43:55 not gonna lie I was waiting the entire video to see if you’d make that mistake - though I was disappointed because it would have been very funny, hats off for double checking
Dammit, I checked before watching too. I felt like it had to happen! Shocked he caught it haha
Its amazing how you could really tell what emotions were going through the mono-red player's mind just by watching what they were looking at and nothing else
Loved the fake outro transition midway through the video 😂
Ohhh, this was a great episode of Against the Odds.
Salty outburst = walking out of the room, cursing off into the distance, throwing a Mountain Dew across the room, and threatening to uninstall MTGA client
24:59 haha this was hilarious, well played editor!
I'm a little surprised there isn't an archfiend hiding.
Twu twu, but the meta has a lot of kill spells to stop or even counters so u die instead:/ enchantments are safer
Maybe it is hiding, that is why you don’t know it is there. 😂
@@haydndavis6753 removing archfiend doesnt make you lose. Its just bad in control decks. And if falcon gets removed, greeds gambit will still probably lose you the game
@@haydndavis6753 a one of, could draw attention from the falcon, just one copy could be okay.
"Once this video is out, they'll know."
You've fought this deck in multiple of your videos! Haha
34:13 Is it correct to just go for the combo here? You can flip in response to any removal and giving them the Gambit means you take two but their next turn they need a solution or another creature
(Obviously way easier to say after the fact, just curious)
this was the correct play, yes. I think he might have been mistaking disguise for plot and thinking he has to flip it on a different turn.
@@Sivarias I think he thought the opponent would have a chance to remove the Falcon before it was flipped. The opponent did not: entering the battlefield doesn't yield priority, and flipping a creature is a special action that doesn't use the stack.
Not giving your opponent an Archfiend of the Dross feels like a missed opportunity.
It's about sending a message. Sure you COULD end the game immediately with Archfiend+Render Inert. But that's not what this game is about. It's like when I play my standard mill+fog deck. I turn the earth+witness the future the opponents lands back into their library when they run out of cards, until they concede.
I love when he screams and the editor added the bird sound. This is the entertainment for which I came here 🙏🏼🏆
"Today we are teaching arena zoomers; About the power of coveted falcon and greeds gambit"
“Today we are teaching arena zoomers about the power of Mesa Falcon”
34:10 is there a reason not to disguise and flip coveted falcon to deal with the sheoldred?
That was my thought too. 2 damage to engage your win condition seemed correct.
Doing the combo instead of go for the throat is pretty bad here. That line costs him minimum 8 life when he's at 11. Draw for turn + falcon flip is 2 draws for 4 life. That's also all his mana so he couldn't play go for the throat even if he found an untapped land. Opponent makes him sacrifice bird with lilliana and then hits with sheoldred for another 4. If opponent plays any other creature they keep the sheoldred and force CGB to kill it on upkeep next turn. He might've been able to win at that point but it's riskier than keeping his greed around.
@@rhysbenson2061 Flipping bird was absolutely the right play. He takes 8 from the line you talk about, then the opponent loses the sheoldred the next turn because of either go for the throat or gambit. The opponent couldnt double lilliana discard because then he is sacrificing sheoldred. This isn't even a hindsight-type play, there were very few if any outs for the opponent.
45:30 so satisfying watching the opponent try with all their might to hold onto the ONE THING that could keep them in the game.
Going to be so happy to see farewell go bye bye this rotation.
What if there was a Bloomburrow card named Gopher, The Throat and it caused a lot of problems at a tournament.
sounds like my ex
Hei CGB, are you gonna do the "good riddance" video for the rotation where you roast all the most obnoxious goners?
I loved the one for last time, where we said goodbye to goldspan, chariot, ranger class and others.
Imagine doing the same with Thalia for example: I know you wanna do that and I definitely want to hear it.
I will second this suggestion
Thalia did nothing wrong.
i mean is it really worth it? there are way more obnoxious cards coming. boros is going to be absolutely fucking horrific to play against after rotation. you thought it was bad now, its 100x worse
This deck I've actually had a lot of success with running this town ain't big enough as the bounce spell and running spyglass siren as a way to gobble up some removal. Shifting grift let's you trade kumanos with gambit and snazzy creatures, while also letting you trade off your spyglass siren then take it right back with falcons attack. The map token from siren can also trade with hefty artifacts and like synthesizer. I toyed with asinine antics because it generates a lot of card draw since owning them doesn't matter, but it never seems to make a big enough difference, just a win more situation.
