    An excellent de-greaser for really dirty door jambs especially by the front door hinge area is to use Purple Blaster diluted 50/50 or even full strength. After you have dried off the areas, I recommend using a light special purpose grease to re lubricate the hinge and arms, as the de-greaser will very likely have removed the hinge grease. A White Lithium Spray, Silicone Spray (WD-40 Specialist) or Teflon / PTFE spray or similar products are all excellent for this purpose. Those sprays will really helps prevent squeaking and rusting. The Lithium is especially good for those winter months as it is very durable in sub-zero temperatures as well as very hot temperatures. Some folks may prefer the ease of the WD-40 Specialist line of lubricant sprays that are available in both silicone and lithium. Hope this was helpful.

    • @misterlove7034
      @misterlove7034 ปีที่แล้ว

      Which is better, silicone or lithium?

    • @josephdefreitas56
      @josephdefreitas56 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@misterlove7034 The white lithium is actually white in color but the regular lithium is clear. The White Lithium is also less messy than regular lithium The advantage of the lithium over the silicone is its operating temp from sub zero to hot tropical temperatures in excess of 100 degree. It is excellent as a metal on metal lube Silicone is also very good and can be used as a lube on rubber as well. So both are excellent. It just depends on your needs.

    The nice thing that I like about my Volvo is that they designed the doors to completely cover the door jams. The doors extend right to the bottom. When entering the car during bad weather your clothes never rub over a dirty door jam. My car is 5 years old and I only pass a damp cloth once in a while to remove dust. That’s it. It looks as new as the day I bought it.
    However, my wife’s car does need the door jam detailing you are showing us. Thanks for showing us a part of the car that gets missed by a lot of people.

      Ditto mate, works perfectly for me! ONR is like the WD40 of auto detailing, imo. Shit I made a surface clear to use on my black glass coffee table and it works better than any other products my GF has tried.

      Yeah once the door jambs are properly cleaned and protected like I showed in the video, regular maintenance is a breeze as I also just use a bit if rinseless wash and I wipe with a microfiber towel.

      Was just gonna say, I’ve been using N-914 diluted 6:128 and wiping off with microfiber. Glad to see others doing the same. Out of curiosity, what dilutions do you guys use for your rinseless wash for this purpose?

      @@bowlafterbowl I don’t really measure as well as a should when doing door Jambs or other tasks that aren’t crucial to me. I normally throw approx 1oz in 20oz of water in my spray bottle. I’ll measure exact ratios when doing Rinseless washes or claybar.

    Pan I found that using a pressure washer concentrated through the cracks of the door and trunk openings while closed seems to get enough water on the sills and jambs to allow you to then open the door and trunk and use your soup to wipe down the area. Then, shut the door and trunk lid and hit it with the pressure washer again to remove the soap. It seem to work fairly well and avoids getting too much water into the interior and the trunk.

    The most overlooked part of a vehicle and ultimately the most important too, especially in areas where salt is involved. I personally would have used some ONR to emulsify the dirt before rinsing but that is just merely a preference at this point. I've been a huge fan of Green Star for well over a year but Forst has won me over recently for unclogging my Griots ceramic spray coating. Without even using it yet, I'd almost bet that Wet Coat is better than Carpros offering because our buddy in Calgary is also a huge proponent of this fine line. Pan I have to say, thank you for choosing the simplest tools sometimes to show that you can achieve your goals without having the most powerful unit. Case in point, the 1.3 hp air blaster!

    Hey Pan from the UK! Loving the videos and was you that got me into detailing!
    Do have a question that I can't seem to find the answer to, the rubber seals on the outside around the windows, whenever I clean them nothing comes off until I use a rubber protection, and then LOADS of black much comes off and ruins my towels!
    Can you recommend something to clean these rubbers up at all before using a rubber protection?

    GREAT VIDEO!!! I literally did this just a couple days ago. The brush to reach all the knooks and crannies is an awesome suggestion as I've been using an old wash mitt and my hands and fingers don't get into the area behind the hinges where the front fender meets the door. As a DIYer I would only be doing this complete of a job maybe 3-6 times a year so I wouldn't have a huge brush selection. How would you clean the brush in the best way to preserve it any "tricks of the trade" .Also, since I don't have a big budget and would prefer to not order online, is there a Walmart or Can. Tire available product that could be used as a Wet Application detailer spray that you could recommend? I use the very silicon spray product that you had in your hand for doing the weather strips and rubber seals around the door jab AND the door itself especially along the bottom. Never had a stuck door in many years of doing this yet and we get freeze and thaw cycle weather here between November and mid April quite often ( wet roads during the day and freezing at night equals wet then frozen weather strips).

    Bonjour Pan,
    Ta vidéo sort à point, c’est ce que je prévoyais faire sur mon véhicule (il y a plein d’antirouille à ces endroits).
    Est-ce que super clean est trop fort pour la peinture, une dilution?
    Aussi, cela va retirer la graisse des charnières, vais-je avoir des grincements, as-tu un lubrifiant à conseiller comme tu l’as fait pour les joints?
    Merci

      This method you do perhaps once a month or when you need a deeper clean. Once that’s done, regular washes are simple. A bit of rinseless wash and a quick wipe and you’re done.

    Thanks so much, i never considered to use a pressure washer here. For incredibly dirty door jambs (caked on), especially by the hinges, do you have any suggestions to get the majority flushed out before pressure washer? I'm afraid the pressure will create way too much splatter if things aren't already so clean

  • @Verlangsamen
    @Verlangsamen ปีที่แล้ว

    Always had some reservations to using the pressure washer on the jambs as I was hesitant on the water overspray/splash into the car, but it didn't seem that bad (obviously depends on the nozzle tip/pressure). I wonder what the splash into the trunk/hatch will look like.
    I usually just use a quick detailer/MF towel at the end of the exterior wash, but doing a rinsing of the jambs prior seems reasonable enough. So, gonna give this a try next time.
    As always, thanks Pan.
