Auli'i didn't want to reprise her role in the live action. She stated how she wanted to give another young Asian Pacific Islander girl the chance to play a role that could change her life. Also a smart move on Auli'i part to distance herself as an actor from the role yet still be involved in the project behind the scenes
I do not care I’m still most likely gonna go see it in theaters but they litteraly could have chosen any other princess movie, “Moana” it still feel too soon I’ve always felt like the major aspect of making a good/successful live action remake based off an animated film is for the animated film itself to be an aged classic otherwise it ending w/ egg on ur face is pretty easy then again the 2020’s have been an interesting couple of years🤦♂️.
