      Yeah and amazing creativity. I haven't seen that level of creativity since really apart from maybe on his day... Bruno Fernandes. They make passes with subtlety that you just never expect. Brains on another level. Sadly I think the role of the "10" is dying. Teams like players that can run up and down and defend as well as they attack. They need stronger durable players so it's a lost art. Rui Costa also was great to watch if you have seen before

It was sad that towards the end of his career the newspapers in England seems very against Ozil and did not appreciate him.

    Mesut Özil was a joy to watch at Real Madrid. At the time he was the best #10 in the world and nobody could rival him, not even Sneijder and Modric could keep up until he joined Arsenal. At Arsenal his best ever season came in the 15/16 season when he had 19 assists but could have broken the record at the second half of that season after getting 16 assists in the first half. After that season he started to decline and post 2018 world cup he was finished at elite football. The football world will never forget peak Özil at Real Madrid.

That’s why his prime was Madrid, after Madrid I think he was very inconsistent, he was on track to an all timer Prem season when he got crazy amount of assists up until Xmas & then after he just ghosted. In the constant discussion of Messi vs Ronaldo, i'll always say Ronaldinho. Only 1-2 seasons of peak, in comparison to Messi and CR7's 10 years of dominance... but it dosen't matter... prime Ronaldinho played the most exciting football... In the same way Ozil is the best 10 ever... Not throughout his career, but his top ability was unparallelled... problem is similarly to Ronaldinho, Ozil was pretty bad in large parts of his career.... But I still think he's the greatest 10... It depends on how you measure things

      @ahmaddeeni 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@farsous10 okay so technical generally covers ability in these areas; how you dribble, how you shoot, pass and cross, your overall skill with the ball (inventiveness?) and tackling. Swear on your life that everyone on your list has him beat in those areas overall bar Messi

    • @farsous10
      @farsous10 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@ahmaddeeni only aspect of those areas ozil is better at than the names I mentioned bar messi is how good passing the ball he is and “maybe” a better shooter than someone like iniesta or hazard. Otherwise in terms of dribbling and creativity you can’t put ozil clear cut above people like hazard or iniesta, you can easily make a case for him sure but he’s not significantly better at it than those two are and vice versa. And ozil is objectively not as good technically than messi and neymar, those two are among the best dribblers of all time and among the most creative with how inventive they are with the ball

    • @ahmaddeeni
      @ahmaddeeni 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@farsous10 im not contesting what you’re saying necessarily. You’ve essentially scored two points for ozil and two points for the others, if my quick maths are correct. My overall point is they are not objectively clear cut better technically unless you value dribbling over everything else. For fear of messi fans if we’re being scientific about it, he’s not as technically gifted as neymar but is alien in the realm of dribbling, chance creation and converting those chances into results. Im not saying ozil is a more effective player than a hazard. Im saying he’s arguably more well rounded than a hazard in a technical sense, ozil is also alien in his chance creation but not so much with the conversion of those chances where he’s relying on the guys in front of him to do that part. I feel the same about Messi and Neymar in that regard, technically Neymar is more well rounded.

    • @farsous10
      @farsous10 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@ahmaddeeni yea completely agree cant say much more than that really. It depends on how much people view goalscoring and output in general as "technical ability, someone who values that really highly might put someone like a lewandoski higher than a Neymar in technical ability because hes much more prolific in scoring, but that view is just flawed cuz its a very narrow and one dimensional way of looking at it, especially considering Neymar is one of the best goalscorers in his own position and has one of the highest goal contribution numbers in history, so context is important.
      I feel like we both more or less are on the same point tho, we both think someone like a Messi and Neymar are more technical than oil (and everyone else in their generation for that matter imo), whereas other players like iniesta, hazard, bale, mahrez, Xavi, etc, you can easily make a case for ozil and can say the same vice versa in just a technical aspect. None of them are clear cut above the others purely on technical ability, they're all relative to each other in that regardI feel like
