I loved the video...Kinda like a fireside chat. Like all your tutorials but fun to have a coffee with you and not take notes!!!!
    Thanks

Good stuff. I like the "freestyle" approach, and find the walk around the shop/day in the life-type stuff real interesting. I'm 770 miles due east of your place, so videos like this are the next best thing to getting to hang around the shop. Monday morning brief idea is a good one! Do it!

Love this style video! I have never had the pleasure of interning or working under an expert like yourself so I love to see how you set up your work week. Something I’m still working on to be as productive as I can. Thank you!

this video was awesome. I'm stuck in Hawaii so there is almost no local knowledge on leather crafts. I cant tell you how much I appreciate your video's approaches and techniques that you so freely share. If you ever decide to vacation our way I would love to play tour guide and show you and your family around. Though because of our current idiot politicians I recommend coming after this stupid Covid scare. Your tooling videos are an inspiration and also a great help to those of us starting out or just trying to figure things out.
    Thank you
    Aloha

This is a great idea for videos. Please make more of these, I will watch them for sure. It was cool hearing a story about your mentor in saddle making. I love stories like that. Prayers go out to your wife. God bless you both!

    Don,
To be brutally honest - I'd watch any video you post on this Channel. I've learned more tricks and tips from you than I learned from the dozen or so Stohlman Books I've read over my 20 years as an amateur leathercrafter.
So keep the videos rolling and I'll keep watching !.! Glad to hear you and yours are settling into the new place.
Regards from Northern California (We're not like the rest of the State - I swear !),

I seem to recall something about a shop that would not open till after lunch because the saddle maker had to get his work done every day without the hangout crew in the way. I enjoy the saddle construction videos and would hope for more of them.

I'm up here in the mountains of northcarolina, we have a saddle shop called jacksons, been here since the 40s. Its part hangout, part museum, part full service leather shop. I've been doing leather work for about 3 months, got ahold of some old saddles to take apart, and take note of how they are built. I think ima see if i can become an apprentice or take a weekend job there to learn.. anywho Your videos have helped me a ton, thank you.

    Hey Don,
Thank you so much for all your videos. They are so helpful to someone like me
who is just getting started in leather work. If you don’t mind I have a question.
When using my swivel knife, I get a lot chatter in my cuts. It’s like the knife is bouncing
along instead of making a smooth cut. Can you help me? Thank you!

You know Don, I was introduced to you by Aaron, from a Makers Supply video you did with him making gun cases. And I was like, fuck, that guy is fast! (sorry about the language, blue collar union operating engineer aka dirty old wrench turner). I saw you knock out some work twice as fast as Aaron, not knocking him, I admire and respect both of you guys. TH-cam is like my leathercrafting apprenticeship program and you and Aaron are 2 of my instructors. I'm glad Aaron turned me on to you, I admire and respect your work ethic above all and your talent is incredible. The only thing I could see you using coffee as is a performance enhancer, I know you could never be comfortable sitting on your butt drinking coffee and getting nothing done. My dad had bone spurs, very painful but easily fixed, still sucks. Best wishes to the Mrs. Our wives make the world go 'round, they and our children are the reason. Again thank you for the free education on TH-cam, and if Las Vegas don't get better, and I can find a large building or factory with boilers to maintain, I'll move to Texas near you guys and take classes and buy stuff from you. If I find the right property, BBQ and shooting on my private range. This flu shit really screwed me in Las Vegas.
