If you are talking about remixing, it depends on how creative you want to be. You could do so little as changing the tempo and instruments, or you could completely change the chord progression/composition like I did here. For me, it's considerably harder to change the composition. Lofi is one of the easier genres to make however, because it's not too complex with many layers.
the software I use is called FL Studio. It's not free, but there is a demo version you can use. It's not too hard to learn. As for song data, I do everything by ear and manually make the notes. I don't know your music experience, but you could potentially find sheet music/piano arrangements online and use that for reference, if you can't go by ear.

I think they share the concept of experimenting, mixing genres and innovating a lot with Babymetal and I think that's why they are my two favorite bands as a whole.
