    Hi Aona, great video!
    I just started a course where I need to develop a prototype of a web page.
    I'm currently struggling with how and what to do at the beginning now that I have to start with the research.
    We've got various fictional clients and I've got a "local photographer". I really don't know where to start to get ahead.
    Do you have any tips?

    Hi Aona! This may be a silly question but do you mind clarifying timestamp 5:15-5:23 where you discuss collecting behavioural data of a user? You mentioned its best to collect this data in a 'lab setting.' Going back to your grocery store example, what if you are observing how a grocery shopper uses the app while inside the actual grocery store? Does this still make behavioural data valid despite you not collecting this data in a lab setting? I mean you are observing how the grocery shopper is using the app in the environment of its intended use.

    • @FirstnameLastname-uo9mw
      @FirstnameLastname-uo9mw 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi, I’m not sure if this makes sense but as far as my understanding goes, any type of observational data is behavioral data regardless of where it is derived from. Observing how a grocery shopper behaves in a grocery shop is more like a “field study/ethnographic study”. Collecting data by observing users either in the field or in a lab or even remotely through a zoom call or just remote browsing behavior all accounts for behavioral data.

    Hi, Aona. Nice sharing!! And would like to see a sharing about how to keep track of product traffic :)

    • @AonaTalks
      @AonaTalks  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      What do you mean keep track of product traffic? You mean metrics to measure engagement and all that?

    • @VTalkTogether
      @VTalkTogether 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@AonaTalks Yeah

    • @AonaTalks
      @AonaTalks  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@VTalkTogether There are some 3rd party softwares that can help with that (e.g. Hotjar, Pendo.io). However most of the time, UXRs are not directly responsible for keeping track of metrics (usually they are owned by product managers, front end developers and data scientists). We often play a consultant role at an earlier stage (when the team is deciding what metrics are worth tracking), though.

    • @VTalkTogether
      @VTalkTogether 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@AonaTalks Awesome!!! Thank you so much. This answer really helps me out. Now, I get a sense of what UXRs need to be responsible for while dealing with product traffic. But would it be common for the UI/UX Designer to be in charge of tracking the data through 3rd party software?

    • @AonaTalks
      @AonaTalks  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@VTalkTogether I am not sure what you mean by "in charge of" because I do think it is typically owned by product managers - not to say UX folks are not capable of doing it, it's just that it's a written job responsibility of a product manager's - which is to keep track of product performance. Another way to look at it is if a PM has gone through design training, we wouldn't want them to be "in charge of" UX design, no? :P But that said, it shouldn't stop you from keeping an eye on your product performance, alongside with your PM, eng and research partners, as you are one of the collaborators and you are partially responsible for how it performs.

  • @alinazhou1365
    @alinazhou1365 ปีที่แล้ว

    The 3rd study could be more difficult than you expected. If users leave for a long time, then they could forget why they tried your product. Even they could make up a reason, the reasons could be greatly biased. Meanwhile, if they leave for a shot time, it could be a problem for you to recruit, the sample size could be not good enough.

    Great vid but how do we collect the data without violating companies private policy. For ex. The Sephora study how do I know which people on the Sephora app is there for a quick buy vs to use and review ? Wouldn’t I have to run a data collection method internally and welp I don’t work at Sephora. How can I do a full project because how can I make changes / recommendations to a app and test those changes.. am’i missing something ??

    • @homebodyofficial5724
      @homebodyofficial5724 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I wish they had demo projects somewhere that gave people access to actual data so we can run real test ( for newbies) ... they don’t offer this anywhere ??

    • @AonaTalks
      @AonaTalks  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      As I mentioned - if you are self initiating a project as a research practice, you also need to self recruit as well, just like how you would normally do any research projects, which means sending a survey somewhere or ask around, find out those who are interested in participating in your study and also fit your recruiting criteria that’s relevant to the study.

      This has been requested by many folks but unfortunately very hard to pull off because of project confidentiality. I can't share such things on this platform. The closest I can share is some tips on storytelling, which I covered here th-cam.com/video/8M83OFKAnFk/w-d-xo.html I also offer paid private career coaching service to those who want to improve their presentation skills :)
