@@SuperPuzzler no you don't give them a warning and call OSHA if you did that then the company will know it was you that called them, and that's how you'll lose your job.
Years ago a manager told me that I wasn’t allowed to have a 10 minute break morning and afternoon. I worked a 10-1/2 hr day not including my 1 hr lunch. I told him that indeed under ocean regulations I was allowed those two breaks. And if he had any questions I could have my brother contact him. My brother was an HR attorney for a major company. The manager backed off quickly at that point. And he never tried to pull anything on me again.
I worked in a factory where the supervisor didn't like me for whatever reason. I was told that I could only use the bathroom during my breaks. That was after being told that he didn't think I took my job seriously when I did everything I was told to do by the person training me. The trainer told me he was an asshole & acted like a dick all the time. She said she couldn't stand him either. That supervisor got fired later for getting caught getting high on the job.
In one of my jobs, HR used to follow me to the bathroom, the kitchen. It was unbelievable stuff and I WAS the Company Secretary. HR should never be on the floor, I would go so far as to.say for greater transparency and objectivity, they should be outsourced and not to former employees.
You really want people who handle raw food to have their hands clean and be able to use the bathroom. The cost of paying for bathroom breaks is tiny compared to getting sued for giving people food-borne illness.
The sad thing is, I've been a part of Facebook groups where this has been a topic of discussion and is crazy having to explain to them that yes, osha handles the whole access to restroom and if you get paid for the restroom use, but they love to deny it. Sadly I'm curious to see what happens soon as I heard the government agencies like osha had plans to be shut down because of the election.

One of the most irritating things I remember was when we were required to carry telephones in case the patient wanted us when we were on our break or in the bathroom. I solved that problem by dropping 4 different phone into the toilets over a 3 week period. When I was threatened with the dreaded write up I told then to do it and we could all go to the union and hr for a meeting. Stopped making us carry phones to the bathroom. Still had to carry them otherwise. But funny thing is you can’t hear them ring if they are turned off.
@ and yet they scream about no one wanting to be a nurse. I got written up( the dreaded constant threat) about not carrying my phone. I told them I’m not a trained dog. If I am not in the unit I am in the bathroom or on break.. The older I got the more like “Veronica” I became. And believe me, it was a freeing experience.
I pointed out many GMP/GLP regulation violations to my employer. I was unworkinged after this. If you threaten to reveal these illegal activities, it could happen to you too.
That's called an illegal retaliation. And you didn't go to the labor board and a lawyer why? Would have documented everything before complaining.

@@knighthawk3749 Yeah, it was retaliation. If I could do it over I would have gone straight to the auditors instead of giving my employer a warning. Happily retired now, water under the bridge.

I will never give them a warning. Call OSHA and any other agency State and Federal. FAFO
and a lawyer
Even better: Give them the warning, but call OSHA anyway. And a lawyer, like Mike said.
Where was osha when they were masking children????
That right there is against osha's own guidelines.

Worked for company that said we used too much toilet paper.
So they started making people go to the office and get paper before they went.
Bloody hel!
I would have brought in my own toilet paper and seat covers, then kept them in a locked drawer

Years ago in my area a chicken processing plant got into law trouble because they were having workers clock out to go to the restroom....
I worked at the same company for 40 years and we all used to tell each other, "Pee on their time, not yours!"
*Poo* on their time...
What would they do if you wet or pooped your pants.
For God's sake going yo the bathroom is a necessity it's against human rights for that to be questioned we can't put out bladders on a clock

Never tip your hand.
Not being shut down, just streamlined and useless workers laid off.
