  • Your Emetophobia is NOT caused by past events.
Most people believe that what has happened in their past has a massive impact upon their future. Most therapuetic interventions such as counselling, psychotherapy, psychoanalysis, hypnotherapy, analytical therapy are all focused on going back and revisiting past experiences, memories, and rehashing them.
What is REALLY important to understand is that the notion that we store trauma/memories/emotions and that they live inside our minds unresolved is NOT true.
The narrative is actually not only inaccurate but incredibly disempowering.
One of the most common areas in which people give their power away is to believe that their past is driving or dictating how they experience their present.
    How it feels:
    We experience a traumatic event.
We store the memory/trauma/emotions of that event at that time.
Those things are then locked away in our mind.
The memory/trauma/emotion can then be triggered at any time by things around us and we can’t do anything about it.
    Example.
I was sick when I was younger.
The memory and feelings of panic and terror that I created during that time were stored in my brain.
Now whenever I feel nauseous, or perceive that something could make me sick, that memory and all those awful feelings come flooding back and there is nothing I can do about it.
    What is actually going on:
Our brains do not store whole memories anywhere.
We only store between 5-10% of an experience.
Cognitive neuroscience research has found that memory is an active process that involves interpretation and construction at all stages (Oschner & Schacter., 2000).
The research also shows that we do not store emotions anywhere in our body. Any emotion that we feel, we have just created in the here and now, brand new each time.
    These findings are incredibly important.
If we don’t store memories or emotions, then they can’t be locked away ready to terrorise us at any moment.
The BELIEF that we have created about being sick or that traumatic event IS present and that can be worked on and changed. You are not at the mercy of your past events, experiences or traumas. You can change how you view past events and overcome your Emetophobia for good.

Emetophobia is the fear of vomiting/sickness: either yourself, other people, or both. Research suggests 0.1 to 8.8% percent of the population have a fear of being sick (Hout & Bouman, 2011). Emetophobia is a debilitating phobia, which significantly impacts your life: sufferers are chronically anxious and go to great lengths to avoid encountering anything sickness-related, which provides temporary relief but often results in a rollercoaster of anxiety, fear and exhaustion. Issues associated with emetophobia include: OCD, eating difficulties, anxiety-related gastric problems, phagophobia, tocophobia and more. Our goal is to raise awareness of this severe phobia and provide a solution for sufferers and their families.
You do not need to live with Emetophobia - you can COMPLETELY overcome it - just like all the people in these videos did - all the ex-emetophobes in this TH-cam channel used the special Emetophobia version of The Thrive Programme to overcome their phobia. If you are emetophobic, or know someone who is, you can no doubt relate to many of the experiences people share in their testimonials. We hope this reassures you that you’re not alone, and that you do not need to live with this debilitating phobia forever.
The Thrive Programme for Emetophobia (also known as Cure your Emetophobia and Thrive) is the single most successful and predictable method for getting rid of your emetophobia. It has helped over 20,000 emetophobes around the world overcome their phobia.
You can study the programme at home by yourself with a workbook (currently being translated into a number of other languages, as well as a version for the Visually Impaired), a comprehensive online course, or be guided through with a specially-trained Thrive Programme Coach® (face to face or online). Whatever way you choose, the results are predictable, and give you the tools to overcome it, for good.
