- Kunkka's ultimate ability Ghostship has a really interesting mechanic that involves reducing and delaying damage taken. In this video we go over the two buffs it provides, Admiral's Rum and Rum Hangover. We also take a look at an interesting way to make Ghostship invisible for both teams, which is probably a bug.

It took me a few months as a kid to realize that the noises from the Ghost Ship aren't people cheering, it's literally an entire crew screaming in their last moments.
took me years
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
I was today years old when I learned that
Insert depressed mr.incredible meme....
Yep he crashed his crew as a final attempt to fight tidehunter
Even if I already knew how this ability works, your videos are always entertaining, keep up the hard work!
Thanks a bunch! :)
It is invisible because the ship spawns below the map and rides under it.
Ahh is that really it? That's interesting but I suppose makes sense. Funny how that works if it's true.
@@zzadrianzzI read somewhere long ago that dota is coded in such a way that some objects are pre-rendered underneath the map to save resources. So when time comes when it needs to appear, they just pop it up onto the map instead of rendering the pixel necessary for that object. Since Kunkka’s Ghost ship animation is spawned at the same plane as the “undermap” when casted from the edge, the animation just lets it cruise the undermap instead of surfacing. When normally, they would pop it off the undermap onto the actual map before letting it cruise.
Can you please make a video on how creep aggro actually works or an overall rundown of some basic mechanics of the game like stat bonuses, high ground, aggro, etc
Wow . I play kunkka a lot and for once i thought there would be nothing in this video that I don't already know but I was wrong... The actual ghost ship . What a find... Keep up the good work
Thanks for the video
I play a lot of Kunkka, and i got 2 people so far, complained that my ult is "killing" them. Hope they see this video
Yeah it’s funny, it’s real life concept of not feeling pain if you think about it.
just discovered your channel, I've been playing since dota 1 and there are a lot of changes that I don't know about.
well, I can read update logs but I'm lazy so I rely on videos like yours and the actual gameplay. :)
Thanks for the information. You really appreciate hangover buff when you play hard support! that reduction damage will save you a lot of time! (Every time I see Ghostship I just run for it xD )
So THAT's why ana survived in ti8. . .
Actually not, kunkka was in the enemy team 🤣 he survived coz of the flaming guard (third ember spirit spell)
@@doctor_sakothe ghost ship was stolen by a rubick on OG
@@kayne7380ah sorry, my bad
@@doctor_sakojerax was rubick, and stole the ghost ship that's why
@@doctor_sako jerax rubick stole the ghost ship. without it ana would die , flaming guard is not enough to survive. He cast alot of spell and arcane curse duration is increased
Great Video as always,
maybe some Movement Speed info next? something like Turn Speed, Slow Resistance and slow immune
"Now that was a fail boat"
This line is confusing, the buff itself is probably the strongest part of the spell, think about it bristleback takes 40% less damage from back this is even more, for the whole team potentially.
Yes, you take the dmg later, but most fights can be over at that point.
One of the coolest ultis on any moba
Agree, since dota 1
I really love this format. Im here since ember’s fists video. Although, I think you can’t do much content from this format in long term as a creator, I still love it, I learned so much actually.
P.s. sry for probably bad grammar
Kunkka is my most successful hero of all time. Thanks for making this video
Im a top 20sh kunkka with thousands of games and I didn't know how buffs from multiple ships interact lul
My favorit combo since dota 1 „normal pick“ on sentinel…
Kunkha+sven.. (the stormhammer into torrent boat…) and then the boat +warcry buff makes em just max movespeed and like 90%physic dmg reduce..
Can the damage from the hangover tick be reduced by damage reduction from pipe or crimson?
There's some spots on the map that are way below the rest, maybe you can spawn a ship from them and have it be 'invisible' too
I just saw Yatoro picking Martyr's plate on Spectre, do you know how that interact with dispersion? is all the damage redirected by martyr's plate get dispersed?
The old kunka aghs made using ult really confusing.
