engine in Ruby, I'd take her to Kevin and let him tear her apart and put her back together Mullet style. Yeah it would take a while but it would be worth it.

@@jameswray6015 They can run faster, there limitation is not the car, but the engine/turbo combo, nothing else, the car run perfect for what is it. no need to mess around with car that are work very good.
@@fabini14 The cage is only rated for 7.5. When they've tried to go faster it either spins or tries to take off like a plane. It needs some major suspension work in order to reliably go faster. It's not just the powertrain limiting them.

yeah man you could see and hear the impact from the in car camera views. I was like dammmnn new track and its crap.
I know, I couldn’t believe a brand new track surface has big bumps like that. Seriously, they could cause a car to crash at high speeds.

Wouldn't be surprised at all if that's what finally killed rubys engine. Already having oil starvation issues on decel, add on top of that giant bounces throwing the oil all around away from the pickup and this might be what you get.
Legitimately a dangerous track now and should not be run until fixed, wonder if the holdup during the whole day was the insurance company having a heart attack and telling them not to let another car go down it

My routine:
1) see a Cleetus upload.
2) click on thumbnail.
3) while video loads up i click like.
4) watch and enjoy.

Sucks that Ole'Ruby is hurt and the Elco's in the 8's but I think y'all got this. Not every race week can be a cake walk, not that any really are, and no matter how much you plan and prep Murphy's Law does in fact exist. You can tell this one got to Cleet a little but he still didn't let it beat him just like everything else. This young man and crew just continue to push through with hard work and dedication to get it done...
elco literally made one pass with its new front shocks so not surprising it isnt running crazy fast. gotta get the car dialed in before it does that. with proper track prep i bet they are ripping by the end of the week!!

Ohh I'm sure they'll play a part in fixing Ruby, but unfortunately Ruby is not going to finish race week.
They just pulled another 427 down off the 'cleetus' shelf and got it crated up before the video even ended
I wouldn't put it past Garret and TSP to get an engine together overnight and in the car to continue, but they've done the overnight engine swap and probably don't want to do it again.
@@philb5593 They are not doing an engine swap on Ruby, they are purchasing a whole other car for them to continue. There is no possible way they could get the engine in time and have it swapped in and drive the several hundred miles to the next track. They are not drag racing at the same track the next day, they are driving several hundred miles to the next track and then racing there, they also have no engine hoist, the portable lift people are moving on to the next location also. It would take half a day to get the new shortblock delivered and another half a day to swap it in even if they managed to get the tools. Plus only 2 people are allowed to work on the car.
@@damstachizz Well thats cool and all but it still does not change the fact Ruby is not finishing drag week. Only 2 people are allowed to work on the car, they're not in texas so it would take half a day to get the engine to them, and then another half a day to swap the motor in. Not only do they need to swap the engine they also need to drive several hundred miles to the next location. Ruby is already loaded in the trailer, she's done for this trip.
