  • Grammy award winning duo Gramps and Peetah Morgan of Morgan Heritage, pulled up to The Fix and talked dedicating their latest album 'Loyalty' to their fans, Jamaicans overlooking the success of dancehall/reggae artistes and not supporting them enough, international audiences losing their appetite for dancehall music and preferring afrobeats, their legacy in music and more.

      Man they're my hosts and i always think the same thing too i can't believe they didn't know that Morgan heritage just keep their show in Kenya when even onstage was there covering some of the show,just be more pro-active and informative and study the culture of what they're doing.........i just think they need to take what they're doing more serious its taking them too long to come to that realization.

    The problem is that dancehall becomes too crude/ Lewd. These afro music are clean so they can push in to space that the dancehall songs can't go. Plus the dancehall has lost its originality so I wouldn't even say afro beat push it aside. It has taken a turn that the world on a whole don't find worthy of attention

    • @ShadySquad
      @ShadySquad 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I dont believe that has anything to do with it. hip hop is crude and it is big globally. reggaeton is a dancehall knock off that is also ery crude and it is also big globally. i think the biggest difference is that with those music even if they cannot understand the lyrics they still enjoy and vibe to songs the beat itself compels them. Unfortunately tho with dancehall that is not always the case. Majority of the songs are not vybz music they are about struggle and hope but because people dont understand the lyrics they cant identify with the songs and the rhythms themself dont move the people.

    • @essentialvibesev6293
      @essentialvibesev6293 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@essentialvibesev6293 mi a tell u say hip hop, reggaeton and brazillian funk have some horrible songs and still doing well. Its not the lyrics only. People just cant vibe the riddim dem dats all. The songs dont move people

    • @essentialvibesev6293
      @essentialvibesev6293 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah for real these rhythms don't have any vibe. I think kaffe toast the rhythm and the colour of her her voice drew the attention of the people. Then the lyrics good make it sell off

Please start interviewing a lot more elders in the business who can teach and enlighten us about the history of reggae and dancehall and its impact around the world. Take a page from "Drink Champs" on Revolt TV. I also think you guys channel just too basic for the level of competence you guys have all we can look forward to is just an interview each week. I understand you might have limited resources but that's where you should get more creative and dig deep. The reality of Jamaica is many companies don't support small projects or startups they run in when you big but the show have to go on.
