As someone who has played a Mizzix deck for a while, you are neither likely nor will you need to get more than 3, maybe 4 experience counters before storming off. Getting there can be tricky, though, because Mizzix is very vulnerable and a prime target (getting her off the board lets you keep the experience counters but you won't get the cost reduction until you cast her again) - and you'll also get attacked a lot because you will usually not have a big board presence while also playing a combo deck.
Nice! Oddly, I'm building a Mizzix deck at the moment too. It is around 10% of the cost and a lot more janky than this (it is a Dragon's Approach deck), but there's some great ideas in here I'll definitely steal.
I Love Mizzix, shes my favorite commander and for years until now I did not know the cost paid into X spells count towards experience counters.. my friends and I misunderstood the ruling for it when we looked it up years ago. Thank you for making this video, probably would have not found out for a lot longer haha. The bad fire ball part is what made me realize it btw
I had a mizzix extra turns deck that consistently stormed off turn 5 back in 2018.all these new cards look like amazing additions for even more bonkers plays
I love this video from the bottom of my heart!!! Thank you guys sooo much! And yes reality spasm is insane in this deck. With fireminds foresight you get reiterate reality spasm and and the buyback counter. And as long as you got 4 exp counters you get infinite mana and storm with protection. Also phantal image needs to stay, because it can copy a dockside from an opponent or storm kiln artist for easy infinite mana! There are a lot of changes i gonna do for sure with all the good ideas you had! But in my meta and mostly cedh decks im facing i need stuff like cursed totem in this deck^^ I love you guys as much as i can wothout making you unconfortable^^.
Ahh and because of breach i dont run timetwister, the blue finaly and the other cards to shuffle your graveyard back^^ and simian spirit guide in a deck where you can draw your whole deck in 1 turn works as a free land drop for the winning turn.

Firemind's Foresight only tutors instants, it can't get sorceries. You can grab Mystical Tutor for the 1 cost, so that's a roundabout why to get a sorcery from it if you need one.
For anyone who loves mizzix, I would like to recommend krark + sakashima as partners. They are EXTREMELY powerful, even able to make a good cedh deck if you want to upgrade that far, but they can storm off pretty fast even in low - mid power budget decks.
@@spudster8887 krarks real power comes from being able to get copies consistently or trigger doublers like veyran or harmonic protegy. That way your spells copy and return to hand, but I don't see that happening often if those two are in the 99. I'd still include krark just because the return to hand is good when all your spells are cheap but I'm not sold on sakashima
@@swampyswamperton6536 Why would you be not sold on sakashima, he is literally doubling up any of the creature cards in the deck, and for the most part, all of these are just adding to what you're already doing. Sakashima would be pure gas in this deck, as would krark. The other thing is, if you just sakashima mizzix, you're doubling up your experience counters which is value.
@@spudster8887 harmonic is much better for doubling the triggers if you want that. Sakashima gets blown out if they remove mizzix in response. Also, other than X spells, doubling your cost reduction doesn't do much if it's already high. And spark double is the same but makes mizzix a little bigger. Id much rather run phantasmal image to copy your own or opponents docksides than a clone that can hit your commander. If I ran sakashima or spark double, they aren't bad, but they would be one of my first cuts to improve power.
One interesting thing about Mizzix is that her design is just a bit unusual and she lacks an intervening if. If she had one, then it would weaken the Veyran/Harmonic Prodigy interactions with her because casting a 3 cost when you have two XP Counters would actually just fizzle the triggers that try to take it higher. But since she doesn’t have one and only checks the MV to XP comparison on cast they do a lot of heavy lifting
A nuance with Buyback/Kicker, those are alternate costs and do not affect the CMC/Mana Value. Mizzix can reduce the alternate costs, but will not add experience counters unless the original CMC/Mana Value is greater than the existing counters. X spells modify the CMC/Mana Value on the stack and still increase the counters.
I built a Vadrik deck, and even though it has a very similar effect to missix it has a far more high risk high reward gameplan, which makes some of the cards in this list not as compatible with the deck, however, I have been having a lot of fun with him, somethimes even struggling in trying not to win.
You show the cards on the screen but I’m not sure if it’s a cut or an add sometimes. Did you cut dig through time? I listened several times but couldn’t get it.
I agree that they could make it more clear on screen. However, it is pretty clear that they are adding both of them based on what he says. He said "I think these are important" going on to explain that the X spells are much worse without Mizzix, so you want high cost spells that work when Mizzix isn't in play, but can take advantage of Mizzix when she is in play. Dig and Treasure Cruise both have the delve backup to be cast for cheap without Mizzix in play and both of them help you dig past any X spells when you are delving, or get the X spells when you are casting them using Mizzix.
The channel you're thinking of would probably be CinnamonToastKen. It's a reaction channel. They do the same thing, but slightly different.