25:00
Trollollolollloooooo!
😂
This has been one of my go-to jank decks for the last 2 months... mine was really focused on the combo. Also used board wipes, Beseech the Mirror, Unauthorized Exit, Archfiend of the Dross and Shifting Grift to swap a "must deal with" enchantment or creature from the opponent. I normally play Bo3 but I found this deck ineffective once the surprise element is gone. Overall had a 57% winrate in 100+ games.
I love that you play through your wins and losses. It shows the true value of the deck build. U rock!
The glyph appeal is comes with putting it on a food or a map token, besides march it’s hard to get two for oned because it’s junk you have lying around
Weird looking Azorius deck.
W is in the mesa falcon! Ahahah
Dimirius.
It's almost been 12hrs and he still haven't realized it yet lol
Oh he fixed it lol
"these are the consequences of my actions... You may have them."
39:33 the hawk screeching was so funny lol
18:39 I don't care about the deck. The best part of the video was the Ultimate guard commercial.😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Great content. Love seeing some of the day 1 decks get a second shot towards the end of the format. Don’t let the stale meta get to you too much, Bloomburrow brews are right round the corner!
I giggled like an idiot each time it worked
Finally got to craft the falcon. Love greed's gambit. Any cards from bloomsburrow / duskmorne that look interesting alongside the combo?
I just want to say, I love watching you go from having fun to hating life to having a even better time at the end. Thank you for the entertainment CGB!
I think you combine this with the new 1 mana bounce spell(into the flood maw)
I'm actually grateful for the frowny face survey showing up when I lose due to unluck. It lets you tell someone else that you're pissed off at the algorithm or a card, instead of shouting at clouds. Or at least feel like you told someone.
There’s nothing better than watching shenanigans work.
That first control deck should feel ashamed.
They could see the combo pieces on the board. You'd think they would've held a counter to stop another bird coming down.
Typical Arena zoomer right there
That was one of the worst control games I've seen on the channel
I always wanted to try this jank combo, but crafting it felt like a waste. Thanks CGB for tanking it for me! Love your content!
Never thought I’d see the day when Serious Gamer CGB would play the jank falcon+gambit combo 😂 What a time to be a time!
"Work hard, study well and eat and sleep plenty. That's the Turtle Hermit way to learn."
- Master Roshi, the Turtle Hermit
Don't forget to rest CGB.
They should ALWAYS have the survey, just make it super optional. If my opp is salty roping or whatever, I shouldn't have to leave the app to give that feedback.
The Bloomburrow card CGB is talking about in the end is probably not Season of Weaving. Although it would do the trick and he loves drawing cards, but it's a bit of a clunky sorcery and it is expensive. So he is probably referring to the one blue costing instant Into the Flood Maw. Give your opponent a fish, which immediately gets sacrificed is probably worth the Evil CGB smile. 😈
You were really treading the line with the salty outburst. The comments about the survey are what gets me thinking. Haha!
You need a really cool deck that rins both the Maltese Falcon inspired cards (Coveted Falcon and Case of the Filched Falcon).
39:28 I love little angry CGB
Wow I made this deck didn’t think anyone thought like me. How can I send you an Upgraded version
Im not going crazy, the thumbnail for this video was U/W right? Im not complaining about getting U/B but just a heads up I think that was incorrect :P
It's been hours and he still hasn't realized it yet lol
25:01 is brilliant.
How about adding "Insatiable Avarice" in, or even "Diabolic Intent"? Since this is a combo (not an OTK but still), are a couple of tutors too slow?
"Gift an enchantment on the battlefield", sounds like a great new mechanic
Oh please tell me there's a card with that in Bloomburrow
The Gift mechanic would be even more fun now 😂
This is an awesome deck and idea for a video. Exactly the kind of silly jank made competative I love to see here.
Kinda wanna build a commander deck with the falcon as the hidden commander, purely for the ability to scoop without actually scooping, and as a special action no less. Lol
Bummed you're not counting wins anymore, this was an incredibly enjoyable video, the highs, the lows, etc.
