I love this so much. One of my favorite songs ever since I saw Robert Altman’s Popeye when I was a kid. Harry Nilsson. I mean, it’s magical. It’s on a playlist of lullabies I made for my daughter when she was a baby. And now being sung by two of my favorite singers of all time. I love Mountain Man with all my heart and I love all of the side and solo projects. This is so awesome I am very very happy/excited.

Popeye was one of maybe a dozen VHS tapes we owned growing up and hearing this for the first time in 30 years brought so much nostalgia, such a great song and a fantastic cover.

Absolutely fell in love with this song in 1980 (Robert Altman's "Popeye"), and again when it was used in 2002 (P.T. Anderson's "Punch Drunk Love")... and here we are, 20 years later... falling in love all over again. H/T to the incomparable Harry Nilsson. Can't wait until the album drop on July 15!
Absolutely the greatest cover of any song. I love the lower alto part that was added!! And the video is gorgeous too, weird and fascinating and beautiful and so very happy!!
You slowly wake, your head in a fog. You hear the faint chirp of birds and wind rustling the leaves; the smell of pine needles and loamy earth around you. "How on earth did I end up in a forest?", you ask yourself. As some of your strength returns, you try to move only to find that you've been bound to your seat. As you crack open your eyelids, the sun peeking through the canopy momentarily blinds you. You get the the odd sensation that you are not alone. Slowly, you look down from the canopy and see two strange women bedecked with what looks to be black party streamers. An eerie melody played on strings begins.
I don't understand how you can post this video, crediting the director(s), editor(s), gimbal operator(s), etc., and NEVER mention the composer, Harry Nilsson.
Ladies- Be advised when you play Philadelphia in November, you may encounter some backlash for co-opting the name of a well loved and legendary Phila. band The A's. (See 'A Woman's Got the Power' etc) Many people may believe they are buying tickets for them at that show. No offense to you but be aware of that.
I dislike how in the description there is nothing disclosing the song as a non original, this is from Popeye and I would say this is a cover, but it shows as if it is and I’m sure that’s not the intention but I don’t like how there was no mention of Popeye or any of the original writers of the og song or even Shelley Duvall the singer of the song, just my opinion.
