Hansie Cronje was a class ODI player. His hitting style in slog overs was lovely to watch. He & young South Africans changed the Cricket into a athletic sports.
Prior to South African entry, the fielders never used to dive on the boundary .
Imagine, If he played IPL, Cronje would have been the most paid cricketer
Under his leadership, South Africa crushed Australian domination in ODI before unfortunate 1999 WC semifinal.
Was fortunate to meet Hansie in person. His uncle lived in my street, so one day him and Hansie brought us some peaches. This happened after all the unfortunate drama. We told him he was still a hero in our eyes. Everyone makes mistakes. Steven Smith was literally CAUGHT cheating on the field VS the proteas, yet he was only banned for a year. Thanks Cricket Australia!
Hansie Cronje made South African Cricket Team the greatest team of that time.
I still cannot fathom why Fanie wasnt given an extended run in the SA team , Almost never ever let his team down. Shaun Pollock's rise was factor, but there was always a third seamer slot. Played his last international at just 31
Cronje never favoured him.
South Africans actually won a close one - that's an exception! Back then, Aussies usually won close contests. Watching Australia Vs South Africa matches of the 1990s never gets boring for me.

Anyways De Villiers was fantastic 😍. He consistently bowled in the block holes in those crucial moments.

Hansie Cronje captaincy, Steve Waugh captaincy, and Mohammad Azharuddin captaincy was superb and the coordinating team effort was absolutely peak and prime and was quite exciting to watch and every one enjoyed from spectator point of view and commentators and TV viewers and so on. Regards 🌸🌻🌾🔔🔔🔔

The series eventually was tied 4-4
4-4 was the best outcome as you cannot undermine any one side. Both played hard fought cricket as it ought to be played. Still, I say Australia was a better side based on their experience though players like Ponting, Bevan and Gilchrist were yet to make debuts.

Fanny was top class bowler but remained under the shadow of Allan Donald.
RSA came in international cricket after the ban and made everybody believe that the new team in this game can also win against any tough team
