- Geelong's premiership defence is over after a 33-point loss to St Kilda at Marvel Stadium ensured the Cats will miss the eight.
But the triumphant Saints are now one game away from returning to finals action for the first time since 2020 in the first season under new-old coach Ross Lyon, having led from siren to siren in the 12.16 (88) to 8.7 (55) victory.

Cats fan here but fair play to the saints making finals👏 obviously a poor season from our point of view, just haven’t been able to get a run of good form going. Very average and a reminder that even when you win a premiership you still need to strive to be better.

And just like that, Geelong's Premiership defence is a failure and no only that, St Kilda are in the Finals because of their great pressure. Two-for-one deal accepted by the Saints. XD A few weeks ago, Fox's The Run Home expected them to have a 2022 Carlton-esque collapse to miss the Finals, but that won't happen now.
All season long "ow the saints will fall of soon" but yet all season long we been in the top 8 the whole time i just don't get why some team get the credit that they deserve yet other team people keep talking down on them and keep throwing crap at them.
Even at the start of the season lots of people said ow the saints going to finish bottom 4 this year and they won't win more then 5 games.

The Saints were the better side but seriously 20 to 4 free kicks? The umpiring this year is SHITHOUSE! If you remove "out on the full" frees and one free just before the siren in our backline then Geelong had one free kick in play. Pathetic AFL.

Geelong average....Saints not much better...Umpires totally incompetent.
Bit harsh I think, Saints are better than an average side, not at the levels of Brisbane for example but still a very good side.
