  • What is the definition, simplification and amplification of a fraction?
    Summary:
A fraction is formed by dividing two whole numbers that are written one below the other by separating them with a horizontal fraction bar.
Simplifying a fraction is dividing the numerator and denominator of the fraction by the same number.
This will allow you to make a fraction irreducible, meaning that there is no longer any number that can divide both the numerator and the denominator.
To simplify a fraction, you need to follow 3 steps:
o 1: Decompose each number into its prime factor
o 2: Find the largest common divisor
o 3: Divide the numerator and denominator by this greatest common divisor
Amplifying a fraction is multiplying the numerator and denominator of the fraction by the same number.
Amplification will be useful for you to put fractions to the same denominator in order to add or subtract them.
In the next episode, we'll look at adding fractions.

      Salut,
      Si j'ai bien compris ta question: si on a 2 à la puissance 3, on fait 2^3 = 2 x 2 x 2 = 8.
