So, how hard was it keeping Aaron from helping with the sheepsfoot roller?
That was SUPER COOL!!! my grandson went wild asking questions of what how why😂😂😂 most I knew an rest?? I fudged an answer for to his satisfaction 😂😂😂😂❤❤❤❤
It takes a real heavy tractor for those graders.
Hi DP the community hall area is looking good. The dock/wharf that you put in some time ago is looking great now it has all settled in and the grass area has regrown. The boat ramp parking area will be the icing on the cake. For a small community everyone must be proud of the upgrades slowly getting done.
What are the two circular constructions on the riverfront?
Hey also I'm curious what kind of handle or whatever that thing is called that you have on your go pro im just getting started this filming thing and it looks like yours works pretty well with the magnet and stuff on
Asphalt has the worse smell especially in the mornings and if you are hungry for breakfast
Looks great ! Thanks for giving back. You'll never have enough time, money, or resources, but the important things are where your heart is. Yours is in the right place Mike. It is greatly appreciated I am sure by the community.
Awesome job buddy, making Derby look better all the time. Keep up the great work.
Thank buddy one pice at a time.
It is so good to know that people are still willing to invest in their communities and make them a better place for everyone. We need more people like you in this country!
Looking mighty good guys it’s hard to beat the old hot mix for a durable surface as one of your other viewers said you never forget that smell it stays with you
Slick paving crew. We had a crew make a disaster at our church. We're having to fix it a piece at a time as well. Hire reputable people.
That brought back some memories from my younger years, you never forget the smell of hot asphalt. Keep Smilin
Your favorite brand Kubota skid loader being used by the asphalt company. I was waiting for you to comment on it. Thanks for the great camera and aerial footage. Nice looking properties.
I can smell that through the camera! Smells like money!!!
Honestly, amazing to see you investing into the community, love seeing stuff like this!
I'm amazed though that you're still in asphalt season - plants up by Indy shut down at Thanksgiving this year.
You do wonderful things for your community. Derby is lucky to have the Simon family and DP.
Nice improvements at the Market and the community center. The Derby area is lucky they have all the support from the community and specifically from DP and Simon Excavation. Its something you should be very proud of. Thanks Mike for all you do and the great videos.
Prayers for Nuts319.
You could have put up an 8 hour video of these guys and I would watch every minute.
Aaron was probably upset that he couldn't run the roller lol.
Well it's clear those asphalt guys know their business.......... Phenomenal work
Both projects look great. Helps the community grow. Always terrific vidoes. Thanks Mike. Stay safe
Mike, I know your elders are smiling on how great your maintaining, expanding, and handling the family business....I take my hat off to you, Man behind the scenes, Mister Millennial and Farmer Chis... GREAT CHANNEL....and your Letsdig18 cameo's are priceless....Pepsi anyone?
Fantastic improvement to the market property and community boat ramp. Keep up the good work.
I bet you will get a bunch of asphalt grinding when they redo the road next year
Black trucks. The ideal colour for an asphalt haul truck. 🤠🇨🇦
Helped lay asphalt one summer all I can say is don’t miss that job lol it’s rough for shovel and rake guys
I reckon DP will now get in to paving now lol
You can tell the time and effort that you put into your videos pay off. Also they have good roller operators by they way the turn behind the paver to keep the asphalt from rolling.
Awesome video and job there Mike. Wonderful that you're doing to help and give to the Derby community. Continued success in 2024.
Can I ask about those multiple wheels hanging off the chassis of your big trucks. Here in GB, those extra floating wheels will come into contact with the road once a certain payload weight is reached. From what I think I've observed, yours are always floating?? Regards Ron Poole, Dorset
Same here, they float the wheels when destination is reached.
Use when needed to meet axel weight
So it's up to the driver then? In UK the wheels are lowered and raised automatically according to load weight. @@alisciamarotta3888
Here in UK asphalt is different, the asphalt is spread with the same machine but
immediately after the asphalt machine comes another machine that "sprinkles" 3/4inch stone which is coated in liquid bitumen, this is called the wear coat, then the stones are pushed into the asphalt with roller
They do the same here on Oklahoma roads
They do that here also on existing rock roads. Top seal. Or old asphalt cracking etc hot tar and gravel. To seal it again. Rock roads a all crushed limestone here in indiana. White dust all summer. All water up in middle of indiatna limes up coffer and tea pots
Western indy is rusty coal country. Iron in water.
Red iron and white lime cruds up water heaters bad.
Culligan man makes a good living.. filtering water.. haha
Feel for you as i had my driveway to my house and shop re paved this past fall. Ouch. It hit the wallet hard😮
Looks good 👍, nice drone footage. Have a great day
welcome to my world....hot asphalt is what i do for a living in northern MN....
