3:30 i feel like this could proves the opposite. if you partake in dragon communion, you become draconic. in the old days of the erdtrees order, dragon worship was allowed and part of the order, so just from appearance and description of the dragon knights, the most obvious answer is these are old warriors from back in those times, half transformed by dragon communion, but taken slightly less far than the magma whyrms, and also they were respected enough at the time to be given armor. perhaps after dragon communion and worship became taboo they were driven underground to hide, just like the omen.
Except that the dragon communion cult and Godfrey's cult would be naturally in opposition, one coming closer to the dragons by befriending them and the other by killing and consuming them. Godfrey's cult is one of the ones I suspect is behind the "It is said" part of the whole "dragon communion turns people into wyrms" thing
The stakes that are decorated and scattered throughout Dominula, does anyone else see the resemblance to the Rune of Death you touch after felling Maliketh? Holy Shit! I've always wondered what eternal city could Astel have possibility destroyed. When I first discovered the nameless eternal city in deeproot depths not long ago I always wondered if that was the city that Astel brought ruin too. I never saw anyone else bring it up. You guys pretty much confirmed it for me. I never heard of or found the spell "Eternal Darkness" either. The idea that a spell can summon a destructive entity such as Astel is terrifying. I remember seeing Astel for the first time and being scared but also captivated by it. It's honestly my favorite enemy in the entire game. Now imagine that monster destroy your city and not being able to stop it! Chills. Theories in the community are very hit or miss for me. More times than not they are often misses. But I very much love this one.
I created multiple characters to get all endings but in all honesty in regards to the dung eater i'm tempted to say screw it and just put him down. I hate him plus why would I want to curse people? I don't want to burn the world either but...
YAY! I LOVE these! (added to Elden RIng Playlist!) Wow! I never heard that poor Dragon Ezykes's story told like this before! When you called him a Revenger, I was like:' WOAH!' That means he would have a lot in common with the Recusant Bernahal, and Bloody FInger Hunter Yura! (ESPECIALLY Yura!) It's a shame he was SO infested with Scarlet Rot, maybe Ezykes and Yura could have worked together! They had very similar methods and outlooks, going after those who took Dragon Communion too far!

I think rykard was and administer of justice for the golden order before his discontent with it. Hense why john fingerman and his buddies were in the sewers and mountains. Maybe he's directly involved to why the dung eaters physical body was there, maybe the trial we see in the intro was spearheaded by rykard, and the war with the giants sounds farther in the timeline before he fed himself to the serpent. so he could have been convinced that the war was just at the time. There's really no theory why they're in the manor, as it's been stated, it seems he was on good terms with his full siblings so it makes sense why they're there to grope us
What if it’s a giant that did dragon communion? They have a hole in there belly. Maybe there body’s were stronger to still maintain a humanoid figure. I think it’s a possibility
For some reason I'm the most suspicious about any description that includes the words "It is said". Especially in Elden Ring, Dark Souls 1, and Bloodborne where there are players involved who definitely want to push a certain narrative, such as Merika and The Fingers, Gwyn, and the Healing Church. And especially when GRRM was involved with the story development. Take the magma wyrms and dragon communion. There's no actual proof besides the "It is said" that wyrms are the actual inevitable outcome of dragon communion, but we do know groups that would definitely want to push a narrative against it. There are a plethora of different energy attack types, so why are the wyrms all fire based? Meanwhile our Tarnished can eat all the dragon hearts in the lands between and all we get are the eye effect? The finger creepers are found in many places primarily associated with Caria and the astrologers before them, but we see blasphemy in the description and automatically go to Rykard. But why would Rykard give a damn about Ranni (a direct competitor for power and in any case she's been keeping herself hidden) or Renalla (who everyone thinks is kinda pathetic)? He might know how to create them, but I'm not sure I believe he's responsible for any of them outside of the Manor. Up to the Astel part, and I thought the nameless eternal city where we find the corpse of Godwyn was originally part of Leyndell? It more or less lines up with that section of the city just behind the gates where there doesn't appear to be anything when we look at the map. Astel could have still had something to do with that, but given the opening cinematic its just as likely that section was collapsed either on purpose or accidentally during the siege. 1:54:00 I think theres a small but vocal and over represented part of the overarching Souls community that thinks using any enemy, especially the bigger ones, more then exactly once is using them too often.
Rykard and Ranni do maintain a relationship. We can see this through his cooperation on the night of black knives as she leaves him the Blasphemous Claw, "On the night of the dire plot, Ranni rewarded Praetor Rykard with these traces. Should the coming trespass one day transpire, they would serve as a last-resort foil, allowing Rykard to challenge Maliketh the Black Blade, the black beast of Destined Death." If they weren't looking out for each other she'd have no reason to do this.
@@square-table-gamingDo they maintain a relationship though? The Night of Long Knives was a loong time ago. Ok, so they worked together to get their oh so good half brother killed, which is par for the course for a GRRM story. And they are both working towards similar ends, both want to upend the entire system. But Ranni was working with a lot of people to make that night happen, and look where most of them are now. Just ask Alecto. But that was before her transformation and possibly before his. She is ruthless, intelligent and cunning, and shows absolutely zero problems with discarding allies in the pursuit of her goals when she has no need of them. When out and about she uses a disguise and gives a different name. She's also not arrogant enough to not have a backup plan, so she uses Rykard as a backup plan while neatly putting herself out of his reach by discarding her body for a doll's body, so hows he going to eat her now? Maybe she was the one who put the idea of feeding himself to the snake into Rykard's head. How much did he even know about her plan beyond killing Godwyn? I don't think they're currently working together. Giving your idea the benefit of the doubt, if one even knows the other is alive and active they're probably the least of each other's worries since he can't eat her and she just wants to leave if she wins.
