@@hussainamusaji Thank you 😊 overall it's going well, I heard your next semester will be a mix between attending/online, my University I just got the news that at least for all of September it will be completely online
Hey Hussaina , lovely video and positive vibes about the University. Any advice for hostels, dormitories or links to find accomodation for February 2023 start. There seems to be less information for the university regarding the same. It would be great if you could give some advice
First of all i would like to thank you for your precious time, and the useful information about the city, and its university. I am a Norwegian student and today i was informed that I was accepted in this university, but i have already applied to the university of Warsaw, and i think they will answer me during this week. My question is do you recommend me to wait for the answer from Warsaw university, or should I accept the offer? I am a little bit confused, beacuse i don't know anything about Latvia, and i haven't been there yet.
Hello, I am sorry for my late reply but from what I have heard Warsaw is not nearly as good as Riga in terms of cities. As for the education I cannot speak on it as I have never studied in Warsaw but I would highly recommend choosing RSU if you have the opportunity. I wish you the best of luck!
Hi! The examination period is usually from June to July in the Spring semester and January in the Autumn semester. And to be enrolled there is no specific requirement apart from you having your grades from your school and proof of English proficiency. Hope this helps☺️
Hey great video!! I just wanted to ask if you know what the passing rate for students is every year on average. Some European med schools tend to fail a lot of students every year and i just wanted to know if RSU does the same. Also if the language barrier is noticiable during your lectures (due to maybe the wording or the accent professors may have)
Thank you! The passing rate is pretty high, in my opinion. As long as you study and pay attention in class, it's not too hard to pass. As for the language barrier, it is different depending on the teacher. In general everything is understandable but some older teachers might have a thicker accent but it's still somewhat understandable. Hope this helps!🥰
My first semester in RSU will start soon and I can't wait! I wanted to ask whether you stay at the RSU hostel or did you rent an apartment elsewhere. If you have stayed in the student hostel, how would you describe/rate it? Awesome video by the way, it inspired me to apply to RSU !
Hi! I'm not sure about internships after the programme because usually they require you to know a certain level of Latvian in order to work. However you will have a practical semester in the 11th semester where you can practice either in your home country, another EU country or in Latvia. This practical year is newly implemented so regulations on it keep changing but this is the essential information. As for Irish students, as far as I know, there are a few Irish students studying here :)
Hey, I would suggest you to check out this guy called "waysofdillon" on YT. He is British and also studies at RSU. He probably has some tips and tricks for people applying from the UK to RSU! :)
The first year is actually not that hard! But you do need to spend quite a bit of time in your studies, but the level of difficulty is not hard at all!
Hi! It depends on where you decide to live but living alone can cost anything from 200-500 euros a month. If you're lucky you can find good rooms that are not too expensive. But it all depends as I said. As for earning, the salaries in Latvia are not good at all, and finding a job is reeeeallly difficult especially for foreign students. You could potentially get a job at a kebab shop or something similar but the hourly rate would around 2.5 eur/h. So it's barely worth working in Latvia. And if you are going to study as well then it's almost impossible to do both because studying does take up alot of time (if you are going to study medicine/dentistry ofcourse).
If you fail an exam you have 1 more chance to pass it before you fail. And retaking the exam does not cost any money. I will hopefully soon make a video addressing these types of questions and go more into detail, so keep an eye out for that! ;)
Usually we get basic training in the Latvian language in the first 3 semesters, after that you have docotrs who help in translating and some patients also do speak English so it always solves itself, one way or another! :)
Well the practical classes are in English. However you have to learn the language, it is a part of the curriculum and non-negotiable to remove, unfortunately.
Hey
Awesome to find someone making videos about RSU, I study in the university of Latvia 2nd year)
Hey! That's awesome, I hope you enjoy it there!😊

How difficult would you say the first semester/year is? Maybe compared to highschool in Sweden

How much does it cost to rent a room in latvia .. and how much a student can earn per month

What happen if you fail a exam. Do you get another chance? And do you have to pay for that retake exams?

Usually we get basic training in the Latvian language in the first 3 semesters, after that you have docotrs who help in translating and some patients also do speak English so it always solves itself, one way or another! :)
Hi Hussaina 😀
Are your practicals in English? Can you decide not to learn the language?