Now this is a great time of year for the asphalt crews when they can actually look forward to radiant floor heating on a crisp morning. It looks great too. Some of the asphalt road crews down here in NC could use a refresher course. I get sea sick some of the roller coaster repaves . Being 5 hours away from the ocean that's just not funny. I only said SOME. LOL
Cleaning dirt out of your excavator tracks is easy beasy compared to that asphalt machine.
Want a 100% improvement? Remove the Bud Light sing in the window. :)
There is a place in England called Derby (although the English pronounce it DAR-bee) whose motto is "Energy, power and strength" and the "The Derby Ram". Fair to say you guys exemplify the same spirit down there in the Ohio Valley. You had "The boys from the black stuff" doing a good job today, always interesting stuff Mike (and MBTS, of course!)
The way it works around here they pave it then they dig it up to install something stupid then hire some blind guy to patch it and it stays that way the next 15 years
Great community! All helping out for a better place to enjoy! Thanks! 👌👍
I got to get down to derby and visit some day seams like a very nice place
In Iraq the driveway to my building got paved. It took two or more weeks before we could drive on it, it took that long to lose enough heat and be hard. Mind you if you turned your steering wheel while on is you still made marks six months later!
Hi Mike, looks outstanding, great job should add to the appeal for people to use your store and boat ramp, thanks for the video...................................see ya
Nice to see Derby growing!
So how soon are you going to rip it up to fix something under the asphalt? 😆 🤣
So confused what am I going to fix
@@DirtPerfect there's got to be water or electrical underneath the asphalt lol
Pretty sure he was trying to imply that it is required that every new stretch of asphalt paving must be ripped up the following week to do some kind of water line, gas line, sewer repair or modification that SHOULD have been done prior to the paving work. It sure seems like that when a public road is repaved, next week they will dig up the nice new smooth asphalt to fix an issue that was there before the paving was done...........and then it gets patched (poorly) leaving a big bump or dip.@@DirtPerfect
I need to find out how to get the grader blade under the tractor or maybe a backhoe
Wow you videoing someone else working for a change. I can't wait to see what is next.
Thank you DP for explaining what the asphalt spreader does. I worked for caterpillar building accessories (buckets, blades, grapples, and forestry machines) for 6 years. The simple explanation you said was spot on.
9 guys and only 3 or 4 were actually working.
Good morning, Monday.
January 8th Temperature 22°. Degrees👍NC
An ariel view at the beginning would have been a nice start of the video. Blue Sky's.
Nice looking edges cut by the skidsteer. How long until your loaded flatbed starts chipping them away? Great videos.
Good morning sunshine! Just another reason to love this channel! You just never know what you are gonna see! I love it! Much love from Henderson Ga USA
looks very good next is the house driveway?
Good looking Base course what is the compaction rate in your area Mike around 1/4 inch per inch or do you know and do you have plans on ever putting wearing course down ? Course i know its probably depends on cash flow for sure 😂😂 lol do yourself a favor and never buy a paver unless you work it full-time you will never get your investment back glad to see progress Bud
Ah, the scent of hot blacktop in the morning 😃
Great to see two projects getting some more attention, only way the Derby is going is up 💪💪💪
You have a great community minded set up, it is paying dividends all round 👍😁
The progress being done looks awesome Mike! A lot of upgrades done at the river. Thank you for bringing us along on your adventure!!
Big improvements since july looking really nice Mike.
I can't see that truck bed ever rusting. Looking good.
Great improvement, what's the story with the little house please? apologies if mentioned before.
Great job.Thats a very impressive exhaust on that paver, looks like you and arron made it.
Looks like a good time of year for road paving cause it's much cooler. I've never seen a job that looks hotter. (Except for roofers. That sun is not relenting.)
My uncle retired from Barber-Greene in Aurora, IL that made pavers like that. If I remember correctly they were bought out by Caterpillar.
That's money well spent. Both lots look great
Looks good 👍🏻 that’s what I do for a living screed man on the back of a paver we run vogele pavers n a few cats
When I was a kid my uncle would pave and the paver had rollers that would go inside the most rear wheels. So in paving season the most rear wheels would be steel and the rest would be high polished aluminum wheels. Mbts would look good on that roller. Another awesome improvement done by dp . If he pays he says. Denis from Santa Rosa CA
Very nice. Like most of your videos, this one is just simple, down-to-earth happenings, making things better. With all of the "stuff" you got going on, projects like this make you sleep real good. Thanks Mike.
The citizens of Derby are very lucky to have you as a resident in their community.
So Mike - You own the Derby and the community boat launch ?
Yes
Something different boat ramp and parking lot looking good, nice improvement.just keep doing what your doing,on to the next adventure.great video 👍👍👍😎😎😎
I work for a road building company diesel & asphalt smells like money to me on a cold day 🤧
Great video DP, It could be a "How do they do it" video for Discovery Channel. Well done.
