Hello fellow Military Brat! I'm using other half tablet! I grew up Army Brat. But lived in Germany 2x with dad's assignment. My first duty assignment was Frankfurt. I went to high school there! Just found out that high school or Frankfurt medical center is no longer. I did get to advance training at Trippler in ohou Hawaii. Wanted to be stationed in Japan. Thanks for listening. JoAnn Sigby
Those drums, especially the larger ones are quite something. I had the privilege of seeing a smaller demonstration years ago, and it really stuck with me.
Amazing to watch from the drums sound, their body movements so synchronized I can see how much times they have been practiced and their dedication it just amazes me ❤️❤️🥰🥰😘😘💕💕😍😍 phenomenal performance love it.
Well, not in Central, Northern and Eastern Europe (except the Saami). Balkans, yes, and to some extent in the British Isles, Southern and Western Europe.
In the words of Neil Diamond ... What a Beautiful Noise !!! I just wish I had bigger speakers, I'd love to share this with my neighbours ... on auto repeat for a few days ;-)
These drums are very like a feeling of ancient Chinese war. There are more than 50 kinds of drums in ancient China. Chinese drums are passed into Japan before and after the Tang Dynasty, and some drums still maintain their original shape and name. The earliest known drums in China date back nearly four thousand years ago, around the time of the Shang Dynasty (c.1600 - c.1100 BCE). Most drums were crude constructions of animal shells, skins and clay/wooden composites. The most famous of these drum artifacts are comprised of tortoise shells, alligator and snake skins, which were popularized by ethnic groups and merchants along the Silk Road. Historically, Chinese drums have been used in celebration and in conflict. As a result Chinese drums are often the color red which has long time been associated with power and luck, and accordingly, red drums have been used as a symbol of strength for rulers and armies. In combat, Chinese troops used tàigǔ drums to motivate troops, to help set a marching pace, and to call out orders or announcements among massive armies without modern communication technology. In fact, during the war between Qi and Lu in 684 BC, the effect of drum on soldier’s morale was supposedly employed to change the result of a major battle and scare their enemies into submission (ancient documents cite rolling thunder emanating from approaching Armies-that would scare me too back in the day).
I was proud as a legio instructer when my gun nihon got their ranger sp pin on their shoulders, sensei de wanai, kun dessu, you earn it, when a frog shares battle knowlege to samurais,,,,,,,
A Taiko show would have been more spectacular than the 2020 Olympics tap dance / weird fashioned contemporary dance opening ceremony... But then again, 3 Olympics chiefs resigned cause of stupid reasons. 🤦
Just wonder... what scale of earthquake had been measured that day... and had some of their forefathers secretly been there to help the walls of Jericho coming down. 😰
Love the way they bring out drums. Then more drums. Then the BIG drums.
生で見たら迫力凄いんだろうなー
太鼓好きにはたまらん😏
Imagine 300 of these guys in the 2020 olympics. Thunder manifest!
It would be magnificent.
Imagine being there in person with 300 taiko drums going off in unison. The shockwaves your body would feel would feel amazing
2021* fucking coronavirus
In 2020 we have Coronavirus (COVID-19)
This aged like fine wine
演奏の素晴らしさもさることながらキビキビとした展開も素晴らしいです!
長胴をひょいと担いでさささっと次のフォーメーションを組む様子も見ものでした。
各隊の演技もそれぞれが個性的で見応えがありますね。
Spent 4 Years at Yokota Air Base outside Tokyo when I was a child. I can still FEEL these drums reverberating in my bones whenever I think of them!
