The Legion of Boom. "LeeeJun" of boom. Hit hard ball hawks. Seattle Defense got that nikname from all the plays and hits in these highlights. One of the BEST defenses in League history.
@nolangilmore5104 yeah with context I'd agree but I think numbers wise there were others Ds that did better in other stats... BUT context would be the times... athletes are something else these days...they would destroy any team from the past imo...and the way the team was created and the culture. Everyone trusted the process. Next man up. Compete. My favorite for sure.
I really hope they can have another great or dominant game this Sunday. I'm still not convinced in this team yet. The potential is there but the execution and process hasn't proven itself viable yet this year. They have the players.
The Legion of Boom, broadly speaking, referred to the 2012-2015(ish) Seahawks defense. It originally described the secondary which consisted of Richard Sherman (6'3" 198ish), Brandon Browner (6'4" 210ish), Earl Thomas (5'10" 205ish) and Kam "Bam Bam" Chancellor. in 2013 they had one of the greatest pass defenses in NFL history. Richard Sherman was one of the best coverage corners in the NFL during his time, especially on go routes. Brandon Browner was one of the best at disrupting a WR's release by manhandling the WR at the line of scrimmage. Earl Thomas was one of the best free safeties during his time as he had enough speed to go sideline to sideline as well as run downhill and thump a ball carrier. But Kam.... Kam brought the Boom. He often hit ball carriers or pass catchers so hard that, despite being a legal tackle or pass breakup, a flag would be thrown for unnecessary roughness. the moniker came to include the entire defense which included probable future Hall of Famer Bobby Wagner at middle lilnebacker, Michael Bennett on the defensive line (one of the most funny NFL personalities in the past 20 years, Byron Maxwell, who took over the corner spot when Browner departed, and absolute gap stuffers in guys like Clint McDonald and Brandon Mebane. For 3 years straight, they led the NFL in scoring defense (how many points they allowed the opposing offense to score). Seahawks fans will claim the Legion of Boom is the greatest defense in NFL history, and while I'd still take the 85 Bears or the Purple People Eaters, there is a legit argument to the LOBs greatness.
Oh yeah! And if I remember correctly, when asked- Gronk said that was the hardest/most devastating hit he ever took. That's saying a lot, with how long he played for.
@@C.M.M.23 Yup it was. Earl Thomas was easily my favorite player. The only jersey I bought in my 20 some years of fandom. Guy was absolutely electric, could cover sideline to sideline but could surprisingly hit hard as hell too. One of my favorite players before the LOB was Bob Sanders. Small dudes lighting everything up is badass. Hell I had it happen in highschool football. Was like 6' 180lbs as a strong side linebacker. Going up against our h back dude who was quick as shit but probably 40 pounds lighter. Went against him in a one on one drill. Dude not only leveled me but completely knocked the wind out of me. He was a transfer and he helped me up while also telling me everything I did wrong lmao. Man just had wayyy better technique than I did. Cool dude though, respected the hell out of him after that. Got my shots in and he juked me out of cleats just as it was intended. Iron sharpens iron and whatnot.
Yo Sherm flipped out on that last scene in your video got pissed and frustrated... THE WHOLE TEAM came together surrounded him and gave him that energy bro... youll never see anything like that... they did that to take him out of the negativity and frustration sayinng we in this together lets go. . .WE ALL WE GOT WE ALL WE NEED!
Shermans Crabtree comment was provoked. Crabtree was talking trash about Sherman before the game... and Sherman does this to win the game against Crabtree... you cant write this stuff. Im 36 years old I lived through this erra as a die hard fan since the Sean Alexander days. Dont provoke Sherm he gonna let you know... ASK BRADY! LOL! YOU MAD BRO!?
Legion of Boom, outside of the 2001 Ravens…is the best defensive unit I’ve ever seen. Should’ve had 2 chips but….bitch Pete Carroll didn’t give the ball to Marshawn at the goal line. Yeah….I’m still pissed.
Ayy man I watched you react to Glorb 😂 Now finding you here, checking out my mf SEATTLE SEAHAWKS- I'm obligated to subscribe 👌 This was a crazy coincidence! Kam Chancellor was an absolute LEGEND. He turned football into a Russian roulette of pain. Seriously, watch more of this dude. He got paid millions of dollars to murder people on live TV. His hits sent fools to the damn shadow realm. He was Nemesis. He was HIM. 😂

It was Wagner, Sherm,Brandon Browner, Thomas, Kam, Michael Bennett, Cliff Avril that made that defense.
The best imo but that’s prolly bias being a hawks fan

@@Walklikelions yeah that makes sense but I was thinking more that they defensively dominated statistically the greatest offense of all time

Thanks for giving Browner his love. He often gets overlooked when talking about that D
Earl Thomas is one of the fastest and best closing speed safeties in NFL history. Little dude that puts his body on the line. Redlining every game.
That hit ET and Chancellor put on Gronk actually punctured his lung

Earl had the lightning speed ability to get from one side of the field to the other.

I have that autograph picture of Richard’s ball tip. It’s black and white except for Richard’s Seahawks jersey.
They was the greatest trip
The Legion of Boom, in my opinion, is the greatest / most dominant defense of all time
