I agree to an extent. I am from Wisconsin and have learned to dress right for the cold. But then again, for us, 28 degrees is a heatwave. Thumbs-up J.T.
@@JawTooth I was going to recommend that you wet your hands down with warm or hot water at the nearest convenience store, but I think I know how you unfroze your hands instead (the switch heaters).
I think that the rails on the car weigh around 60 kg per meter. With a quarter mile, that makes 27 tons of pro schiene. With 48 rails per transport unit, that makes 1296 tons, the whole time 2 plus the wagons .... then I come to about 3200 tons for the whole train. On a flat track, this is feasible for an AC. Greetings from Berlin/ Germany. Sven
Great video. It was amazing how those heavy metal rails bend with the turn. You really caught a good one. Too bad your son wasn't really there to help with the cold weather photography. You need some good gloves that are thin but insulated for days like this
Really appreciate the sacrifice you made to catch that double length continuous rail train in the freezing weather. Stay warm and keep up the good work.
Nice to hear a real bell on the gate for the 1st train. And a steel bell on the 2nd train's loco. You don't hear them much anymore. 👍 Rail train was awesome too! It's neat seeing those rails unloaded at the worksite too. Thanks for the video JT.
Wow! What a sight to see! I was gritting me teeth as the train was going around the curve! It amazes me all the unique machinery it takes to keep up a railroad! Those wheels and tracks are screaming! Lol.. wow! One engine for all that! Fabulous video! Now go get warmed up! Lol.. thank you again for such great content!
Working in the mill for about 30 years. Tons of in-plant and outside-plant trains. They used to move rail through the plant on, essentially a set of train wheels periodically spaced, and they'd switch from one track to the other, and the rails conformed to the shape needed, then straightened out on the straight away. Never seen welded rail as long as you showed on this train. We had railed equipment, not trains, but this equipment went into corrosive areas, they actually used Stainless Track Spikes, never seen them used elsewhere.
1-Thumbs up for braving the elements to railfan. 2- Great catch on the mixed freight CSX. I think I saw every type of rail car ever built. 3- I noticed that many of the flat cars supporting the welded rail were still stenciled N&W or Southern. I guess just being M.O.W. cars they're low priority to be relabeled.
Been watching your videos for quite some time. First time I've commented. This is the first CWR train I have ever seen that had TWO units of rail on the train. Awesome job!
Great catch - those switch heaters are really cool to look at - on the LIRR at Jamaica Station looking east, at night you can see the switch heaters lit up with blue flames due to the burning propane gas used to melt the ice. See if you can catch that on the CSX line after dark for some surreal visuals.
Am,azing how that welded rail flexes around that tight bend. Incredible footage, Brian. You must have been stoked when you realised what you were filming.
Unbelievable and amazing. Takes me back to when, as a student, I was working on long welders on the Great Western Railway in England...hope those hands have thawed out now!
NS just replaced the rails through my town, they had their MOW equipment and cars with rails in the siding nearby. Was really cool to see them pulling up and replacing it. They left spikes and plates everywhere when they were done.
I know what you meant when you said it was really cool, but it appears that it was really cold! Have never seen rails that long. Would be interesting to see how they are loaded and unloaded. Thanks for braving the elements to keep us all entertained!
Dang Son ! …………..that was awesome ! Beauty must suffer (lol) ..you are one dedicated dude that keeps us other train nuts with a passion for TRAINS !!! Brian keep it up ……love it .
Thanks for hanging in the cold snow JT!! That welded rail train was the coolest train I EVER saw!!! Looks like 30 miles of rail - looks like 2.5 miles on each layer. But they looked a lot longer than 1/4 mile long. It got so cold here in Ann Arbor once people couldn't talk to each other because the words would fall on the ground!
Two nice train catches in Hamilton, Ohio, Jaw Tooth! The Norfolk Southern continuous welded rail train was the longest welded rail train I have ever seen. It appeared to be two welded rail trains that were combined into one train for transport. I hope you were able to warm up once you got back into your truck and started on your way home. Thank you for going to Hamilton, Ohio to capture these two trains.
Jaw Tooth, had to share, saw a 3-train meet up at Deshler, OH today. Never seen that before. West bound turning south; northbound turning west, and an eastbound. Amazing! Enjoy your vids!
In a way they are, but the curve is relatively so small it really isn't that much force. You see a lot more "flex" in the track when they unload. You wonder how track can actually carry load. Each of those "sections" is only six or seven miles of track
I thought I was the only one who thought that ! Looks like one subscriber disagrees with me about how bizarre such a practice looks. Watch for my earlier post about videoing so close in the outside of the curve. Thats an endorsement to having seen such a practice before & knowing the outcome.
Got to get yourself some good gloves (if you don't have them already!) for the winter time, JT!! That's along time to wait filming a train without them!!
Wooooooow Jaw Tooth that was a awesome video I like the long CSX train and Norfolk Southern with the long rail cars and work trains that was soooo cool.
The was truly awesome, Jaw Tooth! I've never seen an MOW rail train moving to a job site. I'm surprised that the train made it around to curve without a mishap. Thanks for enduring the cold wind to share this!
Another great video catch Jawtooth! A lot of comments on watching all that rail making it around those sharp turns. I'll add that I think the rails are made of T-1 Tool Steel, the same as hammer heads and good wrenches.
You know those M.O.W trains are a headache for dispatchers to deal with because they run on slow orders and back up the Railroad!! That was a awesome catch JT!!!
Everyone should give a thumbs up for JT's braving the elements to giving us a great video!
I'll give him two more! 👍👍
I agree to an extent. I am from Wisconsin and have learned to dress right for the cold. But then again, for us, 28 degrees is a heatwave.

