Hi, no, it doesn’t hurt them, they don’t have nerve endings in their feathers. I have read it can cause irritation but I’ve not seen my chicken sow any sign of irritation. Only clip the flight feathers on one wing. The aim of clipping them is to prevent them from flying, clipping one wing means they will be off balance and unable to get much height.
With the weather turning, what tasks are you doing to prepare your garden for winter?
I am new to all this, having just been given 3 chick's. Learning all I can. Does clipping the wing hurt them?