Wow Mike that must have cost you a couple hundred dollars at the market!🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Great video thanks Mike and Aron
The first is the breakdown roller and the second is the finish roller.
The target mix temp is 350 degrees.
And a...CAT 55E paver.
CAT...The King if Dirt!
I didn't see no signs. I looked and looked. No signs. Oh what sign you may ask. The sign that reads WELLCOME TO DURBY, home of WORLD FAMOUS DIRT PERFECT. How are people gonna know if their at the right Durby. Wink, wink, I'm guessing you will be putting up the signs ref. Parking. You know similar to what you could expect to see in and around downtown Seattle, PARKING $10:00 first half-hour. (Hint that's cheap, grab the spot quick, before someone else does!!!) I kid you NOT!!!!!
They did a nice job black topping👍👍🍮🍮
Sixty some years ago we called that "Nasty-phalt". An old Barber-Greene machine, tar-buggy, a little Raygo Romper roller and some single axle dump trucks... and lots of shovels and lutes and tamps .... ugh!
Some nice Elite CLs there. You were probably drooling. I still don't understand the weight laws in Pa a tri axle dump truck can weigh 73,280 and usually hauls 23-24 tons. I saw that quad had 21.5 tons on the body.
Someone paved over paradise and put up a parking lot🎷🎺🥁🎼🎶🎵
I went back but my city was gone .. my pretty countryside had been paved down the middle .. 😅 sorry couldn't help myself...
Did I hear you correctly? $45 a day to park and launch? Here in Ohio on Lake Erie and Sandusky bay there are quite a few free nice state ramps and even private launch ramps are $10/day. I could launch directly out of millionaire gated marinas for $45. I love your area but I don’t think I’ll be making a trip to fish for that. I love your channel. Really love the abandoned farm. Keep up the good work!
Enjoyed watching that brand new paver working It will really get a workout when they Pave
the highway out front. Thank you for the drone shots Of the entire Area That Surrounds the marketAfter all these years I thought the market was on an island LOL C](:>)-[(❤#=]
LDR
Looks good I'd go visit but according to Google Maps its 2,323 miles to the Market!!! but what a fun trip it would be. like watching your videos and content
County seat is Being moved to Derby! Lol
Not watching any more videos unless it is about finishing Lt Dan. You and Diesel Creek both just start projects and don't finish them. Unsubbed.
Ya need a couple of BBQ's with tables & chairs & roof covers !!!
Beautiful spot for a party !!!
Hey DP , I think you and MBTS will get some great insight from this video and channel. Steve Morris Engine's . The video thumbnail is 1 0f 5 welders in the country in the title I believe
That just brought back bad memories of when I work for a small contractor that wanted to do everything we did some asphalt mostly private driveways we had no spreader box we had a 40 year old roller that didn't work very well and a probably 25 year old single axle dump truck which used to be my job to drive spreading asphalt by hand is not fun😊
You can’t beat a cat paver. I ran a blawnox paver for 30 years. Then got on a cat, wow what an awesome paving machine and screed. The only thing is roller operator shouldn’t sit on warm fresh asphalt. Weight is friction, friction is heat, and will creat divots in fresh asphalt.
Thanks for the explanation of the metal structures in the river... I was wondering.
I’m thinking Derby needs to HQ the TH-cam hall of fame. Ohio has theirs. Why not Derby? With you, NYA, Man behind the scenes. Captain Kleman, Farmer Chris, Logger Wade and the others why not? Annual meet and greet with the fair. Induction to new members by TH-cam brass, Hotel? Just a thought and hi from Texas
Looks great, Mike - next time I'm out to Evansville, I'll have to visit Derby :)
Looks good, my town over here lays right up on the river that separates nj from pa and we have a nice boat launch area similar to yours in derby…where’s the SS DP ?
You! Shall! Not! wait wait wait..... one more pass.... one more pass, guys....
Love the video Mike .
@17:45 - Mike’s favorite compact track loader.
So nice to see that asphalt pavers have not changed in fifty years, since they were perfected at Barber- Greene co. Aurora Illinois.
What's the cost & length ..😂😂 just asking ? 😂😂
It's going to be a lovely area, but how are you going to govern to charge boat owners 45 dollars to use the boat ramp? Surely many people won't pay, so is it hoping they will pay?
If I’m ever in the area I’ll be sure to stop by the Derby market to get a bite and some gas, and fill up the car too!😆 the place is looking spiffy
Well now you can do a burnout coming in and out of your own property 🤷🏻♂️😉😅🤣 mama would be proud for doing so. 😉
DP, at 14:00, you had a drone view. There were three circular towers sticking out of the river. There is one of them away from the shore with bushes growing out of it. What is their purpose?
