As much as we all missed Victoria Principal as Pam during the last 4 seasons, I loved the father son relationship between Bobby and Christopher during those seasons. You could tell they had a tight father and son bond.
Christopher was missing Pam so much that he was asking about if she did come back, how would it have been. Bobby knows that Pam isn't coming back to them. It's hard to except.
She got in a bad car explosion and didn't want her son to see her like that so she left. The reboot continuation of the show pam died maybe two years later after the car accident. Chris hasn't seen her for 25 years at that point.
I wonder how Christopher would react if Bobby was married to me wonder if he would be mean to me like John Ross was towards Cally JR’s new wife. Bobby would have to explain to Christopher that his natural mother Pam was not coming back but i would love him like he was my own son, Bobby would want us to get along

John Ross grew and learned that Cally was his father's wife and began too like her.
