    We all travel to other countries and we integrate into the society by renting our own places. Are they not ashamed by saying they have been in the camp for 32 years without having anything. Ghana has laws that must be implemented. I think the camp has served its purpose and it is time it ends.
    Ghanaians are not supposed to stay in that camp in the first place. PLEASE ALLOW THE RULES TO WORK FOR THE GOOD OF OUR COUNTRY.🙏🏼

    The problem with Ghana is we allow issues to fester for so long till they turn problematic. Majority of these people have had over 32 years to properly assimilate into the Ghanaian society or go back to their various countries but have chosen not to do so. The authorities have sat back and watched the situation turn into a nuisance and now you want to apply force. Of course they will also kick back and not leave peacefully..

We need industrial areas. Imagine if there were about 50 factories there employing 200 workers each. Thats a lot of jobs created. Plus the indirect chain of jobs.. Like distributors and haulage..etc..Our leaders have no proper ideas on how to manage land.

      The whole reason for their removal is to curtail crime; getting them another resident means the government will only have transferred the existing problem it seeks to curtail elsewhere.. Then we ll be back to square-one......
      The war in Liberia is over, the residents (legal) can equally go back to their countries if they cannot rent legitimate residents like the citizens do.

    Look at Liberian attitude, this is a camp set by the govt. of the land, so they decide what to do with it.Refugee camps don't stay forever. For 22years? The govts. of Ghana have done well. But for that number of years they have become citizens automatically so the govt should have some low cost settling for them or give them some monies as a token to set them off . For development purposes and tranquillity in the area, the camp must go.

The aim is for you to be self reliant and not be a liability to your host country. I have lived in England, Switzerland, the Netherlands and Germany and even these countries with better economies and money do not provide free housing. You are supported for a brief period while your application for refuge is considered. Once approved you are expected to go out work and positively contribute to your host nation and not be a burden on them. These people have had over 32 years to better themselves and haven't done so. To say they have been sitting idle for 32 years is wrong.They have built families here and are now part of our system.it behooves on the government to find them alternative housing or some kind of compensation..YES the government owes them,if they have been here for 32 yes and their conditions have not changed there is definitely something wrong with our leadership..plus the short notice provided to them is also wrong..they have nowhere to go to..Do you have any suggestions as to where they should go ??

    • @afiaowusu20
      @afiaowusu20 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@marcq4106 That's your opinion which you're very much entitled to however, Ghana does not need anymore idle and unproductive individuals. If they still claim to be unemployed after 30 odd years then that gives credence to the claim that the camp is riddled with crime and needs to be demolished, how else are they otherwise sustaining themselves? Also if you were truly born in Germany and have lived in the countries you claim to, then you would know that housing provided is not free, it may be subsidised but one still has to pay for it with whatever benefits is received. The government certainly does not support the unemployed for 32years and over, Claimants have a 3 months window to claim and within this period are expected to find work or be willing to take up any job offered to you. Yes, some may be able to claim a little longer depending on their circumstance (mostly for health reasons) but these are developed countries with the means and money to do so. Ghana as a developing nation is in no position economically to do that. Ghanaians were very empathetic to their situation when there was a war raging in their country, they have lived peacefully, enjoyed our hospitality for years but have failed to contribute to the growth of Ghana if they still remain unemployed and in the same position for 32yrs. These people made a choice to stay and nothing is owed to them. All that's being said now is the camp has outlived the purpose for which it was created and they need to stand on their own two feet just like every resident in Ghana if they want to continue living in the country.
