    You can add/mix in alcohol ink (about 10 drops) to your crushed glass. Let dry and you have the exact color of crushed you want.

    This was wonderful to make. I made some in several different colors. However, I didn't have to paint the back of the mirrors. I used the clear stones and added Adirondack Alcohol Ink in the color I wanted, let the stones dry, and then used them in my projects. Easy Breezy.

    Well I see now it’s time to collect and buy glass to smash 🤦🏼‍♀️😂😂. I used to have SO SO SO much craft stuff…… literally for days.……then this past Super Bowl Sunday we lost EVERYTHING 🔥🔥🔥. Well let me correct that NO LIVES were lost , human or animal ……and NO ONE was injured so that was/is a blessing. I’ve been so depressed so I finally decided to start doing some crafting again………so I jumped on YT and started checking out bling-bling/sparkly glam DIY XMAS videos and ended up here w/you!!! So glad I did!! Thank you for sharing your ideas and how-to-s with us!! 😊

      It's my pleasure and welcome to the family. We have a live craft with me every Saturday at 7pm EST. We love for you to join in. You get to chat with me and some of the family members. I am so sorry you had to go through the loss of your home. Don't lose faith because Galatians 6:9 And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up. God got you Sis. If you want to talk call or DM me through Facebook messager or email this channel email address.

      Design On A Dollar Thank You hun, I do appreciate your kindness. I may give ya a holler sometime in the near future. This isn’t the “place” for 😔………your ideas are 😍😁……(besides I’d probably burn up YT if I were to tell “my story” here 🤦🏼‍♀️😂😂)……I just woke up …… in the middle of the night……figure I’ll have a ☕️ and 👀 for a bit. Thank you again 💖 :)

    Hi, absolutely brilliant to watch. I cant get crushed mirror glass so easy here and what i have seen is expensive for 25g. Ive been collecting mirrors for a while to try to do this but without the knowledge and the fear of cuts my hands open ive just gave up. I was also told to sieve the broken glass n bin the dust. You make it look so easy and with no fear while touching. I will do it..... Thank you for sharing. Luv from across the pond x

    • @DesignOnADollar
      @DesignOnADollar  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You can do it! Just take your time and wear gloves until you feel comfortable handling the mirror. Trust me, it isnt that hard like everyone thinks, but I have faith in you and you can do this.

    A lady in Joanns just told me about this earlier! You're my 2nd video & I like this better. A tip... to get a deeper crack, put your gems in ice water immediately after the oven. The chemistry of hot to extreme cold will do most of the work for you. Simple science 😉

    • @DesignOnADollar
      @DesignOnADollar  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes it does i did the gems more than once that way. The mirror can't so I do them together & apart.

    hi. i was about to order crushed mirrors and the shipping fee blew me off. thanks soo much for the video but i hope u reply to my question, are the crushed mirrors safe to use or they have sharp edges that can hurt someone? what can i add to the crushed mirrors to blunt the sharp edges please? would love to use them on my next project.

    Thank u so much for share your work. But I must aks: Wheen you that piece of glas, or mirror, is it safe? I wish make a table, but I first time saw that and when u put on the table is is shape? What should I do? Best regards!

    • @DesignOnADollar
      @DesignOnADollar  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I would wear protective gear if you are not use to working with glass. But yes it will have some sharp pieces in it. You can make your crush glass/mirror as large or small as you want them. If you are making a table top out of if I would top it of with epoxy or something that dries crystal clear and if you so make sure you heat it to burst some of the bubbles. But if you have anymore questions please feel free to ask. Thank you for joining the family

    i have tried 'frying' the glass in a frypan then dumping the shattered glass into an ice bath. Works, but i think i will try your idea of "baking" ~ question: could you bake longer than 30 min (ie 1 hour) so that it's easier to break ?

    • @DesignOnADollar
      @DesignOnADollar  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      yes, i have left mine in for an hour, but becare it depends on your oven, but leaving to long can cause some of the glass to get burnt. it will have brown stains in the glass

    THIS VIDEO WAS DEF RIGHT UP MY ALLEY! IT'S COSTLY WHEN U BUY THE CRUSHED GLASS GLITTER PLUS U ONLY GET A SMALL AMOUNT SO IT ADDS UP AS WE DIY CRAFTERS KNOW MAKING YOUR OWN SEEMS THE BEST OPTION I THINK!
    I WAS WONDERING ABOUT THE GLASS GEM'S IN DOLLAR TREE THAN THE MIRROR'S THEY SELL, EVEN THE GLASS VASES CAME TO MIND BUT U GOT TO SPRAY WITH MIRRORED SPRAY PAINT FIRST, OUT OF ALL THESE WHICH IS BETTER & CHEAPEST TO MAKE THE GLASS GLITTER FROM? U NARROWED IT DOWN BY SHARING. THIS VIDEO SO THANKS!!
    FYI...I SHARE ALL YOUR VIDEO'S ON PINTEREST ALSO!

