I had heard that Amazon just threw away all boxes with returned items, because they didn't want to have to take time to go thru all the returns. Can you imagine how much money is thrown away. Why don't they open a little outlet type store to sell unopened boxes, like selling flats, of unknown items. Could make some money, instead of tossing out good items that could be used by someone.
Beverly Clark I really like your idea.. but it's hard to tell people that have a lot of money and are part of big corporations don't throw the stuff out... it's too much work for them and they don't care... the people mostly that chair are the poor and people that really really need to stuff but it's a great idea thank you

Debenhams here in Ireland went bust and wont pay employees off with what they are entitled to the government has nowgot involved as the employees are protesting in the cold every day.
( when buisness was booming for debenhams they used to slash brand new clothes, shoes, suitcases, etc ,etc,etc. With a carpet knife instead of donating to the homeless or charities, serves debenhams right, being tight arses came back to bite them in the arse, or maybe it was just one nasty manager that was debenhams downfall.

Vendors tell the sellers to “destroy in field” when they don’t want damaged items sent back. That’s why the cabinet was destroyed.

These people are moving on with their lives, obviously getting rid of trash probably had a laugh smashing it up, they weren't thinking of you.

The people who had the packages stolen probably already have had the packages resent to them. I would take that stuff. Thieves wouldn’t have dumped it. And I agree it is probably returns
Thieves do dump stuff, like for their friends, because they think they might get caught soon or as a stash for later. They's tricksy.

Amazon does not want the stuff back! They say throw them out...I work for the post office. Kohls is a return center.
Anytime I had to return or got the wrong thing from Amazon I was told I could keep the first wrong thing they sent. Same with Walmart it just happened they set the wrong thing. I was told the toy was mine to do with it what I wanted.

You can't get busted. The only way you can get in trouble is if the dumpster is locked and you break in otherwise once a store throw things out it no longer is theirs.

My daughter returned something to kohl’s that was from Amazon and they just threw them away.

When you bring Amazon returns to Kohls they throw them away. No matter what it is. What a waste
The whole Kohls returns is crazy. My kohls puts each item in an individual bag and seals it with a return label. So my state charges for bags to lessen the use and these places are use a bag per item just to be thrown out when they are sent back to Amazon.
A local glass shop could probably cut and replace that mirror for under $80

The "return service requested" is on every label that pays for the service. It just means that if it can't be delivered that it will be returned to the sender, not that it was returned. I think you were right with your first guess that they were stolen packages and dumped. Also, Amazon doesn't throw away returns, they go to a wholesale place that sells them at a discount.

I put a yankee candle (glass broke in the car) into an empty BBW candle jar and the glass exploded while the candle was burning.

@@iamloved223 Just put them on plates once they’re out of the jar. You have to be careful what jars you use for paraffin candles. They burn hotter but should not have done that to another candle jar.

As someone who has worked for years in a furniture store, I can say that the damage to the cabinet was done by the store themselves. The cabinet likely had something wrong with it so they made it so that no one would try to take it home.
Great dumpster find. How do you find dumpsters that stores haven’t locked? Stores are getting smarter and cameras everywhere. Great video.
Same where I am. They have drive by security 24/7 and they have cameras inside the cars. They're on you like beans on white rice. If the dumpster has security signs, no trespassing signs ... and you get caught...they will call the police on you. Its not worth going to these. It's ok to go up to a dumpster and pick it if no sign, but you gotta make sure the store is closed. I usually go 1-2 hours in the a.m. before they open. If you get caught, just be polite and leave...After all it is their leased dumpster and they are paying for it. Ive gotten caught twice and near misses.
Hairy Tornado in SC now goes to a warehouse place called CazBoys (sp?) They sell Amazon returns @ $7 for anything on first day (each week??) The price drops each day as inventory dwindles. The line to get in is typically around the building.
Some states it is illegal to dumpster dive period. I would not risk it. Most back areas have signs that say to tresspassing.

When you take the glass out of that multi framed mirror, take little herb leaves and dried flowers and glue on each bottoms to create a beautiful piece of art. I've done this with a couple old broken windows.. looks amazing 🤩
My niece showed me how to melt the candles and make candle warmers she just uses silicone molds 🤷🏻♀️.. they make cute gifts .

Dumpster diving is not illegal.. at least not here in the states I don't know about different places like the UK and stuff like that.. but if someone comes out and says to you you cannot do that then you should just move along. I got stopped by a police officer one time he thought I was in the back of the building casing out the business. I said no officer I was getting some. Bread Donuts sweet rolls Bagels from the dumpster..he just said ok. & left .

I've often found the candle jars that take those lids at the second hand stores. Save the lids and look for new jars there! Nicole you could have got 1/4 inch plywood and made new bottoms and backing for that cabinet!

Kohl’s takes Amazon returns but they don’t take everything back. They have told us to take certain returns to the UPS store. It’s definitely crazy.

I remember the days dumpster diving as a kid behind the USPS 🤣
I worked for a major retailer when I was going to school. This was in the 90's and its about when retailers started smashing stuff like this. Unfortunately not all companys are allowed (back then) to donate items that couldnt be sold so we had to throw things away. Then it became common for people to sort through the trash for items and return them to the store for cash or store credit. We got strict orders that we had to tag (spray paint) item, tear or rip clothing. Then we had problems with people returning partial items and claiming stuff was missing or buying the same items they found in the trash and keeping what they needed to repair the item they found and returning what was left since now they had a receipt and packaging. Finally we were told to fully destroy or damage each and every panel of an item.

That cabinet you can turn into a beautiful dog kennel that would blend with the household and not look too tacky. Reinforce the back and sides, repaint it, shine the top and install a partial gate in place of the cabinet doors/shelves. Just what I would do.
The Merry Christmas box you can put those mini battery operated multi colored lights and it can shine through the letters.

Yes kohls does Amazon returns. But kinda sketchy they don’t mark out the persons address on the package they should.
My Kohls scans the return slip and makes sure the item matches, then puts the item in a bag or box with return slip on it, not sure why there would be sealed boxes with address labels on them also why they'd be from target and other places.

I wouldn't worry Kohl's contracts with other companies to do their returns. But in time of covid all returns are refunded to buyer but merchandise is dumped.

So the told me today the post office lost my package
From what I'm seeing online, the majority of Amazon's returns are sold by the pallet to companies who then sell them to people who buy the pallets, keep products they want, resell the remainder on various sites online.
Return service requested means that the company wants the package back in the event it is undeliverable. I am a long time postal carrier. It looks to me like the delivery person dumped these. They don’t look like usps tracking numbers.

I used to work at Kirklands, I hated that we threw stuff away. They started making us spray paint across stuff too. I think the arch mirror is the Sophie but I could be wrong I haven’t worked there in almost 4 yrs. the “ tray” is a top to a wire basket end table. Sand it, stain it, mineral oil it and it’s a good tray.
I have that frame out in the garden its cool

up here in northern Canada we just had a documentary on amazon purchases and many many unopened boxes ended up in ditches. They also have - get this - "Amazon returns destruction centres". A documentary show on CBC marketplace up here put tracker devices in returns that were absolutely brand new to see where they would go and they were often sent hundreds of miles away to these destruction centers, directly to landfill and some were sent to giant warehouses and are sitting as they don't know what to do with all the hundreds of thousands of returns. Maybe people need to think twice about whether they really need all the crap they're sending away for on amazon. i've posted the link to the documentary below:

It’s not a Covid reason. Amazon is worth trillions, it doesn’t want to waste time and money on returns being re-sold. They don’t have a system for it.
