  • When I was in the market for a fully adjustable EVSE, I was somewhat surprised to discover that there just aren't many of them. The Shell Recharge 32A and 40A EVSE are in a select group that will do 120V (Level 1) and 240V (Level 2) at 12A/16A/24A/32A for the 32A and 12A/16A/24A/32A/40A for the 40A. Like anything, there are some things that aren't perfect, but there is a lot to like about the EV car chargers.

Very good information. I found a 40amp version that had very little inside use for $170. Your video gave me confidence in the purchase. It does have the type one plug, but being aware of the potential problem, I am taking extra care. Currently I’m using the 120 adapter, in garage on a Kia Niro EV. The unit shows 16 amp mode but safely draws 13 amps from my 15 amp plug. Works great on my KIA, only down side is the stiff cord, but being in garage I only need to leave out enough cord to reach plug. I think I will build a wooden bracket holder for it.

Amazing review! Answered all the questions I had but couldn't find answers to online. Buying the EVSE now. Glad someone else cares about the safety and certification.
