Not all American whiskey is bourbon. Jack Daniels is not a bourbon, it is a sour mash whiskey. For it to be bourbon the mash bill needs to be atleast 51% corn and aged for a minimum of 4 years and no higher than 125 proof and no lower than 80 proof at bottling.
