Hi Guys, I retired four years ago and have never looked back. We have an Autocruise Starburst Motorhome and we go away for May and June each year (covid permitting) into Europe and really love it. This Year we are off to France, Spain and Portugal. It's just relaxing, no rush and when you find somewhere you like stay another few nights. The only thing we have planned is the train out and back. Other than that no plans just follow the sun...
You won't regret it, your head won't clear that quick, I did 44 years at same place it's 4.5 years since retirement & still wake up thinking of work related things, good luck and enjoy your freedom 👍
Well bab news in one way BUT good news in lots more ways ! Fantastic news I have 5 years till I’m 60 & that’s our plan to travel the hell out of our van ! Does this mean we will get lots more videos 🤔 hell yeah !!!! 🤣
Once you are in mid France for all but November to Feb you should be self sufficient in electricity with solar power, the set up i did on my parents motorhome 10 years ago meant they could travel Europe indefinitely without plugging in, that was 120w solar 2 x 95ah lead acid batteries although their fridge was gas but they had satellite TV and blown air heating etc. My tip, upgrade some of your usb outlets to the fast charge USB 3.0, then you can rapid charge things from the alternator whilst driving. good luck with your travels and films. When your travelling to Hay on Wye try taking the Gospel pass the road is narrow you pass Llanthony Abbey but the view on top of Hay Bluff is beautiful.

Congratulations, that’s great news. We were lucky enough to be in a position to retire early and we’ve never looked back. I was 55 when I retired and I’m also 60 this year and that 5 years has passed in the blink of an eye. I’m sure you’ll enjoy your long adventures in Harry and that your channel will definitely grow when you have more time to produce content. I really enjoy the honesty in your videos because I too am an over thinker and I can really identify with you when you struggle to find overnight parking spots. If you intend to go away for longer periods, is it worthwhile considering a larger Campervan that includes a fixed toilet, and possibly a shower. It doesn’t have to be much bigger, and can in fact be smaller. Thee Wildax Pulsar for instance is only 4.8m long. Looking forward to your future vlogs. Cheers Brian Corrigan.

I'm also recently retired and on the point of converting my own Ford Tourneo Custom for camping (just for myself and one of our dogs as camping is a no-go for my wife). As my travels will be mainly in Scotland and the rest of the UK, maybe we will meet some day 😁

Redundancy can be a mixed bag of emotions but I'm sure you guys will make the best of things! It'll be great to see you go on longer trips and see how you get on! We're still very much tied to weekends and holidays but one day some longer trips should be possible! Off tomorrow morning to a farm for some walking and farm shop produce. It's still a great way to spend time relaxing.

Re the table you have to tighten underneath quite hard and interestingly we think it’s one of the unique features that other vans lack. I know what you mean it flexes but you do have to have it tightened right up

Absolutely not we are out at the moment just emptying my head visiting lots of ppl I have been unable so let me get that out the way and we need to plan a meet up up and you can be a guide on a walk as we are trying to get back into it albeit small distances as have had back issues since Xmas due to work that has just gone

So sorry to hear about your change in circumstances, but sometimes these things are for a reason, I'm a big believer in fate and why it happens. We are just about to subscribe to your channel as we've started a channel but a lot further behind you. Would love to know how you do the editing with the two camera angles but still maintaining the correct sound, it is tricky? Maybe that's another video for you to do? Interested your going to Southern Ireland, I went there for a holiday years ago and absolutely loved it, its breathtakingly stunning - you must visit Roundstone the beaches there are like the Caribbean trust me its definitely worth a visit. Thanks for the watch and subscribe but above all for taking time to comment as it means a lot It’s tough getting a channel going sone seem to fly and it’s taken us 3 years to get to here - retirement will give us more time to produce Hopefully if you look back at earlier videos we have evolved and hopefully got better - watching channels like life is too short and wee broon van are a worthy watch Re editing all video up til January were all iMovie created but one of my kids treated us to Final Cut Pro at Christmas so slowly getting used to that Re two camera you need to live up the audio - so using a hand clap like a clapper board allows you to visually line up the sound spike. FCP does have auto alignment but not tried it yet Thanks for tips on Ireland I will definitely look that up

@@wanderinwilds I am self taught so the key is getting consistency of format between devices so 16:9 making sure phone is in landscape mode. If using cameras again get them all singing the same setup etc

