That's quite a setup... and I thought mine was nutty! HAHA! Check out my KE4WMF playlist for my compact mobile rig. One thing that caught my eye in your setup: I think you should consider adding grommets for the 12V and 115V feeds through bed rack battery box, especially if you drive off-road. Vibration can eventually wear through your wiring's insulation and cause a short circuit. Even adding just GOOP will help to hold the wires from vibrating or chaffing. You may be fused well enough for a short circuit to not be hazardous; but it will still be an inconvenience, to say the least. Keep up the good work! -Scott, KE4WMF
That’s a nice console, purchased or home made? Is that an Astatic microphone? Have one that looks about the same. Also have a Red GE MASTR II microphone that was on a VHF MASTR II mobile that was dedicated back in the day to the OHIO LEERN system ( long ago obsolete ) it allowed the officer to ID which microphone was used for that network. When I lived and worked in the USA in the past, I had built my own console to hold a Kenwood stack and ArrowStick controller. Was the head tech for a 2way company and needed everything from VHF to 800 MHz. Now where I live you don’t want a ton of equipment in one’s ride. The police here will accuse you of monitoring their conversations. I have has a few heated conversations with some "smart" individuals who know nothing. I informed them they need to add crypto to their Kenwood gear or go Motorola with crypto. Just doing a semi hidden mount for a remote XTL5000 on UHF. 73 from SV land.
I have with a Bluetooth dongle with my scanner before on long drives, It worked, but I usually have the truck off when I’m posted up listening somewhere
Awesome set up all the way around! I love your roof basket. I have not been able to find one I like for my Suburban I'm building. What brand is the one you have, and where did you find it? 73 KD0QZR
This was custom made! I welded it out of aluminum, both the basket and bed rack, Then took it to my local detail shop to get them sanded and powder coated!
@@jackofalltrades28 I just bought my Dad's 2007 Ram 1500. Low milage, clean interior. The fold down cup holders are nice, but the layout doesn't lend itself well to mobile radio mounting. I cringe at the thought of a drill bit in the dash. I'm exploring possibly an in dash President Electronics model for the CB, and some Lido mounts for the remote mount ham rigs. Surprisingly, my 2015 Nissan Frontier is more mobile radio friendly. There's flat surfaces above and below the dash which I've utilized. I removed the fold down jump seats, and remotely mounted an FT-857D on one side, an IC-5100A on the other, as well as a CB in front of the auto shift lever. What you did there looks like a great idea. The older 6.5ft.short bed Dodge has the Nissan beat on looks though.
@@RFMaster6this truck has those fold down cup holders as well, I had to loose those to put this new little radio box I’ve made. However I found these cup holder mounts that go in the doors!! So I managed to regain them all back!

Happy to say I’ve widened the holes where the cables were and put in place rubber insulators to prevent such a thing!

I made the console myself yeah, cops around were I am like my setup 😅
that's a cool car
Ever tried feeding your external speaker jack of the cb radio into your truck am/fm radio's aux input?
To use your car speakers?
I have with a Bluetooth dongle with my scanner before on long drives,
It worked, but I usually have the truck off when I’m posted up listening somewhere
Why not use an all in one system like a Bluetti or Ecoflow power station?

Local metal fabricator! Handed him blueprints, he made it in a week! Then just got it powder coated
wow awesome keep up the great Vidos
Thanks, will do!
Hi Jack, very nice setup. One question is what type of speakers are on the side of your console?
They are the 20 watt speakers from uniden!
👀😲 . . .💯👌🙋♂
Do you ever talk with Junebug?
Some time ago,
I’ve met him in person
@@jackofalltrades28 Junebug is my brother.
How'd you build the console ?
Out of plywood, cut it to shape, Then wrapped it in fabric!