Love your vids, Gj
another W from Adrian ;)
That last one was kinda cool
Hi zzAdrianzz. I play a lot of Necro aghs recently. And i found out the build is quite OP especially late game comeback. I watch the replay and combat log, but still didnt understand how does the Aghs remove the HP so drastically. Can you explain it. (Sorry my english not so good)
Can you do ogres multicast next? It has some weird inconsist effects with lens
ok this makes me taking kunkka as a spellcaster no longer a carry.
THANK YOU SO MUCH HOPE U GRANTED HEAVEN!!!
can you explain slark's passive for next video?
I didn't even knew kunkka ult had a passive
Lol
It's a buff actually
the most lowkey op skill rn
this is why Armlet of Mordigian was OP/Broken for kunkka back then because the damage delay was 50% or more if I recall correctly and while using armlet with right timing make kunkka basically hard to kill early game
very GOOD, i didnt even know, no wonder , i tried to kill kunka and I realized i could never kill him, im so confused as what ameks him suddently so tanky
requesting for spirit breaker shard
Does anyone know if Valve patched out the invisible Ghost Ship trick or is it still there in the game?
Damage delay is very similar to how monk's stagger works in wow.
Maybe bcos it's the inspiration of the rum hangover buff.
great stuff as always. i wish you digged into the timings of kunkkas spells as well
periodic damage from intoxication of the same type as dealt or magical?
Probably HP Removal, so typeless and unreduceable
It went well.
Mayb you can dissect IO in a new video? One of my favorite heroes, hard to play and alot unknown. Can you?
Excellent content my man. I hope you make it in this TH-cam game
Wow 😮i love it
Been playing for 15 years and never even know how ghost ship works! Good explanation
Did they change the rum? I remember the rum gets applied to all nearby ally the moment it gets casted or maybe i remembered it wrong
underated buff: sure it will nerf next patch.
so it's best to abuse this delay mechanics with mordigan. too op at early
I forgot if you mentioned if the rum could be purged.
I'm like immortal and didn't know how rum worked lol, I thought it was a big flat dmg reduction, not just delaying 40% of dmg, that's crazy, especially the rum hangover not being lethal
Maybe I'm stupid, but I didn't get the multiple ships part. When the buff from the second ship is applied, does it refresh all memorized damage too?
For instance, I get the first buff, take 55 pure damage (45 will be dealt later), then I get the buff from the 2nd ship. Will these 45 points be dealt? And if so, will they be dealt after the second buff ends, or when the first one was supposed to end?
I really hope you understand all that, sorry
It's the second option you said.
It works just like your average weekend: you're drunk for 10 seconds, so you only feel half the damage done to you. If you get drunk again halfway through, it simply delays the hangover phase by another 10 seconds.
Then 10 seconds after you stopped drinking your last rum (Dota heroes have very fast metabolisms it seems), you will sober up and suddenly feel every damage you have taken while drunk.
Moral of the story: stay drunk
Tested this, when the buff got refreshed, the damage will still be accumulated, not dealt. Assuming you have the ghost fleet talent(making it possible for the buff to last 20-30 sec), the damage you taken will still be accumulated and got dealt later after the buff ends(10 seconds). Also worth to note the damage dealt by the rum can't get reduced when you got another rum damage reduction buff(for instance when you refresh and cast it again later).
Thanks for the explanation, guys. Gotta go store some rum then
After over a decade i find out from this video that the damage after the rum is non-lethal. I always wondered why they don't die 💀
Same. I thought it only delayed the dmg. Never knew the delayed dmg didn't kill.
Ofcourse if you still have a DoT applied besides the non-lethal ghostship, you can still die
Noob here. How is muerta a good support in this patch?
ive been playing dota for more than a decade and i don't even know this!
Never seen a single failure on Stream. RTZ bless is real
asdf
How does wrath king skeletons work? Sometimes i press it but thrs no skeleton coming out😂
You get 1 skeleton charge for every 2 enemies you kill, so if you don't have the skeleton charge or just killed 1 enemy after you take the skill, the skeleton won't spawn as you have no skeleton charge
I don't think you need a video for that, have you tried reading the tooltip of the ability?
WOW I DIDNT KNEW THAT EVEN THO IM IMMORTAL 6K. I thought kunkka ulti deal half the percent of the damage that dealt on enemy on me