With respect to the small net we had the iPad in - Weve also got one below the windows on the rear side near panel so when the bed is down at night I can put my phone etc in it.If you mean the back barn door then you could screw in a larger storage net above the window. We are very impressed with all the mods and upgrades you have done and had done. Obviously we will suck it and see as they say, for the first season but feel we will probably follow suit with some of them at least. We are not far from you I think as we live in Stourbridge. We may be asking a few more questions through the year no doubt if that is ok? Insurance springs to mind but we have plenty of time to research don't we lol! Congratulations, redundancy is never easy but it seems to have come at the right time for you both. I took early retirement at 60 two years ago it worked well as we can now just decide at short notice when to go away in our campervan. It took me a good year to get work out off my head and I've slowed down, I don't see that as a problem 😊no stress👍be interesting as to how it does pan out for you , enjoy your present time away and look forward to your next blog. Congratulations, that’s great news. We were lucky enough to be in a position to retire early and we’ve never looked back. I was 55 when I retired and I’m also 60 this year and that 5 years has passed in the blink of an eye. I’m sure you’ll enjoy your long adventures in Harry and that your channel will definitely grow when you have more time to produce content. I really enjoy the honesty in your videos because I too am an over thinker and I can really identify with you when you struggle to find overnight parking spots. Thanks as always for sharing your adventure. I can’t wait to see where it takes you next.

If you intend to go away for longer periods, is it worthwhile considering a larger Campervan that includes a fixed toilet, and possibly a shower.
It doesn’t have to be much bigger, and can in fact be smaller. Thee Wildax Pulsar for instance is only 4.8m long.

I'm also recently retired and on the point of converting my own Ford Tourneo Custom for camping (just for myself and one of our dogs as camping is a no-go for my wife). As my travels will be mainly in Scotland and the rest of the UK, maybe we will meet some day 😁

Redundancy can be a mixed bag of emotions but I'm sure you guys will make the best of things! It'll be great to see you go on longer trips and see how you get on! We're still very much tied to weekends and holidays but one day some longer trips should be possible! Off tomorrow morning to a farm for some walking and farm shop produce. It's still a great way to spend time relaxing.

Re the table you have to tighten underneath quite hard and interestingly we think it’s one of the unique features that other vans lack. I know what you mean it flexes but you do have to have it tightened right up

Absolutely not we are out at the moment just emptying my head visiting lots of ppl I have been unable so let me get that out the way and we need to plan a meet up up and you can be a guide on a walk as we are trying to get back into it albeit small distances as have had back issues since Xmas due to work that has just gone
My advice to Keith is do it as long as you have a plan to remain active

So sorry to hear about your change in circumstances, but sometimes these things are for a reason, I'm a big believer in fate and why it happens. We are just about to subscribe to your channel as we've started a channel but a lot further behind you. Would love to know how you do the editing with the two camera angles but still maintaining the correct sound, it is tricky? Maybe that's another video for you to do? Interested your going to Southern Ireland, I went there for a holiday years ago and absolutely loved it, its breathtakingly stunning - you must visit Roundstone the beaches there are like the Caribbean trust me its definitely worth a visit. It’s tough getting a channel going sone seem to fly and it’s taken us 3 years to get to here - retirement will give us more time to produce
Hopefully if you look back at earlier videos we have evolved and hopefully got better - watching channels like life is too short and wee broon van are a worthy watch
Re editing all video up til January were all iMovie created but one of my kids treated us to Final Cut Pro at Christmas so slowly getting used to that
Re two camera you need to live up the audio - so using a hand clap like a clapper board allows you to visually line up the sound spike. FCP does have auto alignment but not tried it yet

@@wanderinwilds I am self taught so the key is getting consistency of format between devices so 16:9 making sure phone is in landscape mode. If using cameras again get them all singing the same setup etc

One question, is it feasible to install a net which you have your iPad in on this vid, to the upper n/s rear door panel? Storage is my only concern with these smaller vans and I am eager to eke out as many ideas as possible and are so grateful for the ideas you have provided. With respect to the small net we had the iPad in - Weve also got one below the windows on the rear side near panel so when the bed is down at night I can put my phone etc in it.If you mean the back barn door then you could screw in a larger storage net above the window. We are very impressed with all the mods and upgrades you have done and had done. Obviously we will suck it and see as they say, for the first season but feel we will probably follow suit with some of them at least. We are not far from you I think as we live in Stourbridge. We may be asking a few more questions through the year no doubt if that is ok? Insurance springs to mind but we have plenty of time to research don't we lol! Congratulations, redundancy is never easy but it seems to have come at the right time for you both. I took early retirement at 60 two years ago it worked well as we can now just decide at short notice when to go away in our campervan. It took me a good year to get work out off my head and I've slowed down, I don't see that as a problem 😊no stress👍be interesting as to how it does pan out for you , enjoy your present time away and look forward to your next blog.
