    Hello John
Me and my mate have been fishing there for the last 9 years.
Mixing it up between that stretch and the weir at Anchor meadow.
Haven't had much where you're fishing. We're at a bit of a disadvantage as we travel from Norfolk, for the week, and as we have to pre book holidays, we are at the mercy of the conditions.
Had a stellar night at the weir in 2011. 9 barbel, biggest 10lb 2oz
    Untold quality chub.
Had to take an hour out, my arm was killing me.
Caught them all on a Preston method feeder, fishmeal mix, 4in hook length, single hair rigged sweetcorn. I'd never caught a barbel up until then.
    Been downhill ever since 😊

hi John< could you tell me who controls this stretch at Harvington with the golf course behind, as I really fancy giving it a go. many thanks.

It's controlled by Manor Farm leisure Steve, I've not fished it in a while now, but it used to be 8 quid a day, or a tenner for the night. They have a website:- www.manorfarmleisure.co.uk/

hi John. Looking on fishing harvington on the weir stretch by the island in next few weeksfir the weekend. what's the best feeder rig groundbait and bait to use for barbel and chub. and also what's the best pegs by the island. love the vids keep it up

Pete, the weir stretch is above this one, but i've never fished it, so cant really comment. I believe it's fairly shallow, fast etc, with streamer weed etc. I would imagine, with it being a weirpool, it's very popular and busy, which isn't my cup of tea, there are some good barbel there though!

Hi again John, I've now had time to watch all your videos on the Severn & Avon & have to say they have been fantastic. As I said I plan to fish the BAA waters this year 2018 at 73 for the first time you have given that much inspiration to me. Your advice & help is most greatfully taken & is of great assistance for me to get a leg up on the methods. Can barbel be caught in the Winter months? What video editor programme do you use to produce your video's? Lastly do you use any of the water authority stations to keep an eye on the levels of the Avon & Severn? John I can see you are a gentleman & sincerely hope we meet this year on the river bank. Many thank Robin Cook.

Robin, barbel CAN be caught in winter yes, it's the best time, as the fish are at their heaviest. It's the water temp that you have to keep an eye on, and the trend, ie/ if the temp is rising or falling. 6c/7c and rising, is preferable to 7c and falling. It's just a matter of finding the fish, and not feeding so much etc. I use iMovie on my macbook to edit my vids.....and yes, I do look at the water levels, im on there virtually every day during the season.

Thank you very much John for your help yet again. I guess you are talking water temp rising & not air temp? Which are the best water authority site to use to check the Avon & Severn? As i'm near Swansea, South Wales these would be most helpful to save wasted trips. Many Thanks Robin,

Rob - I use the www.riverlevels.uk site. I use the same gauges so I can get an idea of the levels. For the Avon, i use the Evesham gauge. For the middle severn, I use the Bridgnorth gauge, and the Lower Severn, the Kempsey gauge.
The Crew Green up in the hills can give an indication of how much water is coming down after heavy rain up in Wales. Currently now the Severn is high, in the fields in places.

Thank you very much for your help John. If I can ever do you a turn no problem. After my move back from 17 years in Ireland I need to get a lot sorted so planning for a spring start when I can give it my full attention. Many thanks Robin.

Hello John. I much enjoy your You Tube barbel sessions. I intend to fish the Manor Farm, Harvington stretch next season. May I make a suggestion with your postings? Please, please show the '' Actual bites '' rather than editing them out, as most fisherman like to see the three foot twitches. Best wishes. Harry Turner

    • @JohnCare45

+Harry Turner thank you Harry, but it's actually quite tricky to do. My camcorder is limited to about 2/3 hours of battery life, so the camera is actually off usually when i get the bites, and I switch on when i get a bite. I have to use the battery life wisely unfortunately.