Done.
Hi JT good afternoon how is everything hopefully good for you I just piped in to see your videos wonderful snow trains beautiful thanks again JT ❤
Thanks 👍. We are doing fine. Today it is really cold but next week it is going to warm up
Good afternoon to all from SE Louisiana 29 Jan 22.
JT the hardest working man in the train chasing business! Shine on you crazy diamond.
I was thinking the same thing when I saw that open boxcar...Shoestring? I love seeing Norfie and Chessie and how they've grown!
I was amazed that just one locomotive could haul such a long train.
I was thinking the same thing. I kept watching for a DPU that never came.
@@michaelgarrity6090 Same here , what was the tonnage of that train, with all those rails?

Me too I couldn’t believe it I had roll back the video to see if I missed the one in the middle
Really appreciate the sacrifice you made to catch that double length continuous rail train in the freezing weather. Stay warm and keep up the good work.
Now THAT was mega impressive. I have never seen welded rail like that before. Great job Jaw Tooth.
Thank you very much!
Really enjoyed seeing those Southern boxcars! Thanks, JT for braving the elements to film this episode!
That was way too cool . I have never seen that much welded metal on one train before. Great catch.
Wow! Great video! What I would like to see is how they get those rails on and off the train. One of your best videos, super job ! Thanks.👌
amazing train chessy is a beautiful looking dog
That welded rail train was so cool, it nearly froze your fingers. Thanks for braving the elements for us JT!

Thanks for your dedication to giving us great views in all weather.
Great location in the Snow ❄️ ⛄️ and on a Curve. Thanks for Braving the Cold 🥶 and Snow ❄️ to record this content. 👍
Great job thanks mate. Chris from England.
Hello England
@@michaelhewitt258 Hello Michael have a great day.
An amazing sight to see the ribbon rails go around the curve! 73
It's amazing the flexibility of the long rails that bend with ease!
pull a pin, they don't bend so easy coupling back up.
The pulling power of AC locomotives is Amazing.
neat train . never saw one like that. thanks
That CWR going around the bend. Great catch! Thanks JT
I hope your hands are okay. Keep warm out there!

Now I know why they use track greasers,, for when they take track trains around such tight corners.
Thanks for being out in the snow and cold air to film these!
Thank you for braving the cold and the wind to bring us this video. Very interesting. Keep up the great work.
Railfanning in a snow storm makes for interesting video.
Wow! All that one piece rail and going around a curve at that! Another great video. Well done JT. 👍

We had railed equipment, not trains, but this equipment went into corrosive areas, they actually used Stainless Track Spikes, never seen them used elsewhere.
Stainless Steel track spikes would have cost extra primo. Did they hold up as well as standard spikes?
Lovely norfie💕 7 centerbeam cars and awesome long rail hauling. Thanks JT in that cold weather.
Great catch 🚂🤞 God bless hope to see you soon on the rails some of the day!
1-Thumbs up for braving the elements to railfan. 2- Great catch on the mixed freight CSX. Thank you very much! Yes, they are MOW
Can you imagine a de-rail of those 1/4 mile long payload rails?
I have not ever seen great long lail train . And snow day . Jaw tooth thank you very much !
Awesome footage. You done good
Wow! Imagine the weight of all that rail!!😯 👍🏼

Very AWESOME CSX mixed freight train and a very AWESOME NORFOLK SOUTHERN mow train in the snow. NICE catch JT, and thanks for sharing!
Great video Jawtooth. That was long train. Try and stay warm my friend.
NICE JT! A very COOL CSX mixed freight train and an AWESOME NORFOLK SOUTHERN MOW train in the snow.
Trains and snow a winning combination. Winer scenes always great.

Wow!! I am really impressed. Great Job Mr. Jaw Tooth! Take care with the low temperatures. Bravooo!! 😀👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Another awesome video! Thanks!
Zip up your coat man! If your cold zip up the coat JT!!! 🥶🥶🥶🥶🥶🤣🤣🤣
Blessings to you, thank you so much for filming despite the freezing weather :) Always enjoy the pets too :)
super interesting stuff!
a drone shot of it flying over of it changing tracks and going around that sharp corner would be amazing to see!!!
Cool idea!
Thanks for the insight! 😁😄
It's amazing that those rails bent around those sharp curves in that extreme temperature. A testament to a great alloy! Thanks for the video.
Awesome!!😊👍👍👍👍👍
Cool and a Great 👍🏻 Catch! Thanks and God bless!

You’d think those rails going around a tight curve would be like a leaf spring and just fling the last part of the train off the tracks.
In a way they are, but the curve is relatively so small it really isn't that much force. You see a lot more "flex" in the track when they unload. You wonder how track can actually carry load. Each of those "sections" is only six or seven miles of track

amazing Brian this was totally rad lol thank you I enjoyed this catch, please stay warm 🙂 BTW that a long rail train
Thanks for putting up with the weather for us rail fans really appreciate you for doing this.
That's soldiering on, JT. Well Done!
Obviously, the rails on the ties Bend to make the curve but it is amazing to see the rails in transit bending to follow the Curve.
Certainly unusual to see for the first time, particularly from the camera angle outside the curve.
Obviously not a view held by all !

JT delivers come rain, hail, sleet or snow!
Amazing catch of the welded rail!
Another great catch. I know the weather is rough on the photographer but the snow really adds to the effect. Thanks.
If it's headed south I wonder if its for the Brightline Orlando build. They were getting their rail from Indiana if I remember correctly.
BUEN DIA JAW TOOHT MUCHA NIEVE VEO QUE HAY POR ALLI,GRACIAS Y FELIZ FIN DE SEMANA.
I was hoping to see a 2nd locomotive on the N/S train. Thanks JT!
Luv watching trains come around a curve straight at u for a few seconds.
