    Jackie is not completely against action comedy styles like Rush Hour because Jackie actually wants a Rush Hour 4 movie, it's just he wanted to try something very different, can't wait for this movie

    i really adore him, i grew up watching him and to me he is a legend
    but somehow watching him playing the character made me cry, maybe the reality really hit me where i just think that he is in that age where he shouldn't be doing dangerous stunt anymore, his body is aging even when his spirit remain youth

    "None of us were really sure that he could play a straight, serious, emotional role." Have they not seen him in any other movie besides the Rush Hour series? Pretty sure he played a serious and traumatised character in New Police Story.

    I just saw this today and it was such a thrill, I love it when Jackie plays a serious role, if you haven't seen his serious roles go see Police Story or Shinjuku Incident, they show his potential. I want to see Jackie in more films like this. Bravo Jackie, luv you as always.

    *Jackie is tired of being typecasted as just a comedic action star. While in this movie, he's still an action star, at least it has a more serious tone and the comedy is gone. It's something different and it's going in the right direction. Something he wanted for a very long time.*

    • @AzNightmare
      @AzNightmare 6 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      *Yeah, but he's pretty much typecasted into that genre, where no one will give him any other roles in American film besides being some kind of Police or Government Agent from HK or China. He's always playing the same character in a sense, he wants to have a chance to expand his acting abilities. Nothing about action comedy. It's about him being an actor and progressing.*

    "none of us were absolutely sure he could play a straight emotional role" just goes to show that they haven't researched or seen 50 of his hong kong action films that has so much emotional weight and solemnity to them. The ignorance when you typecast an asian legend as a mere action-comedy actor and downplay his talents in a way that prevents him from going further with his acting and repertoire. glad that jackie had a chance with this film!!

    And Pierce Brosnan....ohh...Jeezzz....time flies and he's getting old now....lol....For me, hearing PB's name remind me to Remington Steel when PB was still very young....hahaha

      i can see this happening. they dont ever say that his other 2 kids ever died, they just assumed so. maybe jackie gets information that his other daughter is still alive and he goes over to thailand to find her, could work.

    • @darthva31
      @darthva31 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      According to the book the movie adapted, his 2 other kids were captured, raped and killed by the Thai pirates. Not sure if the movie is following that but from the set up, seems like both are confirmed to be dead

    I really enjoyed the film. Not because I am a Jackie chan fan since his early days, but because it is a good well acted movie and it's shot in the UK. As a Brit I loved that. Also I think it was alot easier for him to get the script he wanted with a british director, instead of only being offered the usual stuff from Holywood.

    For those interested in what type of movie it’s like, if you’ve seen The Accountant and liked it, this is very much in the same vein only different plot. It’s dialogue heavy but it’s got doses of action here and there.

    Not many people know of Jackie's serious movie roles he's done in the past. 1. Heart of the dragon ,about a younger brother looking after his handicap autistic older brother played by Samo hung, a really good action film. 2. Crime story. Its based on a true story about a 1990 kidnapping of HK businessman. Jackie plays a HK cop who suffers from PTS from killing criminals in self defence who also has to uncover police corruption within his own ranks. Another good film to check out.