      Thank you so much about both. It means so much to me that you share my videos but more because one of them was useful to you. My creativity has been challenged lately, or should I say my confidence because of poor views and low subscribers (family members), I have taken time off because of medical reasons. But prayerfully, I will be back soon. Again, thank you for your encouraging words and for believing in me.

    What do you do to the mirrors just break or do you bake also

    • @DesignOnADollar
      @DesignOnADollar  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      No, I just break the mirror in really small pieces, I keep breaking it down until it is the desired size, I only bake the stones, pray this helps and answer your concern.

      I think it's 350-375 for 5-10 minutes. Enough time for the stones to get really hot, so when you put it in the ice water, they crack.

    Hi I just watched this video and was wondering how many times you put a batch of glass in the oven. Was it twice? It looks like you may have put them in the water and then back in the oven.

    • @DesignOnADollar
      @DesignOnADollar  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I did put some of them back in the oven twice because they didnt crack enough for me. i would take the smaller pieces out and put the larger pieces back in if needed.

    Hi Ida! Did you hear the mirrors as well as the glass or just the glass? And you painted the back of the mirror can I do the same for the glass

    • @DesignOnADollar
      @DesignOnADollar  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I painted the back of the dollar tree mirror because of the white it showed really well. If you have white or should I say the clear rocks, yes you can apply paint to them as well. Remember Dollar Tree has some colors or I am going to show you how to make color glass tomorrow on the live so if you have time just us at 7pm EST to see it made.

    Hi Ida, I have a question to ask you! Do you have to keep heating the glass pieces after each time you crush them if they're not the size you want them or no? I would love to win the cricket!! Is all you have to do is subscribe to your grand daughter's channel and your channel which I've been a subscriber for a 1yr. and leave a comment on your channel. Sorry I haven't been leaving any comment's on your videos but TH-cam hasn't been notifying me the last few months on a lot of videos. I unsubscribe and subscribe and they still don't always notify me. But today I finally had time just to search and watch some of your video's to catch up. The last couple of weeks been busy for me my daughter - in- law just had another baby on the 6th of this month it was a boy 9lbs. 5oz. 19" long! Hopefully TH-cam will start notifying me since I just unsubscribed and subscribed again to your channel. I hope you and your family Stay Safe and Healthy during this covid mess!!!

      Thank you so much Terry and yes I have been seeing you for a while here with our YT family. Thank you so much for being apart of this family as well as my granddaughters channel. I want to teach her how to run a business, so as she grows, her channel will grow and maybe by the time she is 10 years of age she will be well on her way to saving money for college. So if you can get anyone to join her channel that would be great. Much luck for the Circuit. Will be announcing tomorrow. Sorry to answer your question, no you do not, I just did it because it cracked them more, making it easy to break up.

    Didnt understand how to do the mirror ones.

    • @DesignOnADollar
      @DesignOnADollar  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      The mirror is placed in something like a bag and then wrapped in a towel, with a hammer you strike the mirror wrapped in the towel, breaking it into small pieces. You keep breaking down the size of the mirror pieces,until you get the desired size of mirror pieces. Some like big pieces of mirror and others like very small pieces. It just depend on what you like. Now, if you are talking about the color on the mirror, before you break the mirror into pieces color the back of it with paint, one the paint is dry, follow the process above. You can also use a permanit marker to paint the back. Pray this helps, if you need more clairfication please feel freee to send me another message.

    How do you ladies handle all that glass without getting cut or slivers? I've watched a few of you, and you all use your hands for mixing it up and you don't seem to have any problems. I'd have invisible glass slivers for weeks!

      Sorry for your injury, I m not really sure why some do and some don't. Put gloves on so will not get hurt. I would say keep trying and you will get it, but don't want to be the one to cause you pain, l

      @DesignOnADollar  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      lol, it has a small popping sound, it is amazing. once you put the hot rocks in the water just place your ear close, but not to close, steam will be coming off the water and i dont want you to get a steam burn. but you will hear it.

      @DesignOnADollar  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes some they are sharp but I have come so use to picking them up that I havent gotten cut yet, lol, but by all means please use gloves to handle the pieces if you are not comfortable pickking up the crushed glass.
