Justin is BS and a wimp, i lived in Thailand 8 1/2 yrs, i speak fluent Thai, there are a lot less jungles in the north than south (i lived in southwest, on island in Krabi province, Koh Lanta)... his description of Thailand is from a perspective of someone who doesn't like Thailand very much (his speaking Thai is not really good either!)
I really like this guy, he just seems naturally funny. Like he has a natural kind of dry sense of humor to him that probably makes him fun to be around. He should probably get his own show or something.
@@groofayagreed! So much of the time these experts delivery their knowledge in a very unpresentable kind of way but hes so good about not sounding like that arrogant know-it-all. Down to earth guy sharing info and food. 👍
Things I've learned about Esther so far: - She's very competitive - She's funny - She knows her stuff - She can handle the heat - She's *very* competitive This was amazing, very much looking forward to more episodes!
When I saw her in a Pro Chef vs Home Chef video, I loved her personality and eloquence but didn't see her in a lot of other content. So satisfied and proud that she's in more TH-cam videos now!!
Thai food is my favorite cuisine in the world (apart from Mexican), I enjoyed the cuisine in Thailand, its so delicious and yes, SPICY. As a Mexican American, I could taste similarities between Thai and Mexican cuisine, a fusion between the two would work so well, not sure why this hasnt been a thing.
Congratulations to Esther and her team. This series has been so fun to watch each week. As an Australian, Thai cuisine is pretty prominent in our country, so this was fun. Oh also, Esther wins for sure.
That’s so accurate, If you have a cold and you wanna eat spicy food and let the heat cure you Sichuan heat is like tug you to bed ,keep you warm and cozy until the cold goes away. Thai heat is like set to you to fire , and the fire actually kills the cold mercilessly , along the process, potentially killing you too so you need to reach for water and milk to tone down the heat.
It's actually quite mind blowing to realize there's just so, so, SO many things you can eat in this world to the point professional chefs have never even heard of half of them.
My wife is Thai and after 25 years my spice tolerance has grown exponentially. I would have loved to test myself alongside Esther and Justin. I saw khao soi in the first clip. 5 years ago you might not have been able to order it anywhere in Bangkok, but now the dish has exploded in popularity all over Thailand and became my favorite Thai dish over laab and masaman curry. Love this show!
Im a fans of Esther since her kitchen gadgets show. Justin on his calm sass demeanor are her best show partner yet I've seen with.. Hoping there'll be more of him sometime in near future
I love it when restaurants have spicy food that actually surprises me. I make my own hot sauce with peppers from my garden. Yesterday I had a wrap for lunch and tacos for dinner, all with a 6 month fermented Carolina Reaper sauce I made. It just hits differently than any restaurant’s spice. The heat is there, but the flavor is also complex and so exciting.
Another mouthwatering episode! I love how this series really highlights young chefs with exciting perspectives on cuisine, which is so refreshing as the old guard has dominated screens for 20+ years.
Man. This series has been killing it in the expert guest department. Everyone seems so likeable. Like you want to sit down to a meal with all these people
Heat Eaters is seriously my new favorite series on the First we Feast channel. All the episodes have been so great so far! Great guests and an amazing host. Love all the food knowledge I’m gaining from these as well. Please keep the videos coming! Thanks!! ❤🔥❤️🔥🌶️🌶️🌶️
Justin was hilarious, I loved him And of course I'm loving Esther in this series. I want her to do every country! Especially African countries because their spices are on another LEVEL!
I like that you guys were trying the food as you went. Too many other shows (and people I know IRL), fail to do this so it's a coin toss on how the food will turn out or if it could have at least been better. I was taught to always taste things so it could be adjusted if need be before it was finished and while I'm sure most people know this, it doesn't always get shown or explained to people on shows like this.
Great episode. I love Esther ! I remember when I first saw her on youtube reviewing kitchen gadgets a lot of people didn't like her for some reason. I think it was mainly because people were salty that the previous reviewer was replaced.
More of them please. Shout out to Thai (spicy) food. Haven't had 'sai ua' (sausage) for a long time. I'll have them for dinner with sticky rice and papaya salad. Gonna be great.
Was so great seeing stuff I eat all the time at the first restaurant. ตำมะเขือ และ ตำขนุน are two of my favorite things to eat and I'll have any kind of ตำส้ม (ตำแตงไทยใส่น้ำมะขาม my favorite) anytime.
Thai is probably the spice that have the least time eating personally! So I was happy to see Ester expereince some of it for me in a way. May have to find a place locally
As a Thai native, I know Thai food got big internationally in the recent years. A section or shelves for Thai ingredients is explainable but never thought it warrants its own supermarket, holy. Hope you guys have the best experience with our food of very humble origin.
LA has the largest number of Thai people outside of Thailand. We've had a huge Thai food scene for a very long time, there are many Thai markets around the LA area.
I love First we Feast, Hot Ones and now Heat Eaters, long live all these shows.... And I Absolutely Love Chef Esther, she is gorgeous, funny, and easygoing, my perfect type of woman... And of course I love anything spicy...Cheers from Colombia!!!! Blessings.
His explanation of Royal Thai Food is spot on. Sweating, breathing loudly (from eating spicy food), excessive emotions or expressions of any kind, are all no no’s in “proper” palace etiquette. Also spiciness increases your appetite, and eating excessively is also not “good manners”. It’s also a disappearing cuisine, because it is often very complicated, comes in small proportions, expensive, and although every dish is delicious and inspired practically all other Thai cuisines, isn’t particularly “exciting” or “stimulating”.
Great New show! feels authentic and Fun. Just the host being herself and getting the best out of the guests. (does that should like a show you know? lol)
Thanks for the video! Now I am hungry.... Congrats to the always beautiful Esther for winning this competition! 🥰 I would love to visit Justin's restaurant to try delicious food!!! Mmmmm.....
Like if you think Esther won the competition, comment if you think Justin won 🌶🌮
It's Chef Aunty Esther Choi and Grande Dame Molly Baz.
Justin. Esther's face when she tasted it.
Pretty sure it was a thai
We need Justin back for round 2

As a piquant culinary enthusiast, having experienced Thai Spicy "Style", I can honestly say it's totally worth it.
This is such a fun series. Esther is so grounded and Justin is absolutely hilarious!

Chef Justin is so entertaining and likeable! More Chef Justin pleeeease
Justins comment about the "pay attention to me" part of spice is quite clever. Good stuff

This is low key such a good idea. It’s competitive but with very little on the line. This video demonstrates good Thai food from LA in a great way.