So.... I tried a build that includes Archfiend Demon and Avarice... I was already Mythic so I played it against Mythic ranked decks... it went 7-1
Winning to games after donating Archfiend with 1 counter remaining was the most epic feeling ever
Love that you can still crank out fresh decks this deep in standard lol
I use this deck but i also like to have an archfeind of the dross. So nasty
the sheoldred v sheoldred thing, if you had dropped the bird and flipped it instead of using go for the throat on upkeep, didn't you have enough mana to flip it and theyd likely have to sac the sheoldred after a single swing? pretty sure you had enough life at that point to survive that, though, especially since they didnt have removal for the flipped bird
"men only want one thing and it's DISGUSTING"
Mesa Falcon guy honouring his name 🦅
Salty outburst needs to be applied to the worst possible commander show
The healthy response of scooping when you're going to lose.
I like the addition of the W-L counter. Also, I think you were kind of salty about the survey. lol
Not gonna lie. It reminds me of the old Donate and Illusions of Granduer meme combo decks.
ngl i really thought you would end the video early, got me there XD
Havnt laughed like this in a while!! Thrilling games!! Loved itt
Why no "Did you enjoy this game" survey? I wish I had it every game.
_"Did you have fun in the match?"_
🙁
🙂
The real question is "did you win the match?" yes🙂 or no🙁
4:99
Izzet blue/white control?
Arena PTSD... I'm getting second hand triggered watching this, lol
Archfiend to give it to him. You either win by attacking or give them to lose
How comparable would Shifting Grift be instead of the falcon?
shifting grift needs the opp to have an enchantment to trade for your greed.
Great content, not a deck I will play, but wouldn't mind seeing it on the ladder
10/10 dhar mann title
This deck just flicks the bird to the opponent.
This reminds me of the yorion doom foretold piles
I thought you was bringing out the badboy mesa falcons
I need need need need this deck to be competitive in bo1. I don't see how it's possible with the bunny/mouse/lizard agro that's in bloomborrow...but CGB, if you could make it work I'll buy all the cards that day.
Been waiting for a greed’s gambit exploit! This is a good one
alternatively, Machine Over Matter can bounce the gambit for just 1 mana, as long as the falcon is on the battlefield
Wouldn't you lose 6 life, discard 3, sacrifice 3 as soon as machine over matter removes greed from the battlefield?
@@joelknapp9112 "you" always refers to the controller of the card.
greeds gambit will cause your opponent to sacrifice creatures (etc...) if you give it to them via the falcon, even if you bounce it back to your hand.
@@evelevelin that’s so clever!
I always find these sort of strategies to be both incredibly creative and super annoying and I both love and hate them XD
Sooooo what does a salty outburst look like?
"Way easier and effective than expected" - well no shit when mono red draws too many lands and neither Slickshot nor Monstrous Rage while you draw removal after removal.
Loved seeing this deck work when it did 👌👌
This just in, mtg decided to not have rotation for another set. Let's go 4 set standard!
If the video gives away the falcon then it gives away the cloak trick lmao.
Illusions of Grandeur for grannies😮
Notice that you never get the survey after one of those forty minute nail biters? It always shows it’s ugly face after you mana screw, or your opponent god draw kills you turn three, or you have the start of a good game and then top deck five lands in a row while opponent draws their best draws.
having seen the bloomburrow cards...mono red and boros are about to get SO much worse to play against. boros in particular looks like basically an auto win if you're playing it.
Return of the Yorion ad!
I think the thumbnail is wrong. It has blue white as the colors. I noticed because this thumbnail looks very close to mine from a few videos ago. It's OK, convergent design.
Honestly if i lost to this i wouldn't be unhappy at all. This deck is cool.
This deck is hilarious! I generally don’t like dimir, this is an exception 🤣
this might be the greatest deck of all time
You should’ve killed their artifact before they gained the ability to sacrifice it for a 3/3
so close to covert falcon
It's a blue falcon too.
Anyone thinking about crafting this deck...please don't. His results are not typical of this deck. It's Meme'ness is only rivaled by its tragicness.
34:12 Your mistake here was firing off this Go For the Throat. You should have just cloaked the falcon and flipped it giving them the gambit. You lost this one right here.
Loved this video!
Coveted Falcon Guy
I really love the idea of this deck, but you gotta include something else to donate so you can attack and take your stuff back. lol
Falcon Gang members around the world truly feel seen today
Blue white in thumbnail but is playing blue black.
Why does the thumbnail say blue/white?
